Has to be Hyde, he is absolutely gorgeous and his voice is still incredible! Although Ken is hilarious, and just so cute too!!

It was a toss-up between Ken and Hyde.

Ken has got to be the strongest composer of the group, having written most of the 'epic' (dramatic, climatic, etc.) songs like Forbidden Lover, Jojoushi, tsuioku no jookei, kaze no yukue, Butterfly's Sleep, etc. And also, it goes without saying that his solos are the highlights of each song. Each solo fits tightly with each song, and each have their unique flair.

Hyde has also written a lot of great songs, like Ophelia and Anemone, but he tends to alternate between the poppier, commercially successful sounds of Honey (which I tend not to like) and the epic sounds of those ones mentioned here. In addition, his vocals are strong and easily distinguishable from other musicians. Even the soundalikes who have sprung up in the past don't have the same quality of intonation and variation that he has.

I ended up going for Hyde, simply because I liked his solo works better, even though I know we're talking about in the context of L'arc en Ciel. ROENTGEN showed that he can do soft, flowing, rich compositions, while I couldn't really get into Ken's SOAP works. If I had looked only at L'arc en Ciel stuff, I probably would have picked Ken.

In person, they both seem cool. However, Ken has a rather high-pitched voice that I would have never expected before hearing him speak. It got on my nerves (yeah, I'm superficial). Also, Hyde has this kind of reserved nature backstage sometimes, that I find a little endearing.

Yeah, I'd have to say that Hyde and Ken are two of the better composers in the band. I think I personally like Hyde's work better then Ken's. Songs like As One, My Dear, and Honey are some of my favorite J-Rock songs ever. But some of Ken's work is also very high on my list, I think Forbidden Lover ALONE gives Hyde a run for his money. But in the end why I think Hyde's my fav band member is that his lyrices are a good head and shoulders above anyone else's and also like you said his voice is amazing.

And while I'm thinking of composers in Laruku, Yukihiro needs to write more of their music. Revelation was my favorite song by Laruku for the longest time and his co-work with Hyde on New World produced an amazing song. Yeah, he needs to write more.

Don't know about you but I'm smelling ANOTHER hiatus. All this year is booked for Hyde's Solo Tour meaning he will have no time for L'Arc~en~Ciel. So I see another hiatus coming. Which is a shame since Laruku was on such a good role last year, they were climbing back to the top but now it seems they may drift back down again. I hope not because I think they're good together (God, I sound like I'm talking about a couple that might be breaking up :eek2:), they're all wonderful Solo--well, maybe not Ken but nevermind--but I think there is just something magical about when all their elements are brought together.
But like I said, Hyde + Solo Tour = possibly another hiatus.

I guess climbing to the top isn't L'Arc's priority anymore. I get the feeling that they're now just a band that's doing what they do for fun. They don't have the same intense competitive atmosphere anymore (the band members ARE getting old as much as I would love to deny it :relief: ). It doesn't really matter though right? Real L'Arc fans will continue to be fans even if it means waiting patiently.

As long as they don't break up, I'm fine with it. Their solo work is just as enjoyable. Now we can appreciate L'Arc individually doing what they personally want without having to compromise as a band.

I just love them as a band is all. I love HYDE and Tetsu69 (haven't listened to a lot of Acid Android so get off my case and as for S.O.A.P ...:okashii:) don't get me wrong but like I said there just a certain magic L'Arc~en~Ciel has that's just missing from their Solo Projects.
And I honestly think the members may be on burn out. I mean they've been touring and making music non-stop since '04. They seem tired.

Not only was it their final stop in their 4concert, 3city Asia Live Tour, but it was their final concert together before they went to explore solo projects (no worries, L’Arc fans - they plan to come back together in a few years). (that’s about 166 tickets a second) - and this just on month after L’arc performed four concerts in Tokyo each full of 25 000 fans!
‘To play live no matter where the venue is, it’s always fun for us,’ said tetsu, and that was an understatement. Both sets of 50 000 fans were treated to a 3hour extravaganza of Jrock music, special effects and entertainment. The arrival of each member on stage was met with screams of Beatles-esque fervor from the predominantly female audiance. Those screams did not subside for the entire 3hour concert, which featured a large selection of their hits from the last decade, including their themes to GTO and Fullmetal Alchemist.
After an hour of playing someof their greatest hits, L’arc left the stage only to return for a second set as Punk-en-Ciel – featuring all 4 band members on different instruments! Lead guitarist Ken became the drummer, drummer Yukihiro switched to bass, bassist tetsu became the guitarist and lead vocalist, and hyde donned and eyepatch and took up lead guitare. Afterwards, the band members returned to their original instruments for a third full set of hit songs!
The concert set-up was intense: fireballs shot from the stage; giant balloons fillled with smaller balloons were tossed into the audience; concertgoers were dazzled by hundreds of lights and lasers; and each audience member received a glow stick, which hyde told them to save for the last song. At rock shows, Japanese audience members rock out by waving their arms, with bent elbows, from behind their heads to the front in perfect rhythm with one another. Young and old, boy and girl, gothic lolita and office women alike all joined together in waving their arms, creating a sea of undulating light in the Tokyo Dome.
Fullmetal Alchemist fans received a special treat when hyde performed a ‘transmutation’ – after clapping his hands together, all 50 000 audience members performed a wave out from the stage, transmuting the mega-concert into an anime fan’s dream

Ark is a strange album. It's odd 'cause most people call Real their blotchy album but actually I think Real is more like one piece of work, much more so then Ark. Ark is the blotchy one to me. That's just a cruel thing to say about Hyde and Gackt. They are truly, really close and I think it's terrible to say such hurtful things concerning them. Gackt did go over to Hyde's house and sit down with him and had a loong talk inorder to convince him. After he left Hyde talked about waking up and seeing Gackt's face and wanting to kiss him.

Even after the movie was made the two coninued to see eachother even going so far as to go on vacations together such as up on the mountains to go skiing.

It's easy to put wo and two together. Even if it just for fun. :-)

I'm sure Hide My Heart was joking about Gackt and Hyde. It seemed obvious to me, because the comments were so exaggerated that they couldn't possibly be read as a serious effort to start rumours. It struck me as just throw-away comments. Now, if they had been posted in the context of coming straight into the Laruku thread and banging on about how how much she hates Hyde (and/or Gackt) and how they are gay or cross-dressers and contemptible and ugly and all that kind of crap (and yes, I have seen some retards sign onto forums apparently for this express purpose :okashii: ), I would have read her comments differently. But in the context of her other posts which express her as a liker-of-jrock with a dry sense of humour, I can't see any need to take offence over such an (intentionally) ridiculous post.

Hmm, actually I have this weird theory going that I act whatever age I just left behind. So really I think I act like I'm 17. I think you have to go through all of the trials of that age in order to fully claim it as your's. I'm still working on the 18 thing though...actually I think part of being 17 was learing to act my age so I think I embody more of my actual age in my actions right now than any other previous age I've been.
