Yes, I had been following that story as well. It was strange, and now it looks as though she'll get some help--she surely needs it.

Guh... why didn't she do it to herself instead? -__-

And of course, it looks like her punishment will be light. :okashii:
I know a lawyer in Tokyo who succesfully defended his two clients in a murder case. The clients, a married couple, had killed their only son. Their justification was that he was burdensome as he had no job, was violent and drank.

"Corrective education"?!
This girl is a murderer plain and simple. She also killed animals.
I don't buy that this was "an experiment". Maybe instead of using labratory animals, she should be used instead for as long as she lasts. I think that would be fitting.
Actually, she needs to be locked up for good and not let out.

Developmental Problems? If you think about it, if she has done it to animals, then it is developmental problems. Even if she did it to her mother, it is still classable as developmental problems. But trying to cover up by poisoning herself, that goes from developmental problems to pre-meditated murder.
She should be tried for murder, at the very least manslaughter if her mother does die.
PS: Welcome to Jref a2n fever. Interesting to see that your first post contains 'She deserves to be JAILED. :[

I'm sorry.. and experiment usually has a purpose.. usually a BENEFICIAL purpose... what was that in this case? how is anyone going to be bettered?
I don't know the girl.. her family her mother or anything else.. so I can't say "SHE ISN'T CRAZY SHE IS A MURDERER" or anything else. However, it sounds to me like the girl is just... well how shall i say? a cold blooded killer?
I personally hate the whole "I'm insane.. pity me" defence.. however, i personally think this girl does need to be checked out..

What a really crazy person. I hope she gets the help she desparatly needs. The world's been on such a crash-course since 1991, with all of these wars and killings and stuff.

i could never harm my mother. This story sickens me.. I mean I've heard stories of people going nuts and killing their parents, which isn't good either,.. but to purposefully poision your mother, to watch her suffer and grow sicker and sicker by the day, it would just break my heart I could never do something like that. After we get to a certain age parents trust us as adults, especially as they grow older and need more assistance. Its disgusting that someone could betray that trust simply to indulge in some sick fantasy.

I reckon she could get plenty of help with a life imprissionment sentence! But then again, life imprisonment over here about 3 years. J/K
Just like the mothers that wanted to play pachinko and leave their child to die a painful suffering death in a hot car in the parking lot, last sentence I saw for that was about two years. The reasoning is b/c it was her child that should be able to do what she pleases, of course if it was someones elses child that would make that particular life more important, how can they justify that?

I'm sure that even though she killed small animals and poisoned her mother, still, if she didn't do it for entertainment, or some other immature reason, then maybe she doesn't deserve to go to prison. Because how would she learn from that?
I'm sure that her going to a reform school would be best because then she can learn that what she did was wrong, and become a better person after hopefully.
what a shameless freak -:} she's basically getting away with it, and about the other case - that's just completely wrong

Heh, just because women commit less crimes than men alot of people it seems think women aren't very capable of such things. Women have dark sides to them as well.
We're like other animals, it's in our evolutionary biology to not fit the societal model of perfection and be a bit insane or evil.
It's really too bad that whatever her mother did to make her so angry, that she didn't manage to channel that anger in a more productive way. She's now lost her dear mother and her future as well.

She needs to be in a mental institution

She should go to prison. If she has a book, she tried it on animals and she did it to her mother, to me that's just disrespectful. Your mother gives you life and you tried to take hers, by "Experimenting". It hurts to see if I ever did that to my mother because I can't live without my moither. Her family doesn't want her charged and I understand why. It's their daughter. I know the mother feels hurt, but she loves her daughter so much, she doesn't want to put her in a place like jail. The girl indeed needs help, but it would it help her?

I guess it was time for the biennial Japanese patricide:
Japanese girl kills father with axe (http://www.thewest.com.au/aapstory.aspx?StoryName=419554)
These kids are f***d up.

It sounds like she had some insecurity issue with her mother, poisening her mother to death like that over a long period of time, sounds like she was trying to control her mother.
What she did was completely heartless though, i wonder if she has any remorse or guilt at all...Its quite scary, imagining a gilr like that who is so heartless.

How amusing, a girl who killed her mother. Justification or not, murder is still a horrid sin. Though, when one looks upon the past, we humans have committed so many other crimes. Were those murderers punished? No, the victors were praised and celebrated, such a shameful history. A killer is a killer, murder is murder.
In any case, it may seem quite soft, but I believe everyone deserves another chance.
Also, all those other people who say she should have killed herself instead are no better than her. Death is never the answer. Yes, it is eventual but it is cowardly and in your own little perceptions.
