I have a feeling that Ren got that translation from Masa Karasu. There was another translation I had found a while ago that I still love better... <3 Just the way things are worded, I enjoy it more.
That's why I hate translations really. They all get the same message across, but things like syntax and diction get lost. It's no longer Miyavi's (or any other author's) originality, it's the translator's originality.

See...I made this rule not to intepret Japanese music videos because that causes headaces. KIMINEGA is no different, I got the stars...but the animal heads made me go wtf. Maybe they are there so the song can come off like a story. You know like how children stories uses animals for story interpretion. I dunno...I'm shutting up.

The "adult" entry Miyavi wrote is about the "Coming of Age" ceremony the Japanese have around New Years~ It's weird to think I'm not of age over in Japan ><~
Their legal age in Japan is 20 =\~

The problem w/ emotions in a voice... they can betray the real message~ He could be singing about a yellow balloon flying off into the sky (haha DBSK reference XD;), and be devastated about it~ So he'd sing in devastation, which would convey a different interpretation~ You should always analyze lyrics, no matter how much emotion is put into a song~

I completely forgot to mention the old man in the KIMINEGA video!~ I was wondering if it's suppose to be him like... 70 years from now (KIK!~) and that even in his old age, he'll still be wishing on that star?~

The legal drinking age in Japan is 20~ The legal EVERYTHING over there is 20! XD~

Actually, the language barrier doesn't make a difference for me~ Music is said to be the "Universal language" and I wholeheartedly agree~ You don't need to know the words of the song to understand the emotion~ My point is, the emotion can be different from the message~ Hence analyzing lyrics~
It's all very simple really~

An issue with Miyavi though... His older songs really don't have much "emotion" to them~ Galyuu and Gagaku are just so strange XD;~
I mean seriously now... I would love for you to tell me the meaning to Tariraritarara just by listening to the "emotion" in his voice KIK~

I love itoshii hito! But the downside is that there's the part where he really starts to sing, and he's all moving choppily and it just makes me think of The Ring and other similar creepy movies of dead people... o.o;;~ And yes... it is a bit confusing... I just really want to see a high resolution version of the video so I can take a good look at the baby he's holding. I just don't like that video~ I don't see the reference to the song~ People say he's a "mother" figure in the video and what not... but there's that ONE SHOT AT THE END~ To me it kills the "miscarriage" perpesctive~ I think there's a lot more behind the video than such a simplistic observation~

I first heard of him in that junction between Miyabi and Miyavi back in 2002. I didn't bother looking him up because at the time I was all "ZMOG DIR EN GREY IS THE MOST AWESOMEST THING EVAAAH! @.@"... not that they aren't, but they were all I focused on back then ^^;;;;;~ I think I've said it before, but this (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v82/forever_lost/due_miyabi.jpg) was the first picture of him I saw. It was a side bar at Japanese Channel (http://www.geocities.com/Tokyo/Field/4849/menu.html), I think it's still there too. Anyway, that picture stuck with me because... well look at it, it's awesome. So when I finally looked him up back in August I was like "Is it Miyabi or Miyavi, I've seen both >>;;;;;;;;;;" Since "Miyavi" gave me more search results, I went with that XD!!!~~

There's a download site I go to... I won't post it here cause... yeah, already have an infraction for that... (:okashii: ), but they had Miyavi's Kimi ni Negai wo video for download and I jumped on it, kik~ Then I found the Selfish Love LFX performance on YouTube... and that's when I knew I was sooo very far gone.~

It looked like a normal baby doll.~ You also have to think about how much say Miyavi actually HAS in making the videos. I'm sure most of it goes to the director.~ I don't know much when it comes to idol vs. artist, but that's the biggest tragedy with an idol... their word means nothing. I always assumed an artist would have more say-so, but I don't know HOW MUCH more say-so... If that makes sense.~

Well said, although...As everyone has their own definition of "love" -- it would also be the same for art -- in this case, Miyavi's PVs. It's not that they're defining his videos, per se, just forming their own interpretation of it based on their thoughts, past experiences and what have you.

If you're dumb enough to think that he's just making the video because of some poetic whim in his dainty little heart then you, my dear, are fantastically deluded.

