i should be travelling to kyoto next september for a month or 2, and i want to have a new camera for the trip.

i'm just wondering if its worth buying it when i get there. i want a Canon EOS 350d ('EOS kiss N digital' in japan, Rebel XT in US). at the moment i can get one here for about 440 (98,000 yen). ive checked some japanese sites such as amazon, and it says the same would cost 78,000 yen. thats damn near 100 which to me is quite a bit. especially since the newer 400d costs about 550, (i would rather get the better model if possible).

i have used these cameras before so dont need time to figure out how to use it. i have a photography degree. i am also going to take my pocket sized camera, and can last for a week or so with just that.

how much would these cameras be in a normal shop in kyoto/osaka? is it worth getting it in japan? bear in mind that i wont be purchasing it until next summer at the earliest. thanks.
