Konbanwa:
I just posted this on the Yougasa House blog (http://yougasa.wordpress.com/), but it belongs here, too:
Some saddening news from the realm of Japanese cinema: Shohei Imamura \ the director of Narayamabushiko (The Ballad of Narayama), Unagi (The Eel) (which won the Palme d'Or at Cannes in 1997), and my favorite of his films, Akai hashi no shita no nurui mizu (Warm Water under a Red Bridge) \ died on Tuesday in Tokyo; he was 79 years old.
Asahi Shimbun has a short item that goes a little further; read it while you still can:

Imamura-sensei made many films during his lifetime, in addition to the above. Which of them, if any, is among your all-time favorites?
