I'd say Yukihiro, because he's doing great things as a producer. Just listen to Get out from the Shell, which he composed and produced. It was certainly one of the most outstanding Laraku songs in quite some time.

He recently released some solo-work under the name Acid Android. Didn't hear anything yet, but it's bound to be good.

Although I like all of them, I'd have to go with Tetsu since he seems like the driving force of the band (after reading some history on the band)... no disrespect to the others, though.

You're right, it wa Tetsu that put the band together, and named the band after a movie he watched. Tetsu and Hyde are the only original members, the others came later.
Tetsu69's new album is good. I like track 5 and bonus track 69 best. Hyde's album is more mellow since he married Megumi.
Hyde is still my favorite though, Tetsu my 2nd best.

L'arc-en-Ciel are getting back together, but only for one last concert, (well 7 actually) "7 days in Shibuya" this Summer. More info on their website.

Hyde's solo outings from 2001 through 2002 featured a lot of acoustic/unplugged sound. This time around, he seems to be returning to his roots. The maxi single features hard edged rock sound that fires up his emotive vocals.

Heh, none of them are reasonable when it comes to pricing. :D

Unless you want to settle for Hong Kong or Taiwan releases, though. That'll save you shiploads of money, but it's just not the same as original Japanese versions.

For online J-Pop CD shops, I have to recommend CD Japan above all others... great selection, reasonable prices and FAST shipping! Many times I've had CDs ship from Japan on Friday and arrive in upstate New York on Monday... about a three DAY turnaround time!

I don't think that there is a cheap way of importing CDs.
I order my CDs from The Japan Centre in London, but they add their own profit to the price, plus there's the cost of importing, and then postage from them to me. So I'm paying over £26, for a £16 CD! However alot of my Japanese friends say that they download music from the web. As I haven't worked out how to do this, I must continue to pay full price.
If I go to Japan, I'll mail you some good CDs!:wave:

I might have to cancel my trip to see them tour next spring.:bawling:

I really wanted to go! But i was going for 1 year to study. Courses start in either April or November. But now I will postpone my trip until the later one, because I want to be here for my friend's graduation.Then he will go back to Japan in August. Although this year I missed one of my friend's weddings, because I went to see L'Arc-en-ciel in concert. But this is a different priority because, I am in love!:love:

yeah, it was really cool! I really enjoyed it! and Hyde interacted with the audience. at 1 point he was standing at the other end of the row i was seated in. I was waving so much to him, but he couldn't notice because everyone else was doing the same. it was a sea of hands. I wanted to go again later that week, but i couldn't get a ticket a 2nd time. I was lucky to get that ticket, I was told they had sold out within 5 mins of going on sale, because the fanclub were given a few weeks advantage of ticket sales, but we can't join the fanclub, unless we live in japan. shame. But some people cancelled tickets for whatever reasons, so there were a few spare. I got there just in time! Was the best concert i have been to!
but they are touring again in spring! I was going to go, but I't s not certain that i will be as lucky in getting a ticket this time around. but it was worth a try!
But now I'm torn between seeing my fav band, and spending more time with the guy i love. even though we are just friends, and he has no interest in me.
love is so complicated.

I haven't been here for a while, and I saw this thread. I haven't seen anyone talk about L'Arc~en~Ciel's new album. They're here to stay, at least until they release that next album. It's due out at the end of March. No one should be saying goodbye to them yet.

I voted for Haido. I'm going to get 666 when it comes out. He has done a lot of good solo work, and he has an amazing voice. That's all I got to say. Hope to post here more again!

I know some members of laruku have been in other bands, but I hadn't heard of Tetsu being in Malice Mizer, so after reading your post, i did some research, and found that actually the Tetsu from Mizer, went on to be member in another band called "Zigzo". They are very big in Japan! They have been going for about 10 years. They have 14 albums incl 4 CDs of their best Hits.
Their last concert this Summer sold 87,000 tickets. They played for 7 days in Shibuya. All members also have solo albums.

Hi. i was searching for hyde and tetsu`s pic and i came across this forum so i decided to register. so basically i`m pretty new here, anyway, i would like to cast my vote. i`ll go for Tetsu cause he`s a very talented bass player and i oh so admire him for that, did i mention that he`s [kawaii] too? specially in the snowdrops PV where he was wearing red and white plus that killer platform shoes. he`s so adorable. and.. i`ll go for Hyde too cause aside from being a hot bishie that he is, his voice is awesome -- so original, one of a kind, rare! he can surely melt ur heart out if you hear him sing. but all in all they`re all talented. love the guitar solos in all their songs and yuki`s a GREAT drummer too.

Yes, it's great to be a L'arc fan right now. I first listened to their music a few years ago, found them pretty good, but only fell for them recently.

In response to Ewok85, L'Arc~en~Ciel is a rock band which was formed in 1991 and had their major debut in 1994. The band is consisted of four members, Hyde (vocal), Tetsu(bass), Ken(guitar) and Yukihiro(drums). They have risen to huge popularity in late 90s, but decided to take a rest at 2000 while its members went on to do solo projects. It's been three and a half years since they released an album, and on 31st March, 2004, they released their latest album SMILE.

I wanted to play bass guitar years before i got into L'Arc-en-Ciel, after I gave up my dreams of playing lead guitar, I used to sit in my room working out bass lines on my accoustic. then my Uncle lent me his "flying V" bass guitar from his rock days in the 1980's, (he was bass player in a band called "Mayday" in 1980, he remembers playing gigs in the same city as Duran Duran at the same time, before Duran Duran became famous.) but he sold that guitar now (T_T) he came with me to music store to pick out a nice bass for me to buy, but we ordered one from the shop, and they never contacted us to say if they recieved it or not. so i didn't buy it in the end. so i still can't play now. LOL.
I like Glay too, but Teru doesn't sound as lovely and sexy as Hyde's sweet voice! Actually i thought the memebers are not so good looking as L'Arc-en-Ciel either, but Jiro (bass guitar) is best looking one , he's cute!

