Lately, I've seen on discussions on lot of forums that claim Japanese women almost obsess over white men, even the ones that are less than average looking in Europe. Statements include "jap chicks go wild for whitey", etc.

I'm just wondering, is that true to any extent or just another myth about Japan gone way out of proportion?

Some Japanese women will only date or want to marry foreign men, some are interested in them just because they are different, and a vast majority just don't care. Remember as a foreigner most of the people you meet and socialise with are people who want to be with you, so don't go getting a big head about it.

In the American television sitcom Full House season #6 epsiode 123 the charecter "Uncle Jesse" and his band "Jesse and the rippers" are performing at empty venues in California, nobody is going to their shows right? But then they fly out to play in Japan and he, Uncle Jesse, becomes an celebrity over night. He went from nobody at all going to his show to sold out concerts. And you are probably thinking, Ok, that's a television show, your point is? My point is the writers of that show had that in the heads to plot. They didn't have Uncle Jesse become an overnight sensation in Europe or Canada or anywhere they (the writers,) knew about Japan.
And it's not just the writers of Full House. Everyday over 500 Americans fly to Japan and I can guarantee that they aren't all going over there for business.
Heaven exists just like you and me. People associate Heaven with the sky and you have to eventually land, right? Japan is Heaven.

Yes, that basically is true. The reason is because Japan isn't a very multi-cultural society, the difference between visiting Western males and Japanese males is shocking to them. Western males usually walk taller (no pun intended), and act a lot more confidence, because, generally, Japanese culture dictates that confidence is bad and over-cocky.

Basically, they find this difference attractive. Becuase in Europe and North America, we're so used to living in multi-cultural societies that vast differences don't really phase us.

As Ewok indicated, there are women who set their sights exclusively on foreign men. Some want white men; some want black men. Some don't care, so long as they're foreign.

While this may sound like quite a good thing for foreign guys who obsess over Japanese women, I would steer clear of those women.

A Japanese woman who will date/marry a foreign guy even though he's a foreigner.....fine.

I'm so God's gift to Japanese women, read the old testament, it was set out like that for me to later find when the time was right so that I could change the world.

Jokes aside the grass is not greener on the other side of the fence. "Those" forums are making huge claims and sterotypical mistakes about all the Japanese women in Japan. I know more Japanese women that would never want to marry or date a "gaijin" than the ones that do.

Sure there are probably some girls and women that may be obssesed, I dont know other than what a TV program or "someone" tells me, but it isn't just about white, they are many, many Japanese females that find black attractive more than white...so those message boards are pretty screwed up I would say.

That's true those kind of women exist here. For them, having a foreign(especially white, any white, or AMERICAN black) bf is just like having a designer's brand bag. They are just scoring those foreign men(mostly one-nighters, or vacation bf's) and show off them, cuz they think it's cool to have a Westerner as a bf. For them, any white or American black guys = movie stars or rock stars, and only the skin color or the nationality counts.

At the same time, there are stupid foreign guys who know the existence of those stupid Japanese women and they know where they can pick them up and enjoy sex with them, of course, they score the number of those stupid women and brag about it too. What a good balance of supply and demand!
However, NOT all of us Japanese are like them. They are just some percentages of the whole Japanese women and the NORMAL Japanese male/female look down upon and laugh at them.

Personally, I don't care what those people do, after all, that's their lives, not mine. But... There are also Japanese women who have a bf who just happens to be non-Japanese. They meet someone, and find him nice and fall in love with him, and he just happens to be non-Japanese. I don't want them to be thought one of those gaijin-chasers, cus they ARE different.

hanks to the rumore of those gaijin chasers and gaijin sex animals(who are never able to get a gf in their home country), those real lovers sometimes have a hard time in getting married, because their Japanese parents sometimes feel very worried like their relatives, neighbours, or friends might suspect their daughter could be one of those notorious women. They also feel worried like maybe the foreign bf of their daughter is only toying her.

We have some Phillipino trainees at work but not really anyone is interested in them in such a way, probably because they are Asian, dark skinned, and short. We sure have been getting along with them fine, but now I wonder
how they would be treated by us female workers if they were white. I don't really think any of the girls would try to get them like Roppongi gals (or whatever they are called) do, but some of us would at least feel like asking for their autographs, yeah, it's weird. The reason is , just like TheKillerMonkey san pointed out, that Japan isn't a very multi-cultural society and the difference between Western males and Japanese males is somehow attractive for us.

I once saw a white guy bragging in an audio/video chat room that he was coming to Japan, and was expecting that his tallness and blond hair would attract all the Japanese gals and that he would be treated like a star.
However, he really was fat and had a thin and greasy blond hair, a total LOSER type guy in a sweaty and wrinkled T-shirt, and was sitting in a messy room (he was using a web cam and I could even see how messy (and must be stinky) his room was), and we could all guess he hadn't taken a shower for some time, yuuck!

We, at first, wondered how on earth such a dorky guy could think he would be treated like a star in Japan, but later on, suddenly remembered those stupid Japanese girls. He probably heard of the exaggerated rumore of the Japanese gaijin chasers and has got a fantasy of becoming popular among all the Japanese women. sigh...

