View Full Version : T.M.Revolution
I've heard quite a bit about this group and wanna try their songs. Any recommendations on where to start? Something that's their general style or one of their hit songs.
Maybe it's my bad luck or something, but I often get off on the wrong leg for many artists by hearing one of their 'weird' or 'experimental' songs that discourage me for hearing more. I don't want to make such a stupid mistake again, so T.M.Revolution fans, help me out!

T.M.Revolution really isn't a band. Its one person. But yea they do alot of anime music. I'll upload some songs to try later for you. Heart of a Sword, Hot Limit, Invoke, Ignition those are all songs to try.
Ah. One person. Ok, just goes to show how clueless I am.
Thanks for the suggestions Nana, I'm going to try and find them right now!

nope..T.M.Revolution is not one person...T.M.Revolution is a group of three person. the lyricist : Akio Inoue, the composer: Daisuke Asakura and of course the singer & performer: Takanori himself. hm..yeah..thought i'd straighten that out..
great songs that i really like are : Vestige, Zips, crosswise, and Web of Night(theme of spiderman)and gekkoh.i think web of night(the english version) actually sounds better than the japanese version itself..and we get to listen to takanori's english which is not that bad(um..at least it's better than some jrockers anyway).. heheh :relief:
and while you're at it, i recommend you get the Vestige PV too!! it's very BEAUTIFUL!! and a sad story:( and takanori looks really good in it. :-)
Wahhh :( I couldn't find any T.M.Revolution songs other than their anime songs...
-rika- shinya`, darling, do you have a link for a T.M.Revolution site that isn't anime obsessed? Pretty please? :o <-- trying to do puppy eyes but failing...

Elanor : here's heart of sword, a must-hear song for anyone new to T.M.Revolution. in my opinion, the older version(the one below) is much much better than the new version he just did in Undercover. X.X the new version just sounds..a little weird for me, because i was so used to the old one.
i'm uploading vertical infinity and Undercover, but those two take a long time.and my computer crashed when it nearly finished uploading,so i have to upload it all over again :banghead: X.X in the meantime.. Seventh Heaven for you

i think the vestige pv is beautiful though ^^
Thanks for the songs!
Heart of Sword... would it by any change have anything to do with Kenshin? :relief:
-rika- shinya`
Jan 4, 2006, 15:11
yup it's the ending theme..do you already have it? :relief:
Nope. The name just screamed Kenshin at me :p
I haven't seen Kenshin the anime so I wouldn't know. I only knew that Judy and Mary did a song for Kenshin (the opening I think).
Ohhh~! Sounds good! Suits Kenshin better than the Judy and Mary opening. JaM one just shocked me. Nothing against the band, but the singer's childishly cute voice and bloody fighting opening scenes don't go together :relief:
-rika- shinya`
Jan 4, 2006, 15:36
heheh.. ^^ in undercover, he redid all of his best singles. kenshin really has many good theme songs ne. i love the anime to bits too! i was always rushing home to catch the anime. ^^;; but i have only watched the tokyo arc..
The English voice dub for Kenshin was HORRIBLE! Utterly horrible! If you're watching it with English dubs go watch the original Jap version with fansubs or something!
But yeah, the Kenshin story's lovely. When he finally talked about his past and Tomoe I cried. :(
I like Tomoe more than Kaoru... :okashii:
What was changed in the re-done version of his songs? Is it like Gackt's 6th day songs?
-rika- shinya`
Jan 4, 2006, 16:06
really? i watched the original japanese with subs ^o^ but i prefer kenshin alone..heheh bad of me
the singing style didn't change that much,um.. its just some of the music, but it's not remix, just re-do it. because some of the singles were quite old when he released them, so particularly the beats are quite different in some songs. and the new version is just as good, if not better than some of the old singles, for me anyway :-) heart of sword is just an exception. :bluush:
I'd prefer Kenshin with ME!
But really, forget pronouncing the Japanese places properly, the voice actor couldn't even pronounce Tomoe's name properly. The voice actor who did Tomoe's fiance called her "To-moe". Pronounced "moe" as you would pronounce "Joe" not "To-mo-e".
Sounded like "Toe Moe"
Very romantic for a dying man :okashii:
-rika- shinya`
Jan 4, 2006, 17:15
Sounded like "Toe Moe"
:emblaugh: :emblaugh: :emblaugh:.. yes, it really $ucks when they pronounce the name wrong ne..that happens in quite a few animes..i wonder if they knew that when they did the voice overs..:clueless:
oh my god...OH MY GOD! i have had 'invoke' for years any only realized that it is actually sung by a GUY! i..am still in shock....