Most "artists" fancy themselves one and do try for a bit of symbolism so it's not exactly just horrible speculation to wonder what's going on. It helps a person appreciate the artist more and connect to them on a deeper level. But hey~! I'm probably just thinking too much and it IS just pretty sounds and images coming from your computer and nothing more on a good substantial level that most competent human beings strive for. :wave:

miyavi is an artist. an artists sole purpose is to make you THINK. that is why hey do what they do. they wish to leave a mark on the world doing what completes them. that is what miayvi is doing in his videos. he is trying to make you think. thats what his songs are about as well. and when you add the two together. its just amazing what he can do. and i am not just saying this as a fan of him, im saying it as a person who loves film more than she loves DBSK which my angels can verify..is a boat load.
see. you can't take miyavi for face value. if we did. we would all think he is some egotistical ***** who just wants attention. and is on massive amounts of drugs and alcohol...at all times.
now, we know this is far from the truth. infact, we also know he cant hold his alcohol. so why on earth would you think a man who you ant take for face value would make anything that you could take for face value?

but then there comes the grey area. people don't like art that they can't define. but who says art needs a defination? nobody. like shrek said. 'LAYERS Donkey!" just like the onion he was talking about, miyavi's work has many layers. theres what it is literally saying, what he means, and what we inerpret it to mean. now, we may not know exactly what he means, but thats the beauty of it. music is what we make it to be. we all love meev for different reasons.

but saying that you shouldnt analyze something is just putting limitations on yourself. there is so much in anything miyavi does. even pop is dead. i kno SHOCK. you thought that was jus a bunch of garbage didnt you? well its not. if you really look at the lyrics you can find a lot of things. like the fact that he says Save me Popeye. now, we all think of our spinach eating hero..whcih makes 0 sence. but what about the eye of the pop industry? the one that is apperently dead. the one that makes you conform to fit in. the one meeve is trying to avoid. yet, he wishes it to save him..but from what? see. this is what i'm talking about. all im trying to say here is stop the hating. just realize that nobody is wrong or write and respect eachother. thats why i havent been around in so long. theres no respect amoung fangirls and i hate it. people have different opinions and views of situations. deal.with.it.
and its art people. its not meant to be right or wrong. its meant to be felt. and thought about.
and i know this is comming from a perso who has made art their life..but i did it for thoes reasns. because it would allow me to think,, to evoke, and to say what i needed to. i think its the same for miyavi. he just wants to get his message out there. but. hat message can be interperted in the details. however, the bigger things tend to be the same. i bet if you asked eacother what it made you feel initially...first thoughts and why..youd find that there is a similar meaning. go with that. becauase thats where the answers lie. in the simplicity. ...sometimes...it just takes a bit to get back to the simple things.

I agree, totally about what was saying before on interpretations, I think same way as you darknoonthirty, I think you said it very well!!! And I can say, with the point of an artist and daughter of a good painter and sculptor, that artist, if they do music, films, paintings or whatever always amke sense and symbols in there art, even if we know that poeple will not feel the same or understand the same about it. Poeple will never know exactly what you wanted to say, but feal emotions and understand things about there life, and think about. i thing it's really a good thing, I'm always very glad when poeple tell me what they understand in my paintings, it's never the same, but for me it's great that it's not, and I'm happy that they feel something! Maybe it could be the same when you do music!
And yes there is a lot of others dimensions, I think that everyone build his own world and understand things about his own vision, and that's great!!!
For me, hitoshii hito make me feeling a bit sad and draming, I love it. I really like Myv because we can undrstand many different things. And you change your visions, now that I've been in Japan, I don't feel the same with Myv, it's better than ever!!!! (sorry if I was a bit annoying )

well, the thing about analyzing videos... the thing that meg/DNT said impressed me a lot and i think shes totally right! its a piece of art and art can be described/felt in 1billion ways but i mean the artist wants you to THINK "hmm what could the message be?" or something like that and the video doesnt always have to do with the songtext but still... video = message = THINK!

me... i think that... well i dont know.. itoshii hito is one of my fav. (as you might have realized xD) songs EVER. i listen to it every night when i go to sleep. and it makes me thing. about love, pain and all that. you dont have to know japanese to understand this song. it just speaks for it self because its such an passionated song. when i first heard it i thought it must be about love and all that..... and when i saw the translation i was like "wow... thats just.... wow" i was speachless because i kinda understood what "happened" in the song without speaking japanese at all. i was so touched by the song because i was in a very... umm... in a bad situation with by boyfriend. i just felt like he doesnt care for me anymore and things like that...and thinking of the words that miyavi said in the song just kind of fitted.

