does the following notice appear at the top of the page if you do not post often?

Hello <insert username>, it appears that you have not posted on the Japan Forum in several weeks.

While I have an interest in Japan, I don't spend all of my time on the internet viewing sites and forums (such as this one) researching Japan.

I feel that the notice is intrusive, and pressures posters into making topics or replies because they feel obliged to do so, whether they are informative and thoughtful or not.

it wouldn't take long for the site to get down right boring if everyone just dropped by to read. There are a ton of topics discussed here, or you can start your own thread under chit-chat or many other topics. You were nice enough to take time to register, maybe on a slow weekend you could join in on a thread that interests you. Most groups we join now days require something of us; the Forum here is a great place because of all the members from around the world putting there 2 cents in. We have several members who have belonged for years and have never posted, and that's OK too. I think several members requested admin to put that notice in to help keep things flowing and changing. ALSO, if you don't like posting, the chat room is a great place to spend time and make some new friends. Yon can always think of the "notice" as just another ad or pop-up and ignore it.
PS-You have been a great contributor to the Forum and started a lot of good threads!

It didn't bother me when that thing began to appear, I just ignored it.
I guess it's just to encourage people to post, not to put pressure on people. :souka:
It's better to make some interesting/valuable posts, than post a lot of rubbish. :-) (like wot i do :bluush: )

I dont see the problem, just a little reminder, not really holding you down to your keyboard with a gun to the back of your neck telling you to post or die.
try not to let it bother you to much, its just something thats there.