In their English song "Spirit Dreams Inside," I think Hyde sounds like Simon Le Bon of Duran Duran (an ancient English band) which has completely different style from L'Arc en Ciel and I don't even think Hyde is trying to imitate Simon Le Bon.

Yukihiro is definitely good... correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't he in the group ZI:KILL before joining L'arc? I haven't heard all that much of their music, but the song they provided for the second Fatal Fury (Garou densetsu) OVA, called "Calling", is a great one for sure! If I'm right about Yukihiro being in this group, you should check out this band for more of his drum work...

And to confirm from above, former L'arc drummer Sakura was in fact in the group ZIGZO as well as Ken's S.O.A.P. group.

And now L'arc is coming live to Baltimore, MD at the end of this month... it truly is a great time to be a L'arc fan!

Don't give up hope... up until very recently, I never would have thought that a group like L'arc~en~ciel would make a move like this... hopefully these are just the first baby steps in a move to get some of our fave J-Pop/Rock artists into the international music world...

If L'arc is received as well as TM Revolution was at last year's Otakon, I'd have to imagine this is only the beginning... I'll be rooting for the day when J-Pop fans the world over will get the chance to see their favorite acts live! Let's all do our best to make that happen!

His songs are great, and his guitar playing excellent!!!
But for me it`s just his appearance that makes me rate him lower than the other guys. I think he looked good in the earlier days, but now he looks like a different person. I prefer him without the facial hair.
Probably I don`t know which order I would put Yukihiro and Ken.
Just Hyde 1st, Tetchan 2nd, and then Yukihiro & Ken joint 2nd, coz I keep changing my mind. (^_~) LOL

Actually I think it`s not a case of people "not liking" Ken, as you put it.
Coz let`s face it, most of us here like ALL the guys, they are L`Arc-en-Ciel after all ne?!!! (^_~)
Just coz people choose maybe Hyde or Tetsu as their favorite member, doesn`t mean they "don`t like" Ken or Yukihiro. Just they put them in order of who they like the best. But everyone has different opinions.
It`s like me friends in school, we liked an American boy band, but each of us had a different favorite member, but when we went to their concert, most of the other fans seemed to prefer the youngest guy, and liked the oldest guy the least, but there were still people there that liked him best!
It might also be to do with the amount of media attention each band member gets. We hardly hear any news on Ken or Yuki, but Hyde and Tetsu get alot more coverage ne?! Anyway, that`s just a couple of theories. But I`m sure not many people "dislike" Ken. He`s fantastic with his fingers afterall ne?!! (^_~)

Yea but I'm just learning. Not in a band yet or anything. I had and electric and an acoustic but the acoustic got ruined when my house flooded and I sold the electric cause I needed cash. I don't think I'll ever part with my bass now that I have it... I'll starve before I give it up.

breaking up? no, no. people thought they were breaking up a few years ago, because they hadn`t released anything for several years, and then they had their solo projects, so when they announced the "Shibuya Seven Days" Tour in 2003, everyone flocked to see them because they thought that they had got back together for one last concert. But at the end of the concert they announced their new album, and that there would be another tour in Spring of 2004. They have since brought out their album "Smile" and various CD singles, and also released "Smile" as the first album that they have released in the USA. Last year they also played a concert in the USA at an anime convention, as their song was used for "Full Metal Alchemist". This year they have also anounced another new album, and this year they will tour in Korea, China, and then play 2 days at Tokyo Dome in September. They are very much still together. (^_~)v

One of the main reasons the Japanese music scene has sucked me in, is because American style bands and artists.... bore me now, they just "sing" the same things over and over again and get to be so damn repetitive. Hyde and all vocalists in general (including American-ish ones too... I GUESS) are just amazing, and I would find it difficult having to choose a favorite vocalist if such a poll or question was posted/created.

It's very true though! My family is kind of... shunning me now, I guess you could call it, because I rarely listen to English music nowadays, instead, in my computer, or my Discman, you could find German, Japanese and/or Spanish... I only understand the lyrics after looking up translations though, and there's no way I've got time to do that for all the songs I have, lol. Apart from that my Japanese isn't good enough to know more than a few words and phrases in songs (if I'm lucky), so if you have the skills, I envy you! :p

My Mother borrows some of my Japanese CDs, (^_~) but she prefers Moriyama Naotarou & Chemistry. My parents banned me from playing L`Arc in front of them. But I sneaked Hyde`s CD on in my Father`s car, and he didn`t notice, coz it was Roentgen, so more mellow than his usual rock.

My Mother let`s me dress up in all kinds of strange costumes (cosplay) as long as I don`t wear anything too revealing like short skirts. She takes photos for me when I dress as characters and stuff. She`s quite open minded. She likes David Bowie too, and he used to dress as a woman too sometimes back in the 70`s. She says most of the guys I like look very feminine. (I guess that could include Michael Jackson too, I used to like him for about 10 years before I went thru the David Bowie phase, and then onto L`Arc. People kept telling me he lookes like a woman, coz he was trying to make himself look like Elizabeth Taylor "apparently". Though I preferred his look around the time of "BAD". )
Anyway, apparently Hyde`s mother wanted a girl, so she used to dress Hyde as a girl, which might be why he sometimes dresses feminine now and wears his hair long, (or maybe just a rock thing) but it didn`t change his sexuality, he still grew up to be straight. and now he`s married with a child. *extremly jealous, and also late for class "bye bye" *