I think my problem with Itoshii Hito, is I read the lyrics after watching the video. The lyrics are blatantly a love story, but I didn't get that at all from listening to it. Do remember, I love the MYV Pops version better. It's the first one I heard, and I love how it actually ends and doesn't just fade. The ending really makes a difference with how I perceive it.
It's so weird, but when I listened to it, I envisioned this little girl. She was lost and alone in this random place, but she was more curious about it than being scared. She realized no one noticed her, and started yelling at people to get their attention. Still nothing. She got desparate and started running, trying to grab at people and walk into them. However, her body would go right through them.
She was stunned, she didn't know what to do, where to go, what to think. Here she was in this strange place... a place she didn't even really exist. It was too overwhelming, so she ran. She ran and ran until her little feet couldn't carry her anymore. Finally away from all the people, she crashed down to the ground, curled up, and cried. The sun was starting to set, and the air was getting cold. Even through the devastation, she felt herself start to relax and drift into a fitful sleep.
A strong yet gentle hand rested on her shoulder, easing her awake. She eagerly took the hand, loving the warmth and content flowing from it. Helping her up, they walked hand in hand towards the gorgeous sunset illuminating the sky.

After listening to the song and seeing that play out behind my eyes, I cried. In many ways I see that little girl as myself... I so badly long for a guardian angel to come and lead me into the sunset... hell even a sunrise XD; Reading the lyrics afterwards and seeing how completely different they were, it just... It hurt.
I guess you could say that the lyrics are from the Guardian Angel's point of view... telling me not to cry, but it stills seems like quite the stretch to get there.

OH WELL.

Mia, I completely understand what you mean. I have issues saying what I'm thinking and feeling as well. I think that's why I use so many metaphors. Somehow it just makes things easier to describe a situation similar to mine as opposed to directly describing mine.

But tbh, I dont know what I expected it to be. I just thought it was a type of battle between himself. Them days you just want to go crazy. Since the big screen is kinda of over looking him in the warehouse, singing this song to him. And he later pour water? onto the image of that in a tv! Along with the 2 miyavi arguing. It just reminded me when your in that state of contridiction with yourself. Kinda alone, sort of thing.
The off set colour of the video, made it seem abit more surreal and abit more dark and gloomy. A darker version of the world we know it. If that makes ANY sense at all LOL

I like how his style changes. That partially inspired Ellusion. I want my band to do all styles of music (though I want that to be understood from the beginning. I think that was the probelm w/ Miyavi, he's a ROCKER, but he's suddenly doing pop... It confused a lot of fans).

Wow, this place really has gone off the deep end. So much for the Miyavi thread ruling the Music Section. I kind of hate letting it die, but oh well.

Miyavi originally only did rock, but started feeling adventurous and looked into different music styles. His latest have mostly been of the pop scheme. I'm sure the new band will be doing rock, I can't see a band doing pop.
Miyavizm, from what I've heard, was his least selling album. I can definately believe that. It is not a favorite of mine. It has some great songs, don't get me wrong, but as an album it lacks significantly. The same beat is almost constantly used through out the entire thing. There's also no rise or fall of emotions. It's all very placid. That fact is surprising, being a product of Miyavi's.
Galyuu is my favorite album of his by far. The variety of feel is incredible, and the emotions played are amazing. I highly recommend this album. The strength behind it is spectacular. MYV POPs is good for a recap of his releases as a Major artist. It's also good for hearing his pop side. If you're a fan of Miyavi's guitar playing, then I advise you take a look at his Miyaviuta album. If you like things more obscure and crazy, go rock out to the Gagaku album.

Each album has their different skills, however. I hope you eventually take a look at them all.

Miyavi venturing into different music styles was a very risky move. He's lost a bit of fans, and respect from spectators because of it. At the same time, it was also very inspiring and he has gained a new set of fans that I believe will follow him through out his career. It wasn't something he felt he needed to do now that he was a major artist and he knew not everyone would stay with him during the change. He still went through it anyway. Yes he wants to please his fans, but making music is what's important to him first off. It might be a little selfish of him, but I respect that fact. It's nice to see an artist unfazed by the media.

Someone mentioned liking him for his rock music, but being addicted to KIMINEGA? I find that terribly amusing. KIMINEGA is one of Miyavi's pop songs. I fear you have a poor outlook on what "pop music" is.

I'm curious though why so many people join a thread stating how they think the artist is cute. I don't see how that'll attract positive attention from the people already posting here.

Tbh, Thats what I like about miyavi. The fact hes experimented with a whole range of different genres and techniques and styles!

Sometimes Im in the mood for a slow song, sometimes for a loud screamy song. Usually, you cant find all them different types from one artist. Especially the complete contrast. But with miyavi you can. It has a song you love and enjoy, for every different mood. For every different type of emotion.

Its amazing, and I think it takes alot more talent and guts to produce completly different styles. Than to stick to the one your best at.

