トレハロース!?(Toreharoosu)

It's some kind of powder, and my mom bought it for me a while ago.. "Mix it with your rice when you cook and it will taste better".. I didn't believe it at first, but, polite as I am, I couldn't refuse.

Anyways, it does make your rice taste better!! Just a few teaspoons of it in your pan (or rice-cooker for those youngsters and oldsters who cannot cook rice without an automatic rice cooker.. Amateurs!!), and it will make your rice taste fresher!! Amazing stuff..

Here's a site (http://www.h3.dion.ne.jp/~grandsan/hb-science/t-toreha.htm) which explains how it works. And NO, I don't have shares in that company, nor am I related in any way to it.:p

I put gravy on my rice (like on potatos) to make it taste better.

Gravy.. Rice.. Intersting!! :D

In Holland, some people eat rice, covered with butter, then sprinkled with sugar! I thought it was a 2nd WW-thing, and not many people eat it though. (Actually, I only know one person who eats it!!)

I guess one tsp of honey works in the similar way as the substance and is more accessible.

I wish we could have a rice-cooker at home. Though, we don't have rice that often really. Only the old same potatos.. :souka:

I prefer to cook rice with a ordinary pan.. I was shocked by the fact that the majority of the Japanese people (at least the people I know) don't know how to cook rice without a rice cooker!!:relief:
