I don't think i've seen any besides Ichi the Killer (if that even counts) but I didn't like it at all. I've seen alot of Triad movies. What would you say are good yakuza ones?

I'm assuming that you yourself can not compile a list of ten Yakuza movies and that this thread is a thinly veiled attempt to do just that?

Anyways... try Sonatine, Hana bi, Dead or Alive 1-3, Gozu, Jingi naki tatakai (Battle without Honor), Tokyo Drifter, Brother, Violent Cop, Kawaita hana (Pale Flower), if you are interested in more:

...some of those movies only have a Yakuza undercurrent to them. I'd like to say that the Yakuza are much more popular in both movies, and western minds, than they are in Japan... where they are generally regarded as the criminal scum which they are.

No matter how you look at it, Yakuza are a part of Japanese history good or bad. . No sh*t they're regarded highly in western minds. A western culture that loves violence. You need to get off your F'in high horse.
The tone in your message is insulting. I am more than happy to continue this discussion....

No matter how you look at it, Yakuza are a part of Japanese history good or bad.I didn't say they weren't part of Japanese history, I said that they aren't looked upon with any sense of fondness by Japanese.

No sh*t they're regarded highly in western minds. A western culture that loves violence. And by this you're infering that despite all contrary implications in popular culture & film that Japanese culture doesn't like violence in entertainment?

You need to get off your F'in high horse. It was you that didn't even contribute to your own thread, while at the same time condecendingly asking people not to be shy... what's that about?

Why not at least contribute to your own thread?
