View Full Version : Guides and Popups
I just checked out the Kyoto guide on the main page, and I was flooded with so many popups that it was like being at a porn site (or so I've heard :relief:). Is that really necessary? Couldn't there be banners or some other sort of advertising there instead? If it's at all possible, I'd like for the popups to be gone. There are few things in life I hate more....

I didn't get a single pop-up. You wouldn't be using that crappy Windblows internet explorer, would you ?

I use firefox at home, so I doubt that I would see them...but here, I'm using that crappy IE stuff...so I was flooded!
Well, as far as I know, Safari is made by the same people who made FireFox, so there shouldn't be much of a difference in performance. Still, there are popups, and that's annoying.

As far as I know, Safari is made by Apple, not the Mozilla team, it may (and probably does) just uses the same rendering engine as Firefox. There is the IE rendering engine, which I think works best---- and then there is the gecko based rendering engines, which are a bit weird and clunky...
But for your needs, Firefox would be the best choice I think...
info on Safari: Here (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Safari_browser).
I have problems running Firefox for some reason, though.
Oh, I just realized that I have the popup blocker turned off for jref.com because I have my options set to show me when I have a new PM, which is done by popup. I suppose I could turn it back on and change the options, but really I'd rather there not be any popup ads on the site.
Thanks for the info, though.
