Fukuoka Tower, Fukuoka Dome, Ohori Kouen, Ohori Kouen Japanese Garden (Ridiculously Beautiful) Dazaifu Temple.

Kego Kouen, Shopping in Tenjin, Canal City, Tenjin Underground (Underground Mall) There is a beach next to Fukuoka Tower with a really pretty hotel (Marizon) on the water. Will be cold around that time but Nice to check out. You have to Eat Ramen In Canal City. All these places you can get to but Train or Bus. Most are on the Kuko line.

When I go, I plan to stay somewhere near Aso for a night or so and then proceed to Fukuoka and Nagasaki. I will probably stay a night or two at each.

WOW, thanks so much Epigene! When I last visited the base it was just sitting unused and seemed such a waste. I was told it was was a seaplane base for the Japanese during WWII. There was a small town just outside the base called Saitosaki where you could catch a ferry boat to Fukuoka. There was also a small prisoner of war camp near the base I once visited. There was a huge mountain of dirt there I was told the US prisoners were made to move from one point to another to occupy their time.I'm glad the old base was put to such a good use. Thanks again for taking the time to find that info.

Its a nice Mall next to the Yahoo Dome (close to Momochi Seaside Park and Fukuoka Tower, you could do those by foot, I got lost on my way back and went by the libary, some park and the fukuoka citiy musuem with really nice architecture... but there's always somewhere a bus in this area and most of them drive to hakata station or tenjin (you might want to remember those Kanji though)) There's a Hardrock Cafe there too... I lived like 5 minutes away, so I went there quite often...
if you go to Canal City on the top floor you can eat Ramen from all over Japan :cool:
