I don't know much about him... Just that he was the singer in Buck-tick and that kyo from dir en grey admires him. :relief:
But here is some info i found:
Atsushi Sakurai (櫻井敦司, Sakurai Atsushi), vocalist for the Japanese rock band Buck-Tick since 1985. Born in Fujioka, Gunma Prefecture. He also was a member of Schwein with Hisashi Imai, Sascha Konietzko (KMFDM) and Raymond Watts (also known as PIG). In 2004, Atsushi Sakurai released his first solo album, 愛の惑星 (Planet of Love), which featured tracks written by musicians such as Wayne Hussey of The Sisters of Mercy and the Mission UK, Jim Thirwell (foetus), CUBE JUICE, My Way My Love, Ray Watts, Cloudchair (Jake of Guniw Tools), Masami Tsuchiya, and the remake of a 1992 collaboration with Clan of Xymox. 2004 also saw his acting debut, performing the starring role in Ryuhei Kitamura's short film Longinus. He released a book of his poetry and lyrics called 夜想(Nocturne) in 2004.
Born: March 7th 1966.

Status: married in 1991 to Buck-Tick stylist Sayuri Watanabe, divorced; remarried in June 2004.

I only like a few songs.. I need to listen to more of their music though! A lot of the Buck-tick songs just didn't suit his voice I think.. Songs like 'taiji' more..

I don't know much about him personally but I agree with Python, he has a great voice and he is so COOOOOL!!!!!!!! The way he moves and acts on stage is incredible, he really knows how to work the crowd.

I LOVE THIS MAN!!! His voice is amazing and i sure as hell do not think he is old. It's like they say about fine wines...they only get better with time :)

Im sorry to hear that you don't know anyone who know's who Buck-Tick/Sakurai Atsushi is. I feel your pain literally! :( Have you had the oppurtunity to listen to the new singles "Heaven" and "Galaxy" they are awesome:-) Also, i believe that to date the only TV performance they have given is for "Galaxy". Try looking it up, it's well worth it!
Since there is no one who know's who BT is that meant i had to get the word out to someone. My boyfriend has been the experimental subject who i have subjected to BT and i report success! I do not recommend however showing your bf the video of "Kimi no Vanillia"...he was disturbed but i'm not!:blush:

I knew them from a forum.There was a topic about japanese music and i was curious so i checked their music and it was something like "OMG,their are amazing,the vocalist is so beautiful,i never seen someone like him before" :-)
and i totally agree with you,older is better,i prefer guys who are much older than me :D
Back to Atsushi i know he loves kitties and had 3 ,but i read somewhere that 2 of them died :(

Maybe because almost all the people i know prefer listening to Britney Spears,Jonas Brother and other cheap wanna be artists rather then listen some real music. :( :( ...there are also the people who consider themself as being j-rock fans,but they only listen "The Gazette" ,"An Cafe","Ayabie" or other bands who are too overrated.Because of bands like that,a lot of people do see j-rock as being a musical genre "extremely gay" so they don't ever bother to see if this is true :( it's very irritating :okashii:

I love Acchan, he's the best singer in japan IMO.

I was reading some of the older posts and I beleive I can answer some of your questions.
Acchan is married to a woman, he remarried in 2004:(.
Imai is also married, in 2008
For the record, Hide is married as well, in 2006.
The Higuchi brothers are the only unmarried ones.
Acchan and Imai were never married, in a interview in 1995, they joked that they had gotten married and were on their honeymoon.

Hell, for the longest time, I though that Acchan had cheated on his first wife with Imai!

I have the album for Schwein; It's pretty damn good. I like 'Slip', 'Lard, Lips, Liquor' and 'Porno'. I listen to PIG aka Raymond Watts so that is how I first heard about BT waaaaay back then even before they collaborated on Schwein. Raymond did the song 'Yellow Pig' on Sakurai's solo project. Those two are actually pretty damn good friends! In the interviews I have read (with Raymond) he has nothing but admiration and an interesting 'bromance' thing apparently between them. BTW, i don't like the word 'bromance' but i guess it works here, sorry, lol! Also, have you noticed that Sakurai frequently wears a Pig/hog ring on his middle finger...that ring was given to him by Raymond and Raymond himself has that exact same ring. So yeah they are pretty close which is cool, to me, bc i like them boht :)

About the picture book, it's 160 pages 128 color, 32 black and white. CDJapan says it's out of print but HMV japan still has it.

I was considering getting the Picture book and now I am regretting not having done so :.(
I am, however, going to order the Memento Mori DVD Lmx Ed. I know it costs more but I love seeing them interact backstage; it adds a whole new layer to BT and of course Sakurai! As for Raymond, during Schwein i read (someone posted this so it's a very unrealiable source) that during the concert Raymond and Sakurai kissed. Apparently they were both rather wasted, lmao! True or not, what does seem fact is that those two get along quite well :) I read they meet when BT went to London to record 'Aku no Hana'. As for Sakurai's english i'm sure he know's enough and Raymond most likely knows Japanese as well since his manager (Yoshi -----) is Japanese.
To a-addicted, I think that is the pig ring Sakurai is wearing. Im at work so I can't pull up a 'bigger' picture to get a better look....Sakurai's pic isn't 'PG' enough which is just fine with me! :)

The ring is rather blurry in the pic I am using but if you youtube 'Romance' at 1:15 (and throughout the vid) you can get a good look at the pig ring. He also wears it in "You're My Disease", "Alice in Wonder Underground" (at 1:52 look for a lil snout), "Sacrifice" (at 1:18; he must have changed out rings during takes bc at 1:32 he wears a different ring) and the pig ring citing list goes on :D

Btw, did he really say that he doesn't feel like he has friends when he was younger? I know the other BT members say he is secretive but they also say he is very nice. Maybe he just likes his privacy?