Lastly, I would like to make sure one thing.
Just like I said not all the Japanese women are like them gaijin chasers, not all the foreign guys who have a Japanese girlfriend or a wife are the ones I just mentioned above.

Even now that you have all these people, look, a Japanese guy telling you how it is, a Japanese girl who writes english better than me telling you how it is, some people with flags under their screen names that I don't even know what country they represent etc.etc. YOU SHOULD NOT LISTEN TO THEM!

All these people who have posted so far's posts are worth nothing compared to going to Tokyo and seeing for yourself how "bad" it is really getting.

I have a website where I catalog life and I've recently started a section called Japarazzi where I get really drunk and start running up to the foreigner/Japanese couples to shoot flash photographs in their faces if I can catch them. Well the reason I bring this up is because I was over in Tokyo like two months ago or whenever for six days to film some stuff for my website and I was a pretty busy bee but I wanted to start the Japarazzi thing so I went to harajuku one of the six days for like an hour and I easily got over 20 Japarazzi (flash photos of Japanese girl / foreigner relationships,) but I decided on only posting several which were my favorite.


Now when I first went to Japan in 2001 it was me and (it seemed) the only other foreigners were there on business, but people are learning about this whole deal where ALL Japanese girls worship white Americans and so as a result kids these days are buying plane tickets just to fly over for like a weekend or two and having their wildest dreams come true. What this is causing is people coming back home, spreading the word and causing even more foreigners to go to Japan because ALL Japanese girls worship white Americans. And I have fans of me that are black that I've met and spent time around and I don't know if it's just my good looks or the fact that my clothes aren't un-boxed from the manufacturer until the day before I leave for Japan (as fresh as possible,) or the fact that I wear Gucci rush girl's perfume but I get way more sort of "LOOK AT HIM!" , "OH HE IS SOOOOOOOOO MINE" "NO HE IS MINE!" "I WANT HIM" from the Japanese girls than they (my black fans do,)


Also listening to Japanese people tell you how Japan is is like a waste of time. It's like people asking me about Sizzler's in Japan, Sizzler's buffet in America is a thousand times better but I talk Sizzler's in Japan up to be a better dinning experience. Side note: If you go to Sizzler's in Sakuragi-cho there is this girl that works during the dinner rush named Brenda who speaks fluent english/Japanese and I really suggest you go there and make fun of her for being able to speak both languages fluently and working at a Sizzler's with all that potential. Anywyas, finishing up with the Japanese people and how you shouldn't listen to them, I befriended this skateboarder in my city named Shogo and one day during skating together I bragged that I had been with this really fine, like the finest kogal to ever come to America right? And all Shogo would talk about is white girls and how he wants to hook up with white girls right? Well then a week after I told him one of my other friends and I were skating by this 7 11 and there Shogo was with my ex kogal! Moral of the story, nobody likes white girls and ALL JAPANESE GIRLS love white guys. (drum drum)

So basically people who have no lives and are unable to even pickup in their homecountry (America) never mind form a stable relationship, are coming over to Japan to party with the gaijin-groupies and have a little nookie? While you can do what you want with your own life, you are mistaking "ALL" Japanese females with "those who want to get down with foreigners", which isn't all Japanese women by a long shot. Its already apparent that some of the memebers here know women who don't want anything to do with foreigners, so already ALL has become MANY. Then from the people I know from several High Schools and Universities (Waseda, Sofia, Tokyo Womens Med., and a few more) probably about 1 in 10 at most are really interested in gaijin, and the rest really don't care any more about gaijin over Japanese guys.
I think Kyoko (female by the way, not a guy) said it pretty well. There are women who want nothing more than to get a gaijin so they can brag to their friends, little more meaning than a brandname bag. At the same time the ego of the gaijin increases exponentially and they make themselves out to be Charisma Man! Loved by all women Japan-wide.

I totally disagree. If a guy is after a relationship, and realizes he's being used, it can really bust you up inside. I've been there once, and narrowly avoided the trap twice.

I've also read European men label these Japanese girls as " YELLOW CABS ".Of all Oriental female species,only Japanese girls are notoriously popular ( superficially or otherwise ) among whitemen or other foreign men,for I've seen many threads dedicated to " Japanese women blah blah blah " compare to very few to none for other Asian counterparts.

There is some truth to it,but it's blown out of proportion.:relief:

I don't get what the big deal is. There will always be some Japanese women who will be interested in dating foreigners more. The same goes for men; there are those who are nuts over foreign, white women. I personally know a native Japanese guy who flew to the States for the first time, just to pick up some white blonde back to Japan. She now lives with him in Japan.

It's odd to assume that the stated stereotype is true just because a minority enforces it. Some posters here are living in their own fantasies that fit with their inflated egos, just because they happen to seek such women in cliques. Little is also said about the quality of such relationships and such people.

It's a fact that most people would naturally like to seek their own race when it comes to relationships, because of everyday familiarity and cultural compatibility.
