In Evergreen videoclip, Hyde is in the cage of a big bird: is he a big bird in a gold cage? I don't know. But the very interesting thing, is in the end of the song, when the camera zoom-out in the hall, there is down the stair a dead man! Who was he? Perhaps Hyde is the angel spirit of a dead man... very sad.:angel:

From what Hyde has said about Evergreen, he said he had a friend whose wife had passed away, so he wrote the song as if someone he loved had died.... You know, like putting yourself in someone elses place. He's never really discussed the video concept [or at least I don't think so]

But if you listen to the lyrics... I think you might be right. I think it's a sort of I can't live without you thing. Which would mean that man had taken his life. Of which would explain the whole ghost-like image Hyde is presenting in Evergreen.

Yes, Evergreen is currently my favorite Hyde song as well (this isn't counting any of his work with L'Arc~en~Ciel though)...I'm even listening to it right now! I like both versions, they're both very calming, although the English one might be considered by some to be a bit on the boring side...it's a bit more draggy and lacks the extra strings and woodwind instruments in the background...the saxophones in the Japanese version are just so nice...and of course Hyde's voice is absolutely wonderful too! :cool:

His actual name is Hideto, but his nickname is Hyde, but it is pronounced in Japanese "Haido". Japanese call him this way, and of course Hyde himself pronounces it this way too, I have heard it from his own mouth.

maybe you are confused with "Hide" who was from another band. I think "X-Japan" but please correct me if I'm wrong about the name of band.

Actually Hyde's name use to be Hide [way back before indes and everything], BUT people were getting him and X Japan's Hide confused, so he changed it to Hyde with a 'y'. As for pronunciation, Hyde is pronounced 'Haido', but not because of Japanese pronunciation, but so people would not get him and X Japan's Hide confused during chats/interviews/music shows/gossip talk/etc.

Every once and awhile though, I hear announcers saying Hyde [hide] and not haido [EX: MOON CHILD]... probably has to do with X Japan's Hide being deceased, so now there is no confussion.

Okay, so I am super amped for Hyde's new album to come out (anyone know what the title is?). Both Roentgen and 666 are good albums but for me 666 beats the other (by a hair only though).

I think he's an extremely talented composer. I adored Glamorous Sky and Endless Story as well.

My favourite song would be Evergreen but only because it was the first solo Hyde song I heard and it left a lasting impression.

Yeah, I've heard either every or almost every song off of Roentgen and all but two songs off of 666. I think it's hard to compair the two albums because they are so different from each other. But I think if I had to pick my favorite would be 666 as well and simply because "Words of Love" has been forever in the back of my mind since the day I first heard it.

I've been listening to Season's Call and it's another good song. It still hasn't beaten Evergreen though! Hyde definately knows how to write an opening. I'd rate it a 7.5/10 because it's a good solid song but it doesn't especially stand out for me like some of his other songs.

I'd like to hear him sing some harder songs like Words Of Love or at least something like Glamorous Sky.... Most of his songs seem to be slow semi-ballads.

I love "Season's Call" personally. It makes me cry quite often. His voice is just flooring on that song, he's singing full voice but not in the "Rock" way. It's more like a Amy Lee of Evanescence or Idina Menzel type full voice and it is utterly amazing. It's a song that always makes me realize just how high above a lot of artists Hyde is. He's just been doing this for so long that it's unavoidable. He is amazing.

I'm looking forward to his next album, judging from his singles Countdown and Season's Call. 666 was an average album, so I had doubts about another rock-based album. I didn't even like the singles that were the precursor to 666. Hello was too bouncy-pop-rock for my tastes and Horizon just wasn't compositionally interesting for me. Some of the songs in 666 were a bit too stagnant for my taste. And a lot of the melodies were too uninteresting or contrived (ie not very innovative or unique) and so got old fast. Not a bad album, but not the best. I've noticed a lot of artists have the "sophomore slump" though, so it's not a big deal.

The recent singles were good, though. I particularly enjoyed the post-chorus of Season's Call, for some odd reason. And while I didn't really like the trailer for Stealth, much less bother to watch it, I thought Countdown was nice enough.

And thank God he didn't punkify his Roentgen songs a la L'arc en Ciel! I was afraid of what would happen when I saw the tracklists, but the [dist] versions were much better than I expected, though probably not as good as the original. Then again, just about anything from Roentgen would be hard to top, compositionally.

Yeah, I much prefer the Japanese version to the English. The change in chorus lines with a climatic English line at the end vs. the same English lyrics repeated in the chorus (reducing the climax at the end)? Japanese, please!

During the first third of a live concert hyde sounds like he does on the records. Totally amazing. He gets worn down a bit from the middle onwards but after the band takes their little mid song breaks he recovers a bit and he seems to always to be able to pull himself together for the last two songs to give the concerts one hellava conclusion.