Hmm...favourite PV. There are plenty of his PVs that I enjoy...but favourite...umm -- definitely 'Dear My Friend' -- I loved that video. When I saw him doing the skydiving in the video I was just like '...omg...awesome!!' -- since I've always wanted to go skydiving. You ALL know how awesome you feel when you find out some of your favourite artists share the same interests as you! So yeah...I adore that video.

Ashita Genki Ni Naare is an awesome video too IMO -- the songs nice as well.

Jibun Kakumei is my 2nd favourite video. Like many others, it was my first exposure to Miyavi -- and I quite enjoyed the video. Adore the song as well.

My first post. and this shall be an introduction. I'm Yo-chan (not real name) and I've already bought all of Miyavi's albums, and his music vidz. I search for him everytime I'm online, and I am, until now, still in loved with MIYABI, as in Due'le Quartz, though I also like him (and love him) for who he is now. I find him inspiring, being able to change just like that without thinking about what others would say (wow, now that was too emotional whuhuhuhu) *lol* and I'm serious about taking a masters degree in Tokyo University (okay Osaka daigaku or Kyoto daigaku would do,.... Kansai, Kansai Kansai, and Amagasaki Japan is not that far away from there)... And i can also translate japanese/chinese to english so I'll be up for request (if i'm not too busy with my undergraduate degree....which is.... oh well, often) and i like kimi ni negai wo and ashita tenki ni naare....the same way i like papa mama nozumareru baby and dear my love instrumental. I'm originally into rock and visual kei (yes, the make up and cuffs and leathers) yet Miyavi's senor senora senorita made me view things on a new perspective... yes, any music would fit miyavi. and i respect him a lot as an artist!!!!

I think it was Jin akanishi they were talking about. try searching for "Kat-tun" on wikipedia. it's a boy-group similar to SMAP (Note: I actually hate boy bands the same intensity that I do LOVE VISUAL KEI ROCK BANDS so please don't mistake me as a fan or anything that adores these boy groups..Anyway, they have a lot of fans so losing me as one wouldn't matter :relief: ) I don't have the permission yet to post an image. :( Just take a look if Jin akanishi looks somewhat like Miyavi in some angles :souka:

Miyavi's eyes are bigger and wider, his nose is slimmer, and his lips aren't quite as big. Their facial structure is different as well. Miyavi's face is thinner than Jin's, who in ways has a more squared off face. Jin's jawline is also longer than Miyavi's.

Just a little bit of intelligence from people. That's all I ask for.

That's what I said. That's because I'm NOT familiar with Kat-tun or Akanishi Jin. I don't even know if it was Akanishi Jin they were talking because, that's because, I'm going to repeat it, I don't like Kat-tun and I don't know how each member looks like. And I just heard of it anyway. I don't think this has something to do with my intelligence because this is just plain information I've managed to grasp from somewhere and it doesn't have anything to do with logical, mathematical or inductive reasoning. As i've said, It was lack of information and not intelligence. And thank you for the pic, now I known how akanishi jin really looks like. And i totally agree that they are, in no way, similar to each other. So sorry if i've offended anyone with that.

I have just read it and to my understanding it means that once you have obtained your enlightenment, you simply just exist.This enlightenment is also known as a state of Nirvana. This is the ultimate state to be in. You have over come suffering, there are no boundries QUOTE:In voidness there is no form,
and no sensation, perception, volition or consciousness;
no eye, ear, nose, tongue, body, mind;
no sight, sound, smell, taste, touch, thought
To obtain a state of Nirvana buddhists use mediation, chants, they study the scriptures that teach you to have compassion for everything around you. Buddhists generally live by the 4 noble truths.
If anybody has anything else to add or correct something that I have written, please feel free :)

From what I could grasp, the Heart Sutra is basically explaining the state of perfect enlightment or Nirvana. I'm no Buddhist, so I don't know if what I'm getting is anywhere right... but it's saying that you must achieve complete emptiness to attain Nirvana. Emptiness is in every form, whether it be in the senses (sight, smell, taste, touch, hearing), perception, or consciousness. It is also complete with a mantra, a mantra of great knowledge (I assume to help you attain said Nirvana) "gate gate paragate parasamgate bodhi svaha" which translates to "Gone, gone, gone beyond, gone altogether beyond, O what an awakening, all-hail!"

Interesting fact about the mantra as quoted from Wikipedia:
"Although the translation is acceptable, the case ending in Sanskrit mantra is the feminine vocative, so gate is addressed to a feminine person/figure. A more accurate translation is "Oh she who is gone!" In this respect, the mantra appears to be keeping with the common tantric practice of anthropromorphizing the Perfection of Wisdom as the "Mother of Buddhas.""

I don't quite understand how this is a "heart" sutra. I could only think it's because people refer to "Nirvana" as an "ultimate happiness"... I have to disagree with that though from what I've read.

