Dear all,
I am a graduate student of International Business at Sophia University Tokyo. I am currently writing my master thesis about foreigners' (but not normal international tourists!) motivations for sightseeing and leisure tourism in Japan as well as the obstacles that they encounter in relation to travel in Japan.
On February 13, 2006 (Monday), I started collecting primary data from foreigners in Japan with the help of an online questionnaire:
http://www.befrager.de/befragung.aspx?projekt=306
In more detail, the survey is intended for western foreigners currently residing but not intending to remain permanently in Japan. The total intended length of your stay in Japan should be at least 7 months. (It does not matter though if you moved to Japan only, for instance, 3 months ago.) Also, at least one family member should have a regular (full-time-work) income.
The results of this survey will be forwarded to officials working, for instance, at Japan National Tourist Organization (JNTO) in order to help them improve tourism services in Japan.
And you can make a very valuable contribution to this end by filling out the survey questionnaire. It will only take 5-10 minutes to complete the questionnaire. Also your girl-/boyfriend/partner/spouse may fill out this questionnaire.
Moreover, you may win one of three Tokyo (Restaurant) Coupons books! (retail price: 3,150 JPY per piece; for more information, please, refer to the following website: http://www.tokyocoupons.com/index.php?lang=en.) All you need to do is to fill out this questionnaire until MARCH 13, 2006 and leave your contact address/phone number at the end of the questionnaire. If you choose not to do so you will remain completely anonymous. In any case, your data will be kept strictly confidential. I am only interested in aggregate data.
The new coupons book will be available in April 2006. The winners will be contacted by the end of March 2006.
In case you have problems understanding certain English words in the questionnaire, please, refer to one of the following free online dictionaries: English-German (http://dict.leo.org/?lang=de&lp=ende), English - other languages (http://www.freedict.com/).
If you are interested in the results of this study or have any questions, please, do not hesitate to contact me at katrinkalb@web.de.
In advance, thank you very much for your interest and support!
Best regards,
Katrin Kalb.

frankly, I'd be much more inclined to help you if you were an actual contributing member to this site as opposed to just another rookie with a research project

slow down there gaijin... lol

I wasnt sure what to think of his post either but i figured i would wait to see what others posted. it seems to be borderline spam but then again some people may enjoy this type of thing and that betters the forum.

I took the 10 mins and filled it out. if anything it was something to pass the time.

currently residing....not permently... HA!! I'm free !! I don't have to bear the guilt of having ignored a poor, hard working student's data gathering effort !! Taaa Daa...*dancing around the edges of one of the smaller craters on the equator of Mars, throwing paper flowers in the almost air*

Having students of my own, who have to write graduation thesis, I know the pressure well...as all who have done the same anyway....

I'm free....not obligated...*Mars Man sings as he fades into the dust blown distance...