T.M.Revolution (real name: Takanori Nishikawa; born September 19, 1970) is a Japanese pop singer originally from Shiga Prefecture. Nishikawa’s stage name stands for Takanori Makes Revolution (Japanese: Takanori ga kakumei wo okosu). He was originally signed under Antinos Records until its collapse in 2002, and is currently represented by Epic Records Japan. TMR is also the first artist to be signed under Tofu Records, a Sony-owned label promoting Japanese pop music in North America.
Nishikawa officially debuted as T.M.Revolution with his single Dokusai -monopolize- (Dictatorship -monopolize-) in May 1996. Nishikawa-san's first band was originally Luis-Mary, an indie music coordination featuring him as the lead vocalist (with the pseudonym "Haine"). Asakura Daisuke signed on with Nishikawa-san in 1995 under the record label FunHouse to release the first compiled single "BLACK OR WHITE?" (Daisuke Asakura expd. Takanori Nishikawa: Black or White). The selection process and the decision to work with Nishikawa-san was a long, hard choice for Asakura, as he was looking at producing either Katsurayama Shingo or Nishikawa. As it turns out, Nishikawa failed miserably with his first chance to sing for Asakura, and on a second chance, he took the yearning musician under his wings.
Dokusai -monopolize- was welcomed by thousands of fans, and his performance on Pop Jam with Asakura as the synthesist in June 1996 propelled an additional amount of unexpected sales, making the single sell out of its original printing. Months later, Nishikawa-san followed with another hit, Hesoshukujo -Venus-, and by August of that year, his first album Makes Revolution was released to the Japanese fans with a warm reception. By the release of his third single for the anime Rurouni Kenshin, Heart of Sword- ~Yoake Mae~ (Heart of Sword- Before the Dawn), Nishikawa-san had assured his success among Japanese fans.
T.M.Revolution incorporates many styles and genres of music. Each album differs greatly from one other, but the feeling of dance, techno and excellent vocals mixed with lyrics from Akio Inoue are present in all of his songs.
In March 1999, T.M.Revolution cut The Force, his most successful album to this day. In it, he released characteristic songs and fan favorites, among these being HOT LIMIT, Burnin' X'mas, THUNDERBIRD, and WILD RUSH. A special performance in 1999 at Tokyo Dome with producer Asakura was released, making the original dream of T.M.Revolution become a reality. Later that year, he teamed up with Asakura closely to reinvent the idea of T.M.Revolution, renaming the project the end of genesis T.M.R.evolution turbo type D (T.M.R.-e, for short). Working closely with each other, they slated the album Suite Season, mostly comprised of beautiful ballads incorporating heavy classical piano and really bringing Nishikawa's voice out as the center of the music.
However, the two have grown apart since T.M.R-e, and the album Progress restored the band to its original namesake. This doesn't mean, however, that the sound or style of the music changed one bit. Songs like LOVE SAVER and Madan -Der Freischütz- were part of this post T.M.R.-e era.
Since then, Nishikawa has self produced his music (Starting with the single Out of Orbit -Triple ZERO- in February of 2002. Asakura still composes and arranges much of T.M.Revolution, the only exception being the most recent compilation (UNDER:COVER, but Nishikawa-san has directed and arranged some of the tracks on vertical infinity). His albums coordinate (March 2003), SEVENTH HEAVEN (March 2004), and vertical infinity (January 2005) have been released by Tofu Records and are available for purchase in the US, along with the DVD's Summer Crush '02 and Sonic Warp: The visual fields Since the release of the ending song Web of Night for the movie Spiderman 2, Nishikawa has sung several songs completely in English, facilitating to his international audience.
Nishikawa-san has made 2 appearances in the US: Otakon 2003 in Baltimore, Maryland and Pacific Media Expo 2004 in Anaheim, California. Thousands of fans of anime piled into the convention arena, waiting to hear T.M.Revolution live, singing his songs from familiar shows as Rurouni Kenshin and Mobile Suit Gundam SEED. The reception by an American audience left him speechless, making him an international success.
Some fans today argue over the direction of T.M.Revolution. He has been involved with hosting the musical show Pop Jam, producing the band abingdon boys school, and doing the cover Silver and Gold Dance for the 90s hit dance band TRF (Tetsuya Rave Factory). From the album SEVENTH HEAVEN onward, the music has taken a more heavy feeling, incorporating more guitar, bass, and drums than the usual synthesized feeling fans can recall from hits like HIGH PRESSURE. The live band has become more involved with the actual recording of the music. Even his voice has taken a different direction, fine tuning the raw talented vocal spread from his early career to work with the melodious ballad sound of T.M.R.-e. UNDER:COVER (January 2006), TMR’s so-called “self-cover best album”, took liberty in rearranging 15 of the fans' most favorite songs, all done by election. The result was controversial: bringing songs like HIGH PRESSURE and WHITE BREATH under a more edgier sound, while Twinkle Million Rendezvous featured orchestral instruments (similar in style to Shiroi Yami [“White Darkness”], a ballad from vertical infinity). Asakura’s only contribution to that album was on the instrumental version of the Gundam SEED song Meteor (which he also performed on keyboards). His recent work includes the release of 10000000000 -billion- (June 2006), the two disc compilation all his singles from Dokusai -monopolize- to his latest, vestige, and DVD of all of his PVs made to date.
He has also stepped out of the music industry and into fashion, debuting DEFROCK, his own clothing line. The term is a combination of the word differential lock (automobiles and turbine engines being a heavy theme for the clothing line) and the word rock.
This year marks the 10th anniversary of the concept creation of T.M.Revolution and has been anticipated with much nostalgia for the old, and new, T.M.R.
T.M.Revolution, however, is still a project for everyone in Nishikawa-san's following. He wants to reach fans of every age, all over the world, bringing the revolution into the hearts of all. The line between vocalist and fan can only be separated by a sheet of music.

