Most of the programs I can think of require some kind of degree. One of the other prerequisites is probably spelling "English" correctly o_O

Nah, as long as she has a college diploma in anything and a pulse (provided she's a native speaker of English), she doesn't need to be able to spell much at all to get a job.
Holding on to it, well, that's another story. Depends on how many students complain.
Yeah, that's right. NO PROBLEM! Welcome to Japan!
Those English companies only care that you have the bare minimum requirements to obtain a visa and can keep students. That's all.

hey, i'm in the same problem as the guy (or gal, can't tell really) who started this thread in the first place. i'm going to head off to Uni soon and once i'm in there i will be stuck for 5 years -_-, which is why i want to take a year out and go to japan before i get boged down in Uni. and there is the problem: no diploma (good grades in high school though) so i'm wondering if i could even get a job in japan, i don't mind what kind of job it is...anything appart from selling myself or administrative work ^-^. does anyone know anything about geting any job in japan without a diploma (hell, i'd even do intensive labour!). thanks.

Go to the Japanese embassy and ask about a "Working Holiday" visa.

i have thought about that but i'd need to find a job before i leave the UK (i don't have that much money on me...enough to get there and pay for a month's rent and eat only rice). arn't there any job agencies that i can go through to find a placement before leaving? knowing the current situation in japan i feel that finding a job on the spot will be very hard.

Well, I don't know too much about working holiday visas, but I think you can use your parents' bank accounts as proof of financial standing.

About the job...well, frankly I don't know. You could check webpages on the internet for say teaching English. I used to know a kiwi guy who worked at a ski lodge in Hiroshima, but I have no idea how he got that job. All I can say is, good luck!

I was told by my lecturer when I was in Japan to never, ever work with Nova, because they apparantly work their employees to the bone to the point where many end up despairing because of the fact they can't quit as they are in a contract. But, that was just his word.
