Who is BoA?
BoA (권보아 Kwon, Boa, born in November 5, 1986) is a Korean pop music singer. She has released albums in both South Korea and Japan, and her Korean record company, SM Entertainment, is positioning her as a cross-cultural star in Asia. She has released nine full-length albums, three mini-albums, two compilation albums, two remix albums, and over thirty singles in South Korea and Japan. Her albums have also been released as "overseas versions" throughout Asia and her total record sales are quickly approaching the ten million mark. BoA's first language is Korean, but she also speaks fluent Japanese and conversational English, and has performed versions of her songs in Mandarin Chinese. She has also composed and written the lyrics for several of her songs.

BoA broke records in both Korea and Japan with her smash hits, including "No. 1," "Valenti," and "Listen to My Heart". She has made strides in music and acting with chart-breaking albums released in both Japanese and Korean (BoA accounts for over 75% of musical exports from Korea).

I hope you guys like her, I think she is great and should get a little bit more attention on this forum, because she has been on the number 1 in Korea and Japan several times, and even preformed on Kōhaku Uta Gassen (http://www.jref.com/forum/showthread.php?t=23868)

In 8th grade I had a Korean roommate at boarding school who was like OBSESSED with BoA. Hehe, she would always play her songs. I thought some of her songs were pretty good, although I don't remember the names or anything, and I havn't heard them in years. :blush:

I have been meaning to check her out for awhile now. Recently got an issue of Beat Freak that she was featured in. I think she's really pretty and intelligent, as for her music...I haven't heard it yet so I can't say. I'm planning to listen to some of her stuff today actually. Will report back with musical verdict.

I really like BoA, her dance are really good. In the DVD set, "BoA - History of BoA 2000-2002", there's lots of interview about her life , the three years spent on pratice dancing, features such as footage on making of her music in US and in England.

She's only in early 20s and I think she has lots of potential, I likes all of her songs and they are all really good.

aaah BoA. Love this singer!! Even though she isn't Japanese I still really like her. The music she produces isn't groundbreaking but I don't find a certain element of freshness to what she produces

I just started listening to J-Pop Fall '06. I heard she's pretty good and bi-fluent, which is pretty amazing.

I love her Korean songs a little more than her japanese... mostly cause my freiend has a horrible obsession with her, and forces me to listen to her korean. i owned best of soul, till i gave it to that friend i just mantioned as a gift.

i love her voice for some odd reason. :relief: its easy to tell that its BoA on the radio, cause alot of japanese singers sound the same... and BoA's a great dancer. i love watching her videos

Her single releases in 2006 weren't really intresting to me, but Sweet Impact is so cool... :lol: I hope she releases more singles that are like the old BoA I don't like the whole 2005 change, but Sweet Impact reminds me of BoA like she was ^^ and her hair is so cool :-)

i'm HUGE fan of BoA- besides the fact that she's a great singer, she can speak english (with funny accent), korean, japanese, and chinese (with funny accent)- she's ALSO a great dancer! talk about being multi-talented. i just wish that she didn't get so much plastic surgery, a bellybutton ring, and all that other superficialness...

I remember that I first saw BoA on a Sketchers commercial in my secondary school years, or junior high. I didn't know who she was at that time but I do remember my best friend gave to me BoA's Listen To My Heart album and I was totally hooked. I remember my favorite songs were Listen To My Heart, Every Heart, Kimochi Wa Tsutawaru, Dreams Come True, Amazing Kiss, ID= Peace, Nobody But You.

I became an official fan when I saw her dance on her Listen To My Heart video or was it Midnight Parade... I forgot; but the girl got some moves on her!

I have been buy her albums since then, even though I don't have her Outgrow or Made In 20 albums yet... I am content with what I have.

I love BoA as a very talented and quadlingual artist. But my current favorite song is EVERYTHING NEEDS LOVE... eventhough the song belongs to MONDO GROSSO. It is a shame that she doesn't get the attention she deserves.

I was just wondering if anyone is planning on getting her her newest album The Face that being released the 27th of this month? I am tempted to try and go and get it just not sure if I actually have the money for it if I did get it I would need to wait probably a lil to get enough money for the thing. :-) it would be my first album of hers I haven't heard much of her stuff but she seems like a really cool artist whom I could get into.

Well I really want to hear her current stuff and see if its too my liking or not...but I will certainly look into getting the Love&Honesty/Valenti ablums as well if I don't end up like the face I can always try selling on ebay to some that value it more.

Kwon Boa is her real name, her artist name is BoA ^^ You could check some of her music videos on dailymotion or so ^^; and if you like her, support her by buying her cds ^^