In Moon Child, it made me want to die! The whole Chinese to Japanese, then back thing when your harldy listening gives you some really bad confussion! I always have to correct people and tell them that it's not chinese, or it's not Japanese...they get so confused, so easily! HAHA!
---------------------------------
I ordered mine from YesAsia! I love that place...
that's where I got my Miyavi Calendar, and my friend got her Gackt Calendar! They're both amazing!
When I ordered Innocent Sorrow, I also bought the new Dir en Grey single (Agitated Screams of Maggots), December Love Song (English Version) and I preordered No ni Saku Hana no Yo Ni...
Gackt's new CD...
but I got the CD+DVD version...
I can't wait! (lol) I actually know what the title of his CD is in English...
without looking it up! But then again I cheated and read it from the Crown Records website! Hehe!
.... waw... ^^;
lol, the whole language thing - it's kinda like that in Ichi the Killer as well... only there's a lot more english in the mix as well >.<
and 2046... lol, my friend didn't even know half of it was in Japanese ^^;
but dang... that's alot of stuff...
i do all my ordering from tehre too... but i've yet to get a T.M. one >.<
any surgestions for which should be my first? ^.^

Abingdon boys school has a single...it's pretty good!
I don't particularly like a certain album...but I do like a lot of songs...Invoke, Vestige, Zips, and Heart of Sword (DUH! Rurouni Kenshin! HAHA!). *not in order* Zips is my favorite out of those. I don't have many T.M.Revolution songs...so I can't really say anything about what songs I like and don't like.
Sorry, maybe someone else can help you more? (lol)
lol
well... thanks for the surgestions anyway! ^.^

I don't think I've heard Crosswise..hmm, I'll have to see if my friend has it...he gave me most of my anime songs...he's amazing!
Thanks primelajule...see you in the Gackt thread!
i >think< i've got them... but i don't know...
friend sent me a lod of Gundamn seed soundtrack songs, and i know some of them are T.M. at least... but cos he's Japanese the tags were all scrambled and stuff because of the zip and switch to my comp >.<

You...I am talking to you on like three different threads! I like that, it's funny!!
You have to download an encoding "package", you can find it in a menu...I don't know what type of computer you have...so poke around your menus to find it.
if you mean have it so my computer can read Japanese symbols then it can... but... there's just one type of format that it never pics up on... a lot of other peoples don't either... it's really annoying ^^;
but thanks for the tip... it's possible there are other things i can do that i haven't tried yet >.<
lol, and the talking to me? why, that's one of the joys of forums XDDD