If you must become empty, does that not mean you are also clear of happiness? In ways, becoming empty... you don't exist at all. You become void. To be empty is to be nothing. You might overcome suffering and pain, but you also rid yourself of passion, joy, and love.

Bah, I dunno. I don't mean to state some religious debate, I'm just wondering if I'm not actually understanding what is being said.


Moving on, I've been so busy lately I haven't been able to put up a new lyric to analyze. I think it's been two weeks since we did KIMINEGA and Itoshii Hito.
So this week's analyzation can be about Girls, be ambitious.

Well... it's hard to explain. I enjoy analyzing things, that includes people. Figuring out how a person works, and what goes on in their brain. Part of that involves the aura/energy/atmosphere a person gives off. Lately I've just been getting quite the negative vibe from Miyavi and it's starting to tick me off. I dunno =X

This is the translation from Japanese magazine, ][ROCK and READ][/ (I tried, but it isn't very good).This is not a full interview because the whole interview is very long! So I am just putting the parts about his heritage backgroud, since that's what most people are interested about. My friend asked me to translate, so that is what I am doing.
Here he shares his personal history. Starting with a surprising word: 3rd generation zainichi (Korean-Japanese), death of his senpai, and his suicidal thoughts when the band got dismembered.
Interviewer: You were born in Hyogo (兵庫)?
Miyavi: Today I want to talk about my past before I was born.
I: Then about your parents?
M: Yes, this is the first time I am mentioning, I am 3rd generation zainichi (Korean-Japanese). Looking at the bloodline, I am mixed. My father's side, grandfather and grandmother are from Jejo island, which is famous for tourist site. They were living their until they came to Japan.
I: Did you know this truth when you were little?
M: No, at first the questions brought up, but I forgot. But you know when relatives get married. My father had 8 siblings. And he is the first son, so he always had to attend wedding ceremonies. I remember when I went with him to the wedding, at the front door the last names were written in big letters. When I saw it, one side was written "Lee"(李家) and the other side had "Kim"(金家). So even though I was little, (laughs) I knew those last names weren't much seen in Japan. And when I was little, I used to eat jijime(Korean food? I don't know) and see jogori (Korean traditional dress). Although I didn't know much when I was little, I knew I was alittle different.
I: So even though you were born and raised in Japan, you felt your surrounding wasn't quite Japan you are saying?
M: Yes, I felt it. I recently found out that my family's last name is Lee (李). There is Bruce Lee (different chinese/kanji character), so I thought it was okay to have Lee as last name (laughs). My grandfather and grandmother lived in Jurubashi(鶴橋). I was born in Nisikujo (西九条).
I: So after you were born, did you move straight to Hyogo?
M: No, until first grade in elementary school I lived in Nisikujo. I was very popular at stores. My mother's side grandfather and grandmother lived near, so I went to play there and they always gave me 100yens. (laughs). Also, when I went to public bath, they always bought me fruit juice and small toys (laughs).
I: So the neighbors all thought you were cute?
M: Of course(laughs), blah blah The interview is quite long, so I will stop here... www
Miyavi also mentioned of his heritage (3rd generation Korean-Japanese) to Korean magazine GMV (2004). He said, "I am mixed, but I don't think that's important. What's the point of thinking about it? When I am writing music, I think about what's important to me. I know history/background is important, but there are more important things. I want to show/express good sides from both Japan and Korea.

The Japanese and Korean have had issues in the past. It's not something still brought up in the present day. Many Koreans and Japanese artists have fanbases in eachother's countries now a days.

People say they see it in Miyavi that he's part Korean... I think that's a load of bull. If anything he got his height from his Korean blood, but he's said he looks strikingly like his mother who is Japanese.
But who knows.

I just want him to come out with more information, or music, or something.

Well I assume the Japanese are still slightly ethnocentric. Since they were so heavily in the past. Take gaijin (外人) for example. It's used for anyone not of the Japanese race. Some find it offensive to be pointed out strictly as a foreigner, but I do not believe the Japanese mean it (today) to be offensive. The word itself (historically) is all over the place, and in the past might have been used as an offensive term, but I'm getting besides the point.
The Japanese really had the upper hand over East Asia. Just as you said, Devious, "The refusal of many in the Japanese right-wing to admit to their country's past wrong-doing is a continuing source of tension between Japan and its neighbors, especially China and South Korea." Because of the conditions Japan was left in after World War II, they were forced to depend on foreign workers and international cooperation. They felt that, particularly the Zainichi (Koreans), were disloyal and the cause of riots. "Earlier, in 1986, Prime minister Yasuhiro Nakasone had gained notoriety for proclaiming that Japan was successful because it did not have ethnic minorities, like the United States. He then clarified his comments, stating that he meant to congratulate the US on its economic success despite the presence of 'problematic' minorities."
I don't know if the Japanese goverment and politicians still think like that, times do change, but I do not believe the average Japanese still perceives other Asians as such. I don't have any real proof, but considering how often artists will go to Korean, or Shanghai, or Taiwan... they can't think to poorly of them.

