So what's hot in China these days?

->"The Promise", — at $35 million the most expensive film ever made in China

->"Riding Alone for Thousands of Miles,"- the story of a Japanese fisherman who travels

-> "Myth", - pulled in about $12 million.

-> "Seven Swords," - about supreme swordsmen who band together to fight evil, grossed $10 million.

-> "Seoul Raiders," - the story of a Chinese detective who works as a Japanese secret agent in Tokyo and pursues bad guys all the way to Seoul, earned $5 million.

->"Initial D," - also fared well, largely because of the popularity of the lead actor, Jay Chou, 27, one of Taiwan's hottest young singers (A Japanese and Hong Kong joint production).

Anybody see any of these ?

->"The Promise", — at $35 million the most expensive film ever made in ChinaI heard it's pretty good, I'm downloading that one :)

->"Riding Alone for Thousands of Miles,"- the story of a Japanese fisherman who travels It's a Chinese movie called "Qian li zou dan qi"
Spoken in both Japanese and Mandarine :) Heard it's a nice movie.

-> "Myth", - pulled in about $12 million. I want to see this one too, but I heard it's not that special, rather boring.

-> "Seven Swords," - about supreme swordsmen who band together to fight evil, grossed $10 million. Saw this one in China last year, it was pretty good, but the 4hour-uncut version should be better :(

-> "Seoul Raiders," - the story of a Chinese detective who works as a Japanese secret agent in Tokyo and pursues bad guys all the way to Seoul, earned $5 million. Heard of it, haven't seen it yet.

->"Initial D"Saw it, sucked pretty hard.Chinese who want to make a movie about a Japanese anime -.^ Everything was in Japanese, YET they didn't talk Japanese ! Don't watch this if you are a Initial D fan ;-)

Seven swords i thought was extremely boring...too many subplots that werent explained, too many characters who didnt seem to have much depth to them, and Donnie Yen's attempt to speak Korean was horrible...
Visually it's a pretty good , and maybe worth watching just once...

The Myth i made a thread a while back but no one showed much interest :p
I quite liked it myself, possibly mainly because the era it's based in Chinese history i find interesting. Also i quite like Kim Hee Sun.
The only thing i think let's it down is that the special effects are a bit weak (looks like they used outdated cgi(?)) and the story jumped too much between past and present.
Alot of Jackie Chan fans seemed to be let down he didnt make another Armour of God'esque movie, but i think he is too old to make those kinda movies now.
