Hello

I am new here, I am not sure if this is the right section so sorry if it isn't.

I bought a reasonabily expensive TV in September and today it started going wrong. Showing a no signal msg with all inputs. This was the second time and its seems to be a remmitting error. So I took a couple of pics and returned to the shop. Having low Japanese ability I explained the problem and they gave me a bit of paper with the number of the supplier, which is all Japanese and I have no idea what the people on the phone are saying.

So my question is if I take the TV back to the store in its box with reciepts and boxed. Will I be able to push for a refund, as I think it will be easier and I will pop to Akihabara and another for an English speaking store. Has anyone had any success here? Its only just 2 months old and I have all the documents and leads.

Normally when you purchase electric appliances or AV products, you receive a guarantee card along with the product you buy. The card should show the date of purchase, and usually the shop who sold the goods to you stamps the card.
Most products are guaranteed for 1-2 years and if you have problems with the product, you can get it repaired (or replaced when it is beyond repair) under warranty, free of charge.

Usually it is not the shop that sold the product but the manufacturer who holds the responsibility for the quality and takes care of the problems you have.
Therefore the reaction you got from the shop is normal. You cannot bring back the product with problems to the shop and get refund/repairment.
You have to contact with the manufacturer's customer service with your guarantee card and model name, serial No., etc.
Is there any friends or colleagues who can help contact with the manufacturer in Japanese?
