Dear all,
We will be travelling out of tokyo on a 7day rail pass and we will be staying in Nara for all 7 days while we're in the kansai(?) region!
This will occur mid December.
I would like to ask you guys for possible stopovers along the way, or places to go and see around and about kyoto/osaka/nara/kobe! :p
Thank you all hehe

7 days in Kansai? I would reccomend a couple of days in Nara, one to see the sites around Nara Park and another to see the temples in the outskirts of town.
At least two days in Kyoto as well. Tons of stuff to see there, too much to list really.
A day in Osaka should be enough, just to see some of the interesting districts downtown.
For another day trip you might want to head over to Himeji in the morning to see the castle and then stop in Kobe to go shopping/have dinner on the way back.
Another good day trip is Koya-san in nearby Wakayama prefecture. Its a mountain-top buddhist sanctuary that is very picturesque and has quite a few temples to visit or stay overnight at.
With the JR Pass in your hand, it is a good chance to explore more places since it allows you to unlimited ride on all JR vehicle and even on Shinkansen.
Just like senseiman had said, go to Kyoto, Kobe, Himeji............etc.

Don't forget Kobe? Or... maybe it's okay to skip Kobe. It's a little too "city" to be intersting.
Agreed though, you don't need 7 days for Nara only! Get to Kyoto as well!
In Osaka do Namba, Shinasaibashi and Shinesekai!