So to answer a previous question, Miyavi being mixed might cause some type of trouble. From the stand point of their past beliefs, it's almost like Harry Potter. Purebloods and all that. Japan is the Slytherins frowning on any of mixed or tainted blood.

Still, I do not believe many care that much about it anymore in present day Japan.



Any pictures of Miyavi with blonde hair would be a recent picture. Multicolored, silver (well that could be hard seeing as his NEWEST hair is silver, but there's been no real photos as of yet), or black, or blue, or green, or whatever colors he's had his hair, are all old. Be careful though, there's one very old photoshoot of Miyavi w/ "blonde" hair.

about the Korean-thingy, i've read a book stating that there were even half koreans in Japan who committed suicide just because they felt like they don't belong to any side. Pure Koreans as well as pure Japanese despised them and they only had a small close knit of friends. It was also said that it WAS normal by then that half zainichis suffer those kind of cruelties from people around : being despised for being half, and being ridiculed even at school. I do hope Miyavi didn't experience such :(

I don't remember seeing officially that he has a sister. I think he has a brother only... I don't think anyone knows for sure (besides them of course =P). I actually thought Miyavi and his brother look a lot alike! You have to remember he's usually dolled up w/ some type of make up (eyeliner, foundation), where as his brother has none. They aren't going to look identical, they're only siblings... but the similarities are definitely there.

got some news. please verify this. Miyavi will be forming a band with GACKT, Yoshiki of XJAPAN and someone from Luna Sea (sugizo or something). So that explains his XJAPAN puns in his diary.,....

if you've read all his entries this february, you might have read some XJAPAN puns which he used to describe how busy his life is, recently. It could be that he's actually working on reviving some of XJAPAN's songs to fit his new band, which,according to him, would be more visual. (remember how he said "i'll continue with the music I believe in".) Could it be that he's actually going back to his visual Kei Aura?

It was noted that Gackt will be the vocalist whereas Miyavi will come back to his old yet refreshed main guitarist role where he could scream as his lungs would allow him....only this time, he'll be a back-up vocalist.

Please verify this. Nevertheless, Miyavi already had hints about this in his past journal entries *sweatdrops*

Just received this piece of news from my friend, Karat; seems like Yoshiki has officially announced that he's going to form a band with Gackt and Sugizo for vocal and guitar respectively. I've googled it out for more confirmation:

SUGIZO has signed on to join YOSHIKI and Gackt in their upcoming band. Full details about the other members of this 5-member band, as well as the band’s name will be announced after the new year.

SUGIZO, who with Ryuichi Kawamura were the core members of LUNA SEA, was picked by YOSHIKI to be guitarist for the new band. SUGIZO grew up in a musical household as his parents played in an orchestra, and he plays violin as well as other instruments. During LUNA SEA’s indies days, they were signed to YOSHIKI’s record label, and since that time, established themselves as talented performers and composers. They have known each other for almost 20 years, and have complete confidence in each other.

Yoshiki said, “At first glimpse, he has this aura like he’s an alien from a mysterious place, though he has pure feelings in regards to music.” Sugizo also happily added, “YOSHIKI is like a great older brother that I can always rely on. It’s an honor to be asked by him.”

SUGIZO and Gackt first met 4 years ago at a music event. At that time, they viewed each other as rivals, but have since come to appreciate each other’s abilities. Gackt said, “That time we left fighting. (Laugh) We fought like kids. I thought that time was such a waste because we fought, but now I’m happy we’ll be able to work together.” “Gackt definitely has personality and charisma. Eventhough he’s very closed off with his private life, when you try to get to know him, he’s a person you can rely on,” said SUGIZO.

As far as band activities, YOSHIKI has been doing stuff since the break up of X Japan in ‘97. Gackt left MALICE MIZER in ‘99 to go solo, and SUGIZO has been working constantly since the break up of LUNA SEA in 2000. This is a dream project to have standout members from 3 visual-kei bands of the 90s.

YOSHIKI will be on drums and piano, while Gackt will do vocals. They have already started working on songs, and early in the new year they will start recording. Gackt will be working concurrently on this project as well as filming his performance in the NHK Taiga drama “Fuurin Kazan” (which starts Jan. 7) that will continue on until this autumn.

