I was offered a job at NTT in Atsugi. I have never been to Japan, and am not very familiar with japanese culture. I can't even speak the language. Since I was offered the job, I began to learn japanese. Do most people in japan speak english or are there very few, espicially in Atsugi. What kind of town is atsugi, is it big town or is it a small one. What can I expect work to be like in japan, ie the japanese work culture. Is Atsugi an expensive place to stay. If there is anyone who lives in Atsugi, I would love to hear your thoughts. Thanks for the input.

Long hours, and a lot of dedication! It would be best if you would be able to at least speak basic Japanese. It all depends on where you will work though.

Congratulations on your job offer!
Atsugi is a suburb in Kanagawa prefecture, just below Tokyo. I think there is a US Navy base there, so you will find the signs, menus, directions written in English in many places.
Cost of living might seem very expensive when you come from the US, but in most cases, your salary will be enough to live comfortably.

Misa is right. Atsugi is home to a U.S. Naval Air Station. And right next to it is the U.S. Army's Camp Zama.
You won't lack for English speakers.

If you've been offered the job despite having no Japanese theres a fair bet you'll be OK with just english ;)