I understand how you feel Kevin, I too have tried to sing L'Arc and HYDE songs at karaoke and :bluush: Just makes me worship the man even more.

My thoughts:

hyde's English is definitely improving. (English lyrics are pretty damn coherent, too. Definitely would recommend reading them; listening to the album becomes a whole different experience once you've connected yourself to the message. hyde needs to publish a book of poetry, for real.)

Makes a good "live" album.

1 - JESUS CHRIST
This is one of my favorite songs off the album. Dark, ominous and tinged with a sort of hopeless desperation; a subtle rebelliousness in the face of defeat. hyde's falsetto really stands out, here.

2 - COUNTDOWN (I'll skip this one since you've probably already heard it)

3 - MADE IN HEAVEN
Not too impressed with this track. Hardrock and western-y. Lots of growling. hyde's a good growler, and if you're female it might stimulate a certain region below the waist, but I prefer it when he sings.

4 - I CAN FEEL
Another good track. I like the guitar work and synths; they set up the song's atmosphere well. Song itself is slow and sensuous. I like the last part where hyde goes "wohhh! woh~ohh! wohhh~oh~oh~", especially. Probably sounds better when you hear it...

5 - SEASON'S CALL (well, you've probably heard this, too, so...skip!)

6 - FAITH
I like the vocals on this track; more of hyde's trademark falsetto and his hitting-of-high-notes shine through. Nice guitar work. It's passionate; if you allow yourself, hyde's voice and the music can carry you away....

7 - DOLLY
Hardrock. Angry and righteous. I can see everyone headbanging to this one.

8 - PERFECT MOMENT
A drastic change from DOLLY. This is my favorite track. Melancholic and quiet; like embracing a dark fate so that some day "the sun [can be] born of night". I think my eyes watered, but that could have been my allergies.

9 - MISSION
This is a fun track and encourages the bobbing of heads and the swaying of hips. There's an acoustic guitar. The chorus also has a nice reaching-above-the-bedlam vibe to it.

10 - IT'S SAD
Chaotic, but melodic. Ends the album on a climax and leaves you wanting more...

Maybe it's because I heard a radio version of Made in Heaven before hearing the whole album but that track left a pretty good impression on me. My favourite's probably MISSION because it's so catchy.

I catch myself grinning to that song sometimes and I think the people around me on the bus probably think I'm a retard by now. :p

He's staying in Laruku. In fact they're already made plans on getting together to record again so we can hope for something early next year. Keep your fingers crossed!

hyde had also declared publically that "L'Arc~en~Ciel WILL.NEVER.BREAK.UP" I'm sure that includes him not leaving right?

As for tetsu starting Creature Creature and abandoning L'Arc... I hope not. But I must say, although I've only heard one Creature Creature song so far it's soooooo beautiful! Morrie has a deeper voice than hyde and it works so well with the sound of Creature Creature. I shouldnt' judge too much from just one songs but I think they're much less pop than L'Arc.

I might grow to like them just as much or probably more than HYDE. =P

i was really much impressed by his performance and his vocals he has even more improved since his last live....!! aaand OMG every time he suddenly started screaming (and that happend A LOT) i just fell from my chair and stared at the screen and was DYING from surprise and....nosebleed xDD
it's just because i wasn't used to that much despair and power in his voice although i always knew what a unique and wonderful voice he has....
i liked especially how he performed Midnight Celebration and Prayer.... last one was even sooo sad and wonderful that i wanted to cry...:(
and then well.....maybe it also should be mentioned that...(you've certainly seen a few pix of that) he looks SO HOT with the chest naked xD~~~~ *drools*
in the very end of the dvd i couldn't say anything anymore...xDD i was gobsmacked at all....my friend indeed worried about my health because i was so...so.....speechless....and that is a thing that normally DOES NOT happen to me xDD
so when you have the possibility to see this one....DO IT!!!!!!!!!!!

I also like his latest album very much. It tells us his opinion in many important issues such as religion or death penalty... it has deep sense i believe :bluush: It's hard for me to decide but I think I like Countdown and Dolly most...

however, i like his previous two albums too! the songs from "Roentgen" are so beautiful and his voice is soft and calm unlike in "Faith", were he shows all his power...

"666" was maybe a transition period from the first one to the third one^^ but there are also pretty good songs on it. I like "Prayer" most on it... I think it could be on "Faith" as well because of its lyrics and the way it sounds...

@mico: I thought the official dvd release were only Roentgen Stories and Faith LIve. I dont think he ever released 666 boudokan. It was just the tv-aired concert thing.

@semi~sweet: You can get Roentgen from yesasia.com with only 23$ with s&h free. It's really worth to buy. Faith Live is a bit more expensive but it's really worth the money.
