(After) Japanese for Busy People 2

Ok, so i mentioned in a thread a little while ago that i have been using the Japanese for busy people textbook and that it does has its downfalls. I will finish the book very soon and am looking for something to progress with other than the next volume of JfBP (number 3). For instance, I hear that the "Genki" range is considered a good choice by a lot of the forum users.

My reservation about changing textbooks is that other textbooks may cover material in a different order, which may lead to reviewing some topics and not having a clue about others. this is pushing me towards purchasing JfBP3.

any ideas? :?

I used JFBP3, although I didn't work through 1 and 2. It came in useful to me but I can't say that another wouldn't have been better since I haven't seen the Genki books or anything. Reviewing old topics is never a bad thing, you may understand them better after reading a new explaination. If you are worried about missing grammar, get a book like 完全マスター３級文法 too which would pick up on anything you missed.

However, no matter what you do I recommend you also get the book 'basic connections' if you don't have it already. Its not a real textbook, but I think its vital for everybody.

i think i will just go ahead and purchase the third in the series. it certainly can't hurt. the book you also mentioned will be put on the same shopping list.

kanzen masuta- series is the best out there, and if you get a discount by purchasing the rest of the series, say from Amazon, I'd say go for it since you won't be sorry. I passed all the jlpt just from using that, nihongo journal (for the listening), and watching tv. It basically covers all the grammar that you will need to survive in Japan (in a very user-friendly manner that doesn't overwhelm you), not to mention that the exercises are great.
