Akira and GitS are classics.
I watched Metropolis like 8 times in the first 2 weeks I bought it. Maybe partially because of the soundtrack? (Those last two have amazing music as well. The only two I have the music for)
Sticking with music the series Cowboy Bepop also has great music.

Gosh I miss the 90s when I could afford the money and time to buy or rent everything available in my area.

Rurouni Kenshin OVA is by far the best anime ever!

The second OVA,tsuiokuhen, I would call a masterpiece, but the first I thought was terrible and completely inaccurate. I just pretend like it never happened and that kenshin and kaoru still shared there weird relationship like in the manga.

Cowboy Bebop or Samurai Champloo. All the other music in every series I've ever seen seems lackluster in comparison to how well the visual and audio are matched in these.

Also, the beatboxer from that one episode in Champloo makes my day time and time again.

Well I am not to into animes, but Cowboy Bebop was amazing. One of the best shows I have ever seen (anime or not). I also liked Ruroni Kenshin, FLCL, and Trigun. I have to disagree with most about the dark ending. I really liked it, seemed more fitting. I am tired of always seeing a happy ending.

My personal favourite is Ouran High School Host Club, its simply genius. The characters are well written and origanal, the storyline is fun and quirky. There are some genuine comedic gems in here as well. The romance between the characters and how they grow as the story continues is just beautiful.

My favourite anime is Ginga Nagareboshi Gin, has been for years. :) I loved it as a child and love it still. I even had to buy the uncut version DVD-box.
Second favourite is Monster. I absolutely loved the plot, the characters (especially the bad guy, Johan Liebert), animation... everything! The plot really ensnared me. It was dark and the atmosphere was sometimes really haunting. I really loved the little 'monster stories' along the series.
Movie I really liked was Neko no ongaeshi. Baron reminded me so much of my own cat. <33
