Why is it that so many other peoples' avatars do not show up for me when I view their posts? It seems pretty random to me whose avatar I can see and whose I can not see. Is there anything I can do to fix this and make it so I can see everyone's avatar?

It's the closest thing here to looking at someone's eyes, and I'd appreciate any help to gaze at everyone's beautiful eyes!

Actually, no. What I see in place of your avatar is a line of text which mysteriously states (Ad-Size)
If I want to see your avatar, I have to look at your public profile.

You mean all my hard work of changing avatars all the time is going to waste, you can't see & enjoy them? That is almost as bad as having a broken chat room !!!!!

I have had no such problems, Mikawa Ossan. Is this a recent development? Perhaps you could try clearing your internet cache and cookies?

I see your avatar and everyone else's, too, in this thread and all others I've visited so far. :?

Actually, I am using Firefox. I can see everyone's avatar who has posted in this thread so far except for Cue and Miki78. I have no idea why.

Let's see...I started noticing it at least a month ago maybe, but either it's getting worse or I'm just noticing it more.

Frank, don't worry, it looks like we can all see your pearly white "eye" (to mix metaphors).

There must be an option in the settings something like "Show other people's avatars" and/or "Show other people's signtures". There usualy is such an option in most forums like this. I didn't actualy check it if this one has such a feature.

I wonder if this is ok to post here... I keep seeing this random image in the different forums, and I have no idea what it is. It started showing up a few days ago and I don't know if it's my browser's fault or the board software's fault.

I get that now with the new Internet Explorer 7. Up at the top right , there is a little house symbol and a printer symbol under where it says "Live Search"; there is a small orange square with 3 white marks. If you hold the cursor over it, it says "view feeds on this page". If you click on it, it gives you a very weird view of JREF's pages? I don't remember anything like that on IE6?

I have no problem seeing all members' avatars including Uncle Frank's, whose avatar I look forward to seeing change everyday. That's why I am hesitant to download IE 7 until all the bugs are worked out.

That picture bears a striking resemblance to Glenn's avatar...

Incidentally, I can't see Ayu-Youkou's avatar either. I haven't tried reinstalling Firefox, but I just might give it a go someday.

So there's no JREF reason for random avatars not showing up?

It happened to me only once, 2-3 days ago.
I was using the same laptop, same browser.
When I was looking through the threads I usually don't read, and one member's avatar was not showing - there were two posts in the same thread and neither post show the avatar.
I forgot who it was, but because it was someone I didn't know (I mean I've never seen his name before) and it happened only once, so did not think about it until I read this thread...

I don't remember clearly, but only member's name was shown, no title (like 子爵、平民、皇太子, etc), no avatar. I thought it was a member who was banned, but no, at least no information was shown.

I'm using Firefox 1.5. After searching around, I've noticed that a lot of pictures seem to be acting strangely. The "new posts in forum" icon is no where to be found when I veiw the board. Except here:
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v165/Derrak/ww2.jpg
And also:
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v165/Derrak/ww3.jpg :(

Edit: I cleared the cache and the original picture is gone, but some of the other pictures are still not where they should be.

in the past few years, I have noticed the little white box with a red x in it in place of a picture or avatar. I always figured it ment there was a link to the pic or avatar that had a problem? I think they call it "linking to a URA" ?

Just a little update: I access JREF from two separate computers with two indendent internet connections. One of these connections is not all that fast, but the one I am using at the moment is quite fast. I have the same problem with the same avatars on both computers for some reason. I use Firefox on both computers, and although I don't know the version of Firefox on my other computer, this one is 1.5.0.8 Japanese version.

I've never had problems with pictures being in the wrong place or mysterious eyeballs, though.

I just installed Firefox 2.0. I still can't see the same avatars that I couldn't see before. What is going on here?

What I really don't understand is why only a select few will not appear....:souka:

I updated to firefox 2.0 and it got worse. =/

Edit: Nevermind I fixed it. It was the plugin I had installed, fasterfox.
