Allow people to visit guests in their room generally?
Or is it hotel dependent?

It probably depends upon each hotel. I've had no problem with having visitors.

neither have I. The only one I stayed at and didn't take guests into was a capsule hotel, which I doubt would allow it anyways.

If they did, it would definitely be a tight fit.

it was a pretty tight fit even for me! When people ask me what they're like, I tell them to envision a coffin with a tv.

I think having guest in the room is in most hotels okay, but until a certain time.
I am not sure about this, but just in my experience in other countries I think Japan is the same
