You mean from normal practice in relative clauses? Yeah, I think の probably is more common. But I meant when you take a sentence and turn it into a modifying clause you can replace が with の.

どちらもは同じ意味ですが、上の例文は「が」より「の 」方が自然でしょう。　

修飾節 (modifying clause ?) を使うときに、「が」は、直前の語を強調していて、
「の」は、直後、最後の部分を強調していると思います 。

In the case of a relative clause, my understanding is that が emphasizes the word directly before and の points more to what comes after. On the other hand, it's probably a very subtle, academic distinction lost on most native speakers.
