Hello, I was wondering if anyone here could tell me what J-pop is? Please describe the music to me... is it techno or industrial or punk? I do not have any music sharing stuff on my computer since I upgraded (used to use WinMX) but I will probably go out and look around for some J-pop.

The term itself stands for Japanese Popmusic. In practice, this term is often used to descrive any music from Japan, although purists rather simply narrow it down to just popmusic.

It's not really different from Western music though. Every genre is represented in the Japanese musicscene, it's just that there are different artists involved.
