blue sky is right, it is pronounced 青空/あおぞら/aozora. (just how it is spelled, as long as you know the Japanese phonemes.

I would say "ah-oh-zoh-rah," if I had to try to spell out the phonemes without using IPA. The "r" in Japanese is different from English; it sounds almost like a "d," but the two are definitely distinct phonemes.

d?? I think you mean "la" Ah-Oh-ZOh-LAh. It doesn't sound anything like a "d" to me :souka:

Here's a song from Takahashi Hitomi called "aozora no namida", you can hear how she pronounces aozora :)

that sounds like an "l" to you? hmm, I know that Japanese people have trouble distinguishing betweening l and r, but the two are very distinct to me. When I explain the way I make an r in Japanese, it's like bouncing my tongue off the roof of my mouth; like rolling an rr in Spanish, but without repeating the sound. To most of the American students I study with, it seems much closer to a d than an l.

Must be a difference in mother tongue? :)