”I think I’ve finally settled on 5 members. A few named members have committed to this and I want to go world wide with this,” Yoshiki aspires. Gackt added, “We each have strong personalities so we’re selfish. People around the world probably think that things won’t go smoothly for us, but we’re planning on being the first Asian band to top the world charts.”

Sugizo also said enthusiastically, “I want everyone to look forward to explosive rock music that won’t fail to have an impact on you.” What kind of reaction will occur when these intense personalities come head to head? It looks like they’ll heat up the music world in 2007!

Watching the videos... For a show, that really sucked. Only 20 minutes long? No singing? I LOVE the fact that he did something here in the States... but. It sucked. O.o

Personally? I loved the dancing thing. I don't care if he was dancing with some random girls that probably still call him Miyaji (mostly because he didn't seem to care), HE WAS DANCING! And apparently dancing well. This makes me gleeful. xD;;

He really seemed to enjoy himself, though. Especially from that last journal entry. I don't like Masa Karasu's translation, there was a line that she must've thought "Miyavi wouldn't say that! I must be reading that wrong!" When infact, he did say it. He even went back and changed it because he realized it was derogatory. ANYWAY, there's a lady on another forum that translates his journals... but I don't want to advertise for a forum on a forum. So PM me or something if you're seriously that interested. The whole Yoshiki thing? Yeah, that was discussed about a month ago... Almost two months now, actually. Nothing is confirmed, it's all just up in the air at the moment (about Miyavi's new band, that is). My only thought is that there's talk of Yoshiki starting X back up. With Sugizo doing hide's position. So if Yoshiki's doing X again... what about his superband with Gackt? And what ever happened to Violet UK? Is that indefinitely put on hiatus or what? Yoshiki has too much on his hands to be thinking about more projects. I mean, the man can dream about future ideas... just don't let them out for people to start peeing themselves over. So I don't know what Yoshiki's doing to even figure out what Miyavi's doing.

{Going to America alone with just my guitar is cool, but of course I wasn’t there alone. There was a variety of people there to support me. So it wasn’t traveling abroad alone. Although it was the same when I was in Asia, I'm doing it like I did in Japan, and from now on I plan to do it normally like this. So, I want you to understand. Japanese fans, Asia fans, and Western fans all cheering together! I love seeing that sort of thing!}

i've already watched oresama a thousand times, ok that's exaggeration, ten times! :D i'm actually planning to do the subtitles this summer, if i have the time, and if my undergraduate degree's loads would allow me. Anyway, the good thing about oresama is that you don't have to be that good in japanese to understand it. You only need about level 3 or so in nihongo and a good colloquial dictionary (a nihongo slang dictionary is always better for our 'miyavizm' rather than a formal thick kanji-type jibiki)... and i've been past level 2 already so that would be less excruciating(ok.. with that i admit i'm better at the spoken japanese rather than the written one).

and jou is right, ore, by itself, is not arrogant/egoistic. though it's the vulgar form of watashi.

love the Miyavi!!! and i'm glad that he'll be back to visual kei (though some would be sad about it). Will he recycle his due'le quartz outfit? Miyavi's known for recycling his clothes so it would be fun to spot one familiar piece >=D

i've already watched oresama a thousand times, ok that's exaggeration, ten times! :D i'm actually planning to do the subtitles this summer, if i have the time, and if my undergraduate degree's loads would allow me. Anyway, the good thing about oresama is that you don't have to be that good in japanese to understand it. You only need about level 3 or so in nihongo and a good colloquial dictionary (a nihongo slang dictionary is always better for our 'miyavizm' rather than a formal thick kanji-type jibiki)... and i've been past level 2 already so that would be less excruciating(ok.. with that i admit i'm better at the spoken japanese rather than the written one).

and jou is right, ore, by itself, is not arrogant/egoistic. though it's the vulgar form of watashi.

love the Miyavi!!! and i'm glad that he'll be back to visual kei (though some would be sad about it). Will he recycle his due'le quartz outfit? Miyavi's known for recycling his clothes so it would be fun to spot one familiar piece >=D

Ok this is really freaky.. i was sitting in my classroom during english. of course you already know where I am supposed to upload it :p i really do hope i can do it this summer... anyway, it would take about a year to master about level 4 japanese (includes the 'ja nai' and 'te' forms and some 100+ kanji).. that is, if you just take it as a semestral subject in a university. however, about 2 months is enough if you really put your self into it :relief: by which case it's hard since we have other responsibilities too...

