You want translations for all of those? The most important ones are ひらがな (Hiragana, means regular input as far as I can tell), and 直接入力, direct input, which essentially turns the IME off.

turns out that mine is in English after all, so I didn't need to bother trying to translate them. Odd that yours would be in Japanese, must be some setting.

It seems that the language of the IME is the language of the OS. Are you using Japanese Windows?

I'm using Windows XP Home Edition ENGLISH.
Here are some settings, don't know if anything is wrong though.

Try checking the properties dialog on the language bar itself. Under the general tab there should be a setting at the bottom for "display menus and dialogs in:" with a drop-down menu. I can't seem to change mine from the auto setting, but that seems to be the option you're looking for. Good luck.

Do you mean on the Language Bar in that picture?
There is nothing about displaying in another langauge, maybe I have an old version and I should download whats on Microsofts site.

if you click on that downward-pointing triangle it should open a drop-down menu. The seventh from the top option should be "properties," and when you check that, a new icon should show up in the language bar. Clicking on that will bring up the properties menu, from where you should be able to make those changes.

It's in the Regional and Language Options. The ones you posted. Advanced tab. Language for non-Unicode Programs should be set to English, not Japanese. I believe that will solve your problem.
