Hey. There are about 5 people (including me) in the chat right now... When we enter we can't see eachother type and we aren't in the chatroom according to the list... But when we leave and go back, we can see the typing of others above....can someone fix it?

I experienced almost the same thing as Tomii explained. There must be some problem... :(

Sorry, I cannot reproduce this error. Make sure you click the red button on the right when logging out.

Thank you, thomas, for feedback.

Sorry, I cannot reproduce this error. Make sure you click the red button on the right when logging out.

That means you can chat with other members without any problem?
After logging in and out (of course using the red button for log-out), sometimes it works but not always. And the other person I was trying to chat with could not see me at all, and could not see my message until logging out and loggingin again.

Thank you very much for your feedback. Do you mean these problems persist in normal chat or only when you open a private chat window with a particular member?

Anyhow, I will further inquire.

No, I did not try any private chat, the problem incurred in normal chat.
I hope it is something that can be fixed up without too much difficulties...

undrentide-san, I didn't think you ever chat here. Now I gotta check the chat members' list all the time and catch you!!

Kyoko-san,@I rarely join the chat - maybe three or four times since I joined JREF! But would love to chat with you when I've got a chance!! :-)

Seems chat is still broke? I could read the two members there, but they could not read me. Also, you still can not swap files(pictures). Took place at 8PM EST Monday night. Sorry to bug you about it.

And I, being one of those there, concur. I checked in and could only see my own posts, and my own name up in the little box at the right hand corner. I checked out (of course using the red button) and came back in and could read all the posts that had been made. At that time I also see another party on line, and read his/her posts, but that party could obviously not read either mine nor Frank's. I went out and came back in again, and then could read only mine again, along with all others made previously.

I too, do not intend to be pushy about it, but just to let everyone know what's happening--keeping the information flowing. Thanks for listening. MM

I knew this was here when I posted on Frank's new thread but I did want to vouch for what had happened this morning (Japan time). It might be good to merge these two threads?

Anyway, thanks for all the hard and troublesome work that is being done for us, and on behalf of a great on-line community, Jref !! MM

Thanks a lot for your feedback, it is much appreciated. I'll take a look at it tonight when I'm back home. I need someone in the chat though to test it.
:-)

Oh, and sorry for the inconvenience.

The same problem seemed to occur while I was in there today, around 18:00 JST.
I was talking to 2 members and I could see them perfectly fine, but they couldn't see me. ;_;
I wonder why???

Welcome back, Cue! It's nice to see you again! How are you?

Yeah, I couldn't see Cue in chat.
I saw Glenn come in and post a line, but he disappeared after that.
I also could manage to see what Cue wrote only after when I pressed Reload. But it was a mess, because I couldn't respond in time. Also, the sentences I wrote in Japanese (pressing enter after each sentence) did not appear in the order I typed.

FYI, I usually log in with Opera 9 (Windows XP). Because I failed with it, I tried IE and Firefox after that and didn't see any of them resolve the problem.:souka:

Yeah, the Japanese typing thing was a separate issue. I had a whole sentence disappear on me. :?

i dunno but somebody who has the ability needs to fix it. point blank. if it is their job then they need to do it. when did these problems start occuring? and why can't we share files anymore? is it a virus risk?

It worked fine to me when I was there 6 hours ago,
but now I can't see anybody~~~~! T_T

Ahem, sorry red, let's get together again, when the problem is fixed. :)

Welcome back, Cue! It's nice to see you again! How are you?
Thank you, Mikawa san! I want to talk to you soon.

I can currently see Cue, but I don't think she can see me.
I can also see Homocidalmouse and Mars man, so I seem to be getting at least a list of names.

while the admins have the ability to fix it, it doesnt mean they know how. we're not quite sure what is causing the problem. point blank. its nobodys "job" to fix it, besides the forum went a good many years without a chat and im pretty sure it can go another couple days or weeks until the problem is resolved. when the forum was upgraded to the newest version. part of the same problem. not if you dont accept files that could be a virus.

and might i suggust one other thing... patience.

Thanks and amen, Jeisan. Time is the problem, we all have day jobs that keep us busy. Yesterday I spent quite some of my scarce time to debug the glitch, but haven't found a solution yet. Sorry about that.

I'll do my best, meanwhile indulge in what the forum is for: discussion. :-)

And I, for one, certainly appreciate you staying up late to work on it, thomas. I had to go to sleep in the middle of the operation.

I'll of course second that motion and expression of gratitude. In the meantime, I will also--as I think all the others who have actually pointed out the problem here are of mind to do--wait patiently until it is working smoothly. I do believe the above posts, for the far greater part were to simply inform, while yet greatly appreciative for your clarification there jeisan !! Thanks all !! MM

thomas,

I'm also grateful for what you are doing here!

Please note that I tried to describe what happened when I was in chat as much as I can, hoping that anything I did will provide clues to resolving the problem!
Of course, I'm ready to wait for as long as it takes!

I don't know if this could be of any help, but...
the first person who joins the chatroom (or the only one person there) might be able to see everyone who joins the chat afterwards, perhaps?
I mean, when I joined the chat where Glenn and red were already there, I couldn't see them(and they were able to see me). But after they left and I became the only one there, then I suddenly started to be able to see everyone who joined later perfectly fine, like Mike, Mars Man and I think there were two more people, but they couldn't see me...
Err, am I making any sense?
Sorry, I wish I could explain it better. T_T
Well, it may not have anything to do with the problem but I was just wondering if this might help. ^^;

Thank you for all your hard work. Yes, please take your time.

Is the chat room here so fun then? I never been on it, so I wouldn't know :s

I don't suppose we have an "old" chat program laying around somewhere we could download till we figure out the problem with ours? Just wondering, do the people who supply the chat program provide tech support, or are you left hanging on your own? Some of my programs that become "bug infested" have to be completely erased and reloaded again to work.
In answer to your question Ayu-youkou, the chat room is a real fun place with the right group in there. I like chat , because you can become like close friends after talking with them for a while. Getting to know and understand people from other countries and cultures can really open your mind to new things and ideas. You can learn a lot from posts, but SOOOOO much more can be learned in chat. Our new chat room, when it works , allows people to practice their Japanese with native speakers, which is a great feature. Hopefully it will be up and running this month and you can try it out.

Neat, looks like I will have to give it a try then, I only use MSN and never used any online chat room, because of the kind of people that are in most of those rooms what are unmoderated in most cases and people are rude or have all kinds of random nonsense to say or perverts who try to hit on someone...

But from what I have seen so far here, there are a bunch of fun people here.

If anyone is wondering, the chatroom is still broken. I just checked it with Cue. :(

Nov 9, 2006, 09:44
Well, I think they will surely notify us when it's fixed and ready to use.

And dear admins and mods, I do understand you have your life like I do mine. So, I hope you don't feel pressured or anything, please. ;)

Too bad the company who puts the chat program out isn't responsible for fixing it's bugs! It would seem other websites using the same chat program must also be having trouble? Maybe if JREF admin can give us the E-Mail address of the chat room maker, we can drown them with complaints, LOL.

there is skype and msn live!! you can invite lots of people. but the problem with both is that once you change your status to "skype me" or online status, then a bunch of pervos attack. i thought i would lose my life one time....*shivers from the thought of pedophiles*:souka:
just a thought though....