Ore isn't necessarily male. the male form is actually "boku" though "ore" is often times used by the "goons" and yakuza members as portrayed in movies...

know what, i just watched hide's funeral from youtube. and they were all crying... the fans were screaming just like that and it somehow pierced me. Afterwards I watched miyavi performing... which made me..... think..... what if Miyavi....... passes away like hide did? This would be very unbearable i think.... And i just hope Miyavi will stay here for so long because..... WE LOVE HIM A LOT, don't we?.... well, I was just too sad and maybe a horde of fans crying and screaming for hide really did the thing. I can almost imagine what they felt :( long Live MIYAVI-SAMA!!!!

oh... about that, i didn't say it was miyavi's FATHER who's actually in the line of politics. Miyavi's real surname is LEE (a korean surname) after all, and he admitted this on a certain interview. however, his surname went back to Ishihara after his parents had a divorce. Ishihara is actually a Japanese surname and it is his mother's. It's just that by the way miyavi talked about his surname (Ishihara) it did seem like he was trying to imply that his surname is kinda "BIG" and he doesn't want to use it's influence to make him even more popular. Though, I kinda absorbed Jou's point of view about this. Miyavi may not be from the political dynasty if Ishihara is a common name. However, i kinda disagree with the fact that most asian names are common. Well I'm Asian and everyone (or so) with my surname is actually a relative even if I don't know them personally.

So that's it... Just clarified the thing about Miyavi's being "korean". Of course, the Lee family would never dare enter politics. I had researches about this Mr. Ishihara in Tokyo and found out that he actually had biases against Korean. That, however, doesn't mitigate the fact the Miyavi's mother, which is an Ishihara, is a realtive, though she had married a Korean....

well, if you think about this, is it possible that Miyavi's parents got divorced simply because the Ishihara's greatly despise the Lee family? :souka:

Myspace. Pointlessneedles, the only Miyavi Myspace you should be looking at is his official (http://www.myspace.com/miyavijp) one. There's no reason for him to make a personal Myspace under the name "Miyavi" since it's not even his real name. I don't have his official Myspace friended (I should go do that actually...) so if that's the one that sent out the bulletin- Awesome, my apologizes for disbelieving you. If it wasn't, well there you go.

Onto the political/Korean thing. Miyavi's stated that he didn't get along w/ his father. So if his bloodline comes from a political descent, Lee being Korean probably is not the only reason his parents divorced. Looking up Ishihara on Wikipedia I found three different 'Ishihara's. (Four others were relatives of Shintaro Ishihara. His younger brother, and three of his four sons.) There's Shintaro Ishihara the governor of Tokyo (obviously), Shinobu Ishihara the ophthalmologist, the actress Satomi Ishihara, and guitarist Shinichiro Ishihara. Looking on Google I also found various other Ishihara names. Heck, there's an Ishihara politician here in the States.
So who knows. Maybe he's actually related to that Shinichiro Ishihara and music runs in his blood. It's easy to make a correlation to someone who's family is of higher power. (the "Vice President" in Miyavi's case) People can understand such a scenario with out too much effort. I assume that's what Miyavi was going for. Now I'm not saying it isn't possible for him to be somehow related to Shintaro Ishihara (though Miyavi'd have to be more directly related to a cousin of his or something), I just think you're reading too much into this. We're just fans who can make all the perceptions, observations, and interpretations we want. Only Miyavi knows the truth.

Besides... Miyavi's loud and obnoxious, and would probably bring shame to a political family xD;!

From what I've heard, the name "Miyabi" is a play off of his real name. 雅 is also read as 'masa' and is the last character of his name.

Miyavi's always making metaphors, so maybe the child birth thing correlates to music making? So then that would mean he's finishing up writing and/or recording things, which means a release sometime soon 8D!?

Someone mentioned buying CDs? Sometimes that can be really tricky. Some places stock up on Chinese bootlegged versions. When I'm at anime conventions (that's where I buy mine :-p) I look around the different CD places to see which ones are the authentic Japanese. A good way to check is the written disclaimer on the back of the CD that's usually in English. The fakes butcher it like crazy. xD; I was just at a convention in February (Megacon) and it was packed with Miyavi CDs. So yeah, next convention in May I'm gonna be burning a hole in my pocket with Miyavi (and hopefully DBSK) merchandise 8D!

And yes when you buy very good Cds it could be expensive, if you bought them on cdjapan or stuffs like that the price is the same as in japan, but the price to send them >_< OMFG it's almost the same as a CD........ The only way to do when you want to buy it from japan is to go in japan, or buy a lot and the sending price is the same for one CD or many, so many is better ^__^ I don't know for ebay or other stuffs like that....
