Is J-ref forums still basically piggy-backing off of Eupedia general discussion forums, or is there future plans to have our own?.
I dont think we need (or would want) GD in the seriousness and size of Eupedia's, merely somewhere for Japan off-topic discussion, and maybe links to outside interesting stuff or latest news of interest.

Edit: After looking again I see Chit chat & miscellanious covers that, perhaps a rename to Jref General Discussion?.
I apologise if I'm being too pokey in forum affairs, my intentions are purely harmless suggestion. :relief:

Yeah, I was going to ask, "What is Chit Chat & Miscellaneous for, then?"... :p

Nurizeko, you were among those who pushed for the two forums to be separated so that JREF be only about Japan. Let me refresh your memory (http://www.jref.com/forum/showpost.php?p=335255&postcount=25).

If you want to post something that is not Japan-related, do it in the Chit-chat section.

Thanks for the reminder Mac, After I relised Chit-chat was for that I changed my suggestion to changing Chit chat to Jref General Discussion and maybe just a little re-organization.

As you will notice were still piggybacking off of your forums GD, which doesnt entirely embrace this seperation.

There seems to have been a problem with the database.
Please try again by clicking the Refresh (http://www.eupedia.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=171#) button in your web browser.
An E-Mail has been dispatched to our Technical Staff (japanreference@gmail.com), whom you can also contact if the problem persists.
We apologise for any inconvenience.

FYI. When I hit the General Discussion this error message showed up.

sorry I couldn't regenerate the problem. It seems that the general section is still tied with Eupedia. I can not open Eupedia or General chat from my work pc (blocked).

From home though I was getting the database error. I will check it again when I go home.

Is there a specific reason the general discussion forum sends one over to Europedia?

On a related note since there is no general discussion here;

I had a thread removed by someone here in the past 24 hrs or so, I put the thread in the community section because there was no other forum available for the subject matter and I am not a member of Europedia.

Lastly I would appreciate it if someone is going to remove an entire thread because it may have been in the wrong forum, at least leave a tag saying the thread was moved or deleted. This is annoying as hell.:mad:

Edited to add the following information I found on this thread;

Maciamo wrote;

Question here now; if that is the case then I ask that instead of removing the entire thread why not move it there instead. I was unaware I was posting it the wrong forum.

Lastly since this is policy can I re-post the thread in the Chit-Chat Section?

Edited to add that following Maciamo's advice in the quote above I resposted the thread under Chit-chat. Thank you.:wave:

I have no idea who deleted the thread with the accompanying posts, so these questions and the comments as well are directed towards no individual person in particular. I would just appreciate a honest answer.

Yes, that is the reason for the error message. The Eupedia section was down also at the same time.

Question....why is there even a link to General discussion?? Shouldn't you just click the Eupedia link instead? Seems redundant.

If you read the last post in your newest europe related thread it specifically informed you it belongs in Eupedia, Hatch.
Sorry if its an inconvenience but the forum was split for many reasons and the leadershp agree Europe related discussion, especially in the seriousness and heatedness of your most recent one really belongs there.
Jref is first and formost a place for generally good mannered Japan related discussion.
It doesnt take too much effort to make an account there unless you were blocked for whatever reason.
Anyway soz if this is an inconvenience, not a mod, merely trying to shed some light as to way the thread was closed up. :relief:

I agree, but for whatver reason it seems to have been over-looked and for the meantime remained un-attended to.

I'm sorry I disagree, why is expected that people "should" join another forum that they have no interest in? I didn''t join Europedia, I joined JRef. If people dont like that then, that is THEIR problem not mine.

Why do people that post on Jref need to be concerned about joining Europedia?

Your assumption is wrong.

If you want to post European matters you are on the wrong forum. IT'S SIMPLE AS THAT !

You should have found someone who had been banned from Eupedia to post it in your absense. :p Yeah, of course this is first and foremost a place for Japanese-related topics -- obviously that is in no way going to be compromised by a single stray bullet, it's just that the number of participants at the other forum is very, very small...

By the way, just out of curiousity, do you two know each other well ? I wasn't that interested in the thread but would be as annoyed as hell if someone started patronizing me with a cuter, shortened version of my name....:p :bluush:

You mean like Bethy? :giggle: sorry, just kidding :)
Anyways, Hachiro has been banned after causing problems, AGAIN.

I dunno, some folk seem to be really annoyed by getting a shortened name.

Others couldnt care less.

I figure it helps all round the friendly atmosphere of the forum anyway. :cool:

And if Hachiro is even his real name I'de be suprised, net handles dont get immunity from my "bad habit" hehe. :blush:
