:box: Been having a lousy week so far and thought I'd do a bit of writing to cheer myself up. This is a little story idea that has been floating around my head for awhile. Normally I only write songs or sic-fi/fantasy stuff, but this is something different. This is a story about a American guy who spends his last year of high school in Japan. I know you're thinking Tokyo Drift, but he doesn't race and he's there for a much different reason. During the summer he lost his family (mother, father, brother, and sister) to a drunk driver. He suffers from a bit of surivers' guilt. After beating two basketball players half to death for making a drunk driving joke his councler thought it would be best for him to spend time away from home. Since he was signed up to be part of the foreign exchange program it was reworked so he would spend his senior year in Tokyo. The story starts on his second day in Japan. Here goes nothing!

Five AM came to early as it always does. The scream of the alarm clock echoed through the little single room apartment. With a groan an arm reached out from under the blanket and smacked the evil thing off the night stand. Sighing, Joe threw back the covers and sat up. He had trouble sleeping the night before and the four hours of sleep were less than restful. Joe picked up his alarm clock, '5:30' right now back home he would be with his older brother feeding the livestock. Joe bit his lip trying to force back memories of his family. He took a look around his apartment to distract himself, it wasn't much, but it was nice. His school uniform hung on the back of his chair in front of the desk. He wasn't looking forward to wearing that. With another groan Joe went to wash up. 'Damn that's tight,' he said to himself has he pulled the shirt on, 'Does extra large mean medium in this country?' Joe picked up his bag, his John Deere hat, and a pack of pop tarts he brought with him from home. Half way out the door he went back grabbed his quitar, 'I think I might need this today.' With that he left his apartment behind to start his first day as a senior in high school. A senior in Japan no less.

That's it for now let me know what ya think!

Wow, that is very good! You have very good skills.

Hey I got a proposition for you. I want to get a team together to do a manga book. Maybe even publish it if it is good. However, I need some help with dialogue and story. I have already made one manga book, about 115 pages long. It was more of just a 'practice' book.
You won't have to do much work, and you can pull out at any time.
If you want to just give me your input on my idea that I already have that would be nice as well.

Anyway if you are interested email me at jbroyhill@gmail.com

cheers :D

Just adding a little more to the story. Hope you like it! Please give me some feed-back if you read it. :p

All around Joe the streets of Tokyo came to life. A Starbucks across the street was already packed to the bursting point. It seems no matter where you go people can't start the day without a shot of caffiene. The station wasn't too far maybe ten more minutes of walking. It was pushing six-thirty and Joe began thinking about home.

Right now, back at home he would be helping his ma make pancakes, eggs, and bacon. Joe could almost taste the flap jacks covered in hot melted butter and strawberry syrup. His older brother; Eddy, would problly make a joke involing the words; Joe, girly, and appron. Of course, their father would remind Eddy that a man who could cook had a better chance with women than who couldn't. If it was the weekend his sister; Sohpia, would be there eatting and joking with them. This would've been Sohpia's second year of college. . . .

Slowly, all the faces, sounds, and tastes faded to grey. That wasn't his life anymore not since they layed it in the ground. Why should he have been spared when everyone in that van could give the world so much more than him. After that day his once happy home became as cheerful as a drealic grave yard.

Joe fought back a tear as he started to return to reality. A sharp pain in his side forced his memories to the back of his mind. The source of his discomfort was a broom head jabbed in his kideny. A woman was sweeping up a pile of dirt in front of a little convince store and didn't notice Joe walking behind her. She stood to apologize, but stopped when she saw him. Joe wasn't surprized at all. It couldn't be very often that she saw a 6'4'' tall American wearing a Japanese school uniform and carrying a guitra.

She finally bowed, 'Shitsurei."

Joe smiled and returned her bow. He tipped his hat to her as he continued on his way. The closer he got to the station the denser the crowd became. Sadly, not everyone was as polite as the store lady. Joe learned this as a business woman pushed past him and knocked his freshly opened Poptarts onto the dirty street. He was about to say something to her, 'Screw it.' His empty belly could wait and yelling at the woman wouldn't fill it. He stood at the head of the group waiting for the train. The sideways glances they came him made him uncomfortable.

'You'd think I had an arm growing out the front of my head,' he said to himself and pulled a book out of his bag. It was a conversation book that he really didn't need, but Joe like to read some of the funny sayings. The train pulled up and he started to board until the people behind him started pushing. 'Damn! Hold on!' He sat down in the first sit he came to and people were crowding their way into every nook and craney they could. Joe rested his guitar between his legs and tryed to relax. In front of him stood a girl that was about his age. She was kind of cute, but Joe wasn't getting his hopes up for a girlfriend or anything. He knew to them he must look like a monster and scared the life out of them. The girl tensed up suddenly and her face flushed. Then he noticed why, the older man behind her was rubbing his leg against her. As the man started to move Joe stood and brought his heel down on man's foot. As the man yelped Joe put himself between the two like nothing happened.

'Ma'am, please go ahead and take my seat,' he offered the young lady with a wave of his hand. She smiled and nodded her head, 'Domo!' Joe turned back to the man and gave him a murderous look that sent to the back of the car in a hurry. Joe laughed to himself, 'I still got it.'

The train came to a stop and Joe hopped off. It was only a few blocks away from the school. The girl ran over to a group of school girls across the street and gave Joe a little wave. Joe returned the wave and headed toward the school hoping that there would be a store or something nearby to get a bite. His stomach was loud enough to wake the dead.

Well hope you liked it!

Well, just felt like adding some more.

Joe browsed through the little shop thankful just to find something to eat. 'Ramen, candy, and even more ramen,' he groaned to himself as he tryed to something that didn't involve using hot water and had more salt than a gallon of salt water. Well, shrimp ramen wasn't so bad, but it wasn't a real breakfeast.

"Five million types of ramen and nothing good."

Joe went back to the front of the store and was about to leave until he stopped dead. On the counter was a box of dounuts and a basket of fruit. He looked first at the fruit then at the dounuts and then back at the fruit. 'You've got to be kidding me.' Joe had a weakness for dounuts, but he always tryed to eat right, but dounuts! Nature's perfect food! A strong sense of will power was something Joe took pride in. Fruit was the only choice!

'What can I say? I'm weak,' Joe said to no one between mouthfuls of dounuts. As he shoved the last bite of dounut into his mouth he stood outside Katsu High School. To say it was bigger than his old school was an understatement. Wilford High School was one floor, not even a block long, and his class only numbered thirty people. Katsu on the other hand four stories high, at least two blocks wide, and could hold more people than he could count. Joe shrugged, 'Might as well get this over with.' Already people were eyeing him and whispering to eachother. "This is going to be a long day."

Aiko sat at her normal spot on the roof of the school with her feet hanging over the edge. Another year and another step closer to going off to college to study God knows what. Unlike her friend Kimiko she lived close to the school and had time to come up here to think in the morning. She ran a hand through her long dark hair apsent mindly. This year would most likely be like the last blowing off advances from guys like Masashi and Ichiroo. Nothing would change just the amount she had to study. She yawned and stood, 'Just another year.' Aiko picked up her bag and headed down to her join her friends in class.

That's it for now!

I hope this gets a reply or something. . . :relief:

Kagome sat at her desk going over never ending boring paperwork. She sighed a set the paper down and opened her desk drawer. She pulled out a little book tilted 'The World and You.' It was a little travel book that kagome bought after she finished college hoping to take it from country to country. Sadly life had taken a unforunate turn with the passing of her father. Not only did she need to help her mother, but also her younger sister Aiko who went to this very school. Her father didn't even get to see her gradurate. . . Life always seems so easy when everything is perfect, 'If only they could've stayed that way.'

"Excuse me, ma'am?"

Kagome didn't even hear the student walk into the office. 'Sorry, how may I help you?' He bowed to her, 'I'm Joe Hunter and here to pick up my class information.' 'Hunter? Yes, just a moment and I'll have your information.' Kagome hit a few keys on her computer and then printed everything Joe would need. 'So Hunter-san, how do like Japan so far?' He ran a hand through his short brown hair, 'Well, I'll tell you when the jet-lag wears off and I wake-up.' To really prove his point Joe gave a long loud yawn. Kagome smiled, 'Just don't fall asleep in class and you'll be okay.' Joe bowed to her, 'Thank you ma'am.' She nodded and he left the office.

-Well, that's it for now. I'll add more soon.-

Looks fine to me. Sorry to not have more to say, but I'm already behind in what I'm supposed to be doing... the internet? Sucks up time like some sort of creepy pocket dimension. I read the very first post, wondering if you ever got back with the manga guy?

I'll stop through again on Wed at the latest and actually say something useful. Till then, keep writing!

-Thanks for the replys! Here's another update!-

Aiko sat with Kimiko waiting for another boring day of class to start.
'I don't like you riding that train.' Aiko said with a frown. 'Somedays I think every pervert in Japan has taken a ride on it.'
Kimiko pulled back a loose strand of her black hair. 'You worry way too much.'
'You don't worry enough. Your father could have you driven or even sent to a school closer to home.' This was a regular thing for the two girls. Aiko and Kimiko had known eachother since they were kids. Many times people confused them for being sisters. Aiko always worried about her friend and only wanted her to be safe. Kimiko on the other hand just wanted to be with her best friend.
'I'm pretty sure I'll have less to worry about now that that big American guy is riding the train to.'
'For all you know, he's just another freak with a Japanese girl fetish,' said Aiko as she rolled her eyes.
The last American she delt with pinched her bottom and the jerk got a black eye in return. They both sat in silence for awhile as more of their classmates sat down or tiddied the classroom a bit. Aiko was about to say something when the whole class went quiet. Joe entered the room nodding good morning to people he past.
"Big is really an understatement."
'It looks like someone wrestled a uniform onto a bear,' Kimiko joked. She leaned closer, 'I think the school tryed to save money on his uniform.'
'I know, it looks too small for him.'

Joe took a seat toward the back of the classroom. He could feel people's eye upon him and hear their hushed conversations.

"Who's he?"
"...kind of cute."
"As if we didn't have enough trouble getting dates."
"That's him."

Joe glanced at the last voice he heard and was surprized to she the girl from the train. She was sitting with another girl a few seats away. He took a moment to get a good look at them. The girl he saved had long midnight dark hair pulled back into a ponytail. Her face was pretty, but her nose had a slight crook to it. What really drew Joe's attension was her smile and the way it made him want to smile. Her friend was a lot like her, but very different at the same time. She was taller, maybe came up to Joe's chin, her hair wasn't as dark, and her eyes seemed to have a sad glint to them. Hell, for as much as he could tell they were sisters. He thought about walking over to them, but stopped himself.

Forget it. I'm just a big ogre to them. A monster caste away by the darkness. Joe let out a sigh and pulled a book out of his bag. Angels don't care about monsters. . .

-Been having one heck of a crummy week. Some writing should improve it.-

Joe held a book in each hand trying to choose between them. In his right hand he held Trollslayer by William King. A grim action/adventure fantasy that was almost on par with Tolkien's work. In the other was a worn faded copy of 'Rome: A History.' A book given to him by his Uncle John when he had taken an interest in learning my about his families' past.

Slowly, Joe's memories played out before in his mind's eye. Joe sat in front of the fire place with a small stack of books next to him. Eddy was on the sofa with their mom and Sophie looking through an old photo album which they dug out of the attic. Their dad sat in a chair by the fire playing a soft tune on his favorite flute. Joe could almost feel the heat from the flames and hear the music. Faster than the good memeries appeared they were replaced by a chilling soul numbing nightmare. Joe stood alone before a group of headstones hollowed eyed and scarred.

Biting back tears Joe put Trollslayer away and set the other book on the desk. Even though he could still feel the eyes of others on him he ran his index finger over the scars under his sleeve. Drawing a hand across his brow Joe let out a soft sigh. He placed his headphones over his ears and pretended to read.

''When gripping grief the heart doth wound, and doleful dumps the mind opresses, then music, with her silver sound, with speedy help doth lend redress."

Joe didn't realize that he had spoken out loud and Aiko had heard him. She the sight of him in and wondered what his story was. From what she could from his eyes was that he was sad, lost, but even through such darker feelings she could see kindness. Kimiko started bugging her about what he said, but before she could answer their sense entered the class.

-I hope you liked it and sorry about the lack of updates!-

-Bad days are like a rain storm. The second you put away your umbrela you get struck by a thunderblot-

Every student in the room rose to their feet and said almost as one, 'Good moring, Shimizu-sensi.' Joe felt dumb saying it a moment after everyone else and in sloppy japanese in his own ears. Kazuo Shimizu stood before his class with a smile. He was a small man, but stood like a gaint with a even greater will. Shimizu-sense was at the end of his fifties, but his eyes had the look of a kindly little boy ready for life's adventures.

"Good morning class, I hope you are all well this fine day."

Placing his briefcase side his desk Shimizu leaned against it, 'I'm pleased to inform you that we have a new student today. Oh, I see he is already here. Joe, would you please come to the front of the class?' He waved for Joe to come up. Joe sighed and did was he was asked.

As Joe stood next to him Shimizu-sense smiled, 'Hmm, I thought you would be a little taller.' Joe laughed unable to do restrain himself and the class did the same. 'Please tell us alittle about yourself.'

Joe rolled his shoulders uncomfortablely, 'Aaaa. . . Good morning, my name is Joe Heidenreich. I'm from Silver County, Washington and, mmmm, I'm honored to be here today.' He bowed low to the class and then to Shimizu-sense.

'Thank you, Joe. Go ahead and take a seat,' Shimizu said as he sat behind his desk. 'Now, let's get the year started right. Open your books to page 56.'

Joe felt odd in his new class and his head was acheing from jetlag and trying to memorize so much. To make things worse he really needed to use the restroom. As he raised his hand a loud ripping noise sounded through the room.

"You got to be kidding me. . ."

His left sleeve tore at the seem along with his undershirt. As he tugged on it with his hand there was another ripping noise. His right sleeve was now torn and slide down his arm. A few snickers came from the other students. 'This can't be hap,' Joe didn't finish his sentence as a even louder ripping noise came for behind him. A big gash was in the center of his jacket.

"The gods hate me. . ."

His classmates gasphs as they saw the scars and tattoo on his arms. Joe tryed not to blush feeling the eyes of everyone on him. Shimizu-sense looked at him and then the clock, 'Well, it's almost time for lunch, so why don't we take a break alittle early?' Joe waited for the others to leave before he went to Shimizu-sense,'Thank you Sense.'

"You're welcome. Go to the office and see about them getting you something that might fit."

'Okay,' Joe twisted the torn sleeves in his hands, 'but first, where can I find the restroom.'

Kagome leaned back in her chair listening to her own stomach growling. It seemed everytime she tryed to open her lunch someone would give her something too important to wait. Right now she felt like she could eat anything even coconut and she hated coconut more than anything. She placed the last piece of paperwork away.

'Finally, now time for lunch,' she said to herself as you took out her lunch. She smiled as yes begain heading to the teachers' break area.

"Excuse me, ma'am?"

Kagome stopped dead in her tracks, she had to rub her temple trying to fight the urge to hit the owner of that voice with her desk. After a moment she turned with a smile on her face. 'How can I help, oh my,' Kagome had to hold back a giggle. Joe stood in front of her holding his shirt sleeves in one hand. His face had the hint of red to it and she knew it was from embrassment.

'Umm, my uniform is a tad small,' he showed her the back tear. Kagome sat down a wrote the address of a tailor that could help him.

'Here, this place will prepare some uniforms that won't rip,' she handed the note to him. Joe examined the note and Kagome didn't know if he understood what she wrote.

"I'm sorry, do you need me to write it in english?"

"No, I just have two favors to ask."

'Yes,' she asked hoping it wouldn't be like the last American whose favor was asking for a date. Joe ran a hand across his jaw, 'Would you hand me my guitar and can you tell me if there's a place where I can get a burger?' She reached between a pair of filing cabnet, 'There's a Burger King about three blocks east.'

"Thank you, ma'am. If you don't mind I'll bring this back after lunch."

Kagome nodded, 'No problem. Enjoy your lunch.' As he left, she thought about his scars. Poor guy. . . .

Aiko and Kimiko just finished their lunch and were heading to the roof to get away from everyone.

"Aiko, don't you think it was odd that Joe didn't join everyone for lunch?"
Aiko couldn't get the sad look in Joe's eyes out of her mind. 'Yeah,' she didn't say more trying to figure out if the faint sounds of music was in her head or not. 'I think he just needed some time to himself,' she brushed a strain of hair away from face.

"I don't think I could show my face if I ripped my outfit like he did."

Aiko didn't answer straining to hear the music. She waved Kimiko to be quiet
as they went up the stairs to the roof.

And quite honestly I'm sick of it
so please if I cut off this nose from my face
then i wouldn't feel so out of place
but it still woulnd't be quite enough for you
so please

Aiko opened the door and peeked outside. Joe sat one the ledge with his guitar and a chicken whopper next to him. Kimiko took a peek, 'What did he say?' She nodged Aiko, 'He has a wonderful voice, don't you think so?'

"SHHH!"

Joe cocked his head at them and smiled. He didn't say anything, but started to play again. This time it was a sad haunting tune.

its been forty-five days since the snows have begun
I stare at the fire and long for the sun
As bitter winds blow through the mouth of the pass
I sit here and dream of the Buffalo Grass

The ponies are shaggy, their coats have grown long
With heads down, they huddle together as one
At the window my breath forms a mist on the glass
As I patiently wait for the Buffalo Grass

The seasons still turn
and the prairies still yearn
For those who were here long ago
The Sioux have all gone and the Bison have moved on
Soon, I will follow them home

Mollie past in September and left me alone
now my heart is heavy and round as as a stone
Too many years have gone by too fast
And I long for the fell of the Buffalo Grass

The animals sleep while the world holds its breath
The woods are as still and silent as death
When the mountain streams flow, spring will follow at last
And the wind will blow free through the Buffalo Grass

The seasons still turn
and the prairies still yearn
For those who were here long ago
The Sioux have all gone and the Bison have moved on
Soon, I will follow them home

The geese will return, as a symbol of change
The elk will be foraging out on the range
Once agian nature's palette will color the pass
And I will find peace in the Buffalo Grass
Yes, I will find peace in the Buffalo Grass

Aiko wipped a tear from her eye has Kimiko walked out to greet Joe.

-I just wanted to update this story and tell everyone thank you for reading and giving me feedback. Thank you Jref! You Rock!-

Joe placed his guitar back in its case and stood to greet the girls who were listening to him play. He recongized them from his class, but he hadn't learned their names yet. Not knowing what to do he bowed to them praying that his uniform wouldn't rip anymore. Both girls smiled and returned his bow.

'Ohayo, I'm Kimiko Yoshida,' the shorter of the two introduced herself with cheerful smile. Her friend took a moment to examine him until she met his eyes. In her eyes Joe saw a hint of sadness that reflected his own like a mirror.

"Ohayo, my name is Aiko Kimura. Its nice to meet you."

'Ohayo, I'm Joe Heidenriech,' now he felt like a ***** reintroducing himself after already doing it in class. All he wanted to do was find a rock a crawl under it. Aiko could read his discomfort and broke the silence.

"So, what do you think of Japan so far?"

"Well, it's not what I was expecting. I thought there would be more cyber-samurai yakuza and tons of ninja-schoolgirls falling for me."

Aiko looked at him like she was about to punch a hole through his head. Kimiko on the hand couldn't stop laughing and soon all three of them joined her.

''You looked like you were going to toss him off the roof Aiko.''

"Well, for a second I thought he meant it"

'No, I haven't been in Japan very long, but I like it so far and,' Joe yawned loudly, 'if I wasn't so beat my face would show it.'

Kimiko went over to his guitar and ran her fingers over the case, 'That was a wonderful song. Did you write it?' Joe sat down on the ledge and took a drink from his soda pop, 'Thank you, I wish I could say that was my song, but its an old Chris LeDoux song.' Aiko checked the time on her cell and sighed, 'We need to get back to class.' She looked away from Joe, 'Maybe after school we can all get together or something.'

"I'd like that."

Kimiko and Aiko headed for the stairs as Joe pulled another Chicken Whopper from his bag, 'I'll catch up with you two after I finish lunch.'

-Update!-

Joe walked back to class with Aiko and Kimiko. Lunch had given him an engery boost, but he still felt like he was moving in slow motion. Both girls asked him little questions about himself and he answered them politely.

"Joe, do you have any brothers or sisters?"

He didn't answer Kimiko. but stopped and held his arms before him. His eyes difted from one scar to the next feeling phantom pains seep into his every soul.

'I. . . I,' he choked on his words and his hands trembled. 'I don't. . . I don't have a family,' the words were less than a whisper. 'They left this world and left behind this empty shell,' his voice sounded as if it dirfted out from oblivion itself.

Aiko placed a comforting hand on his arm and pulled him along, 'So, do you enjoy Shakespeare?' Kimiko was quickly in step with them as they continued on to class.

"Yes, but how did you know?"

"You qouted him before you started reading your book."

"My grandmother took me to one of his plays, All's Well That Ends Well, and I've been hooked ever since."

They past a group of under-classmen who couldn't keep from snickering at Joe. Kimiko said something to them too fast for Joe to understand, but they didn't make a sound after that.

"What did you say to them?"

Kimiko just smiled and kept walking.

'She said something along the lines of tossing them out a window,' Aiko told him with a smile. 'Don't let the cute smile fool you, Kimiko has a tough side to her.

Joe laughed letting his dark mood fade way. Their math teacher was in class before them. He was a short lanky man with beady eyes, greasy hair, and a rat-like manner. The way he looked at Aiko's legs made Joe take an instant dislike to the man.

-Been a very, very bad day. Really need to do some writing.-

Joe bowed his head to his new teacher. 'Konichiwa, sensei.' The teacher didn't pay him any mind as his eyes were focused on Aiko and Kimiko. Both girls shifted uncomfortabley under his gaze. Even before they finished their third year of high school they heard stories about Kito kamon. Joe's dislike of the man grew as he put himself between him and Aiko.

"Konichiwa, sensei."

Kamon-sensei looked up at Joe with a sneer, 'So, you're the American.' He eyed Joe's torn uniform, 'Can you not dress yourself?' Joe smiled and looked Kamon right in the eyes. Normally, Joe would respect that Japanese people don't make much eye contact, but he had to make a point.

'Yes, but my uniform wasn't made for someone with shoulders,' his tone was polite, but his eyes burned like hellfire into the little teacher. It was a test of wills between a weasely little man and a wolf. Kamon couldn't bare Joe's burning eyes and turned away.

'Konichiwa, Kamon-sensei,' came from the class.

"Konichiwa, class. Welcome back to school. Let's begin."

Aiko, Kimiko, and Joe took seats toward the back of the class. The two thanked him with a kind smile. He opened his book and already the numbers were giving him a headache.

Just what I needed. The torture called math. . . He turned his head upward, If any of you up there want to strike me with a thunder bolt, now would be a great time. Some how he knew the gods enjoyed messing with him. Sighing, Joe put on his tiny reading glasses. On his massive frame they gave him a comical look. A quick giggle told him Aiko thought the same. Joe took a deep breath and started fighting the numbers.

-Another update! If I make a mistake about Japanese schools or life in Tokyo let me know. Thanks! -

Aiko rested her head on her hand bored out of her mind listening to Kamon-san explain a problem to the class. She was still unnerved by the way her teacher eyed her and Kimiko. Her eyes difted over to Joe, she couldn't help giggling at the sight of him wearing such little glasses. He looked like some tough guy from a manga or video game. She stopped giggling when the student behind her cleared his throat very loudly. Aiko glanced at Joe again this time checking out his tattoo. It was a wolf, but not a vicious, bloody fanged monster. The wolf on his arm looked noble with sad lonely eyes. Her hand started moving her pencil and soon her mind was focused on drawing. She finished the drawing and checked her work. The wolf stood on a rig in front of the full moon.

"That's really good."

Aiko jumped in her seat and dropped her pen. He caught the pen just before it hit the floor. He offered her the pen, 'That looks a lot better than my ink. Any chance you do tattoos,' he jokingly asked.

"Thank you, but I'm not very good."

He held out his hand for the drawing, 'No, this is really good. Kind of reminds me of hiking back home.'

''Is there something you would like to share with the rest of the class, Joe-san?''

Joe looked at Kamon-sensei with an embarassed look on his face, 'No sensei, I just asked Aiko-san for some help on this problem.' Kamon-sensei sneered, 'That's understandable, American education has always been two steps behind the rest of the world.' Joe just grinned as a thought of hitting Kamon-sensei with his desk entered his mind.

'That would be my fault,' Joe replied.

'What?' Kamon-sensei couldn't hide the confusion in his voice.

'You see, when they tested Americans verus the rest of the world in education I was the student they tested.' Joe fought to keep a smile off his face. 'So, now everyone in the whole world thinks Americans are two eggs short of a dozen when it comes to smarts.' Joe put a mocking hopeful look on his face. 'But I'm sure with the help of a teacher who tests his students so far as to purposely misprint the problem I'll be a smart student in no time.'

Kamon-sensei looked at one of the assignments he had handed out earlier. 'Misprint?' He found the problem Joe was talking about and his face went red. 'Yes, and good job on that Joe-san.' He looked around at the class. 'I'm shocked none of you caught that. Since class is almost done finish the problems at the end of chapters two and three for homework.' He picked up his briefcase and hurried out of the room.

Aiko and kimiko laughed as the door closed behind Kamon-sensei. Some of the other studnets snickered as well.

Joe smiled and looked up at the clock. Only two more classes.

-The first day of the story is almost over. I might have the story move a day or so ahead. Also, I will try to make little bios for Joe and the others.-

Joe leaned against a wall outside the classroom with Aiko and Kimiko. They had fifthteen minutes before their next class would begin. Most of their classmates remained in the room, but some were out in the hall. Aiko glanced over at a group of girls who kept whispering to eachother and checking out Joe. Aiko and Kimiko knew the group well since they had been at the same school for the past three years.

Hime; a plan middle-class volleyball all-star known for her sometimes poor sportsmenship. Ayane; another middle-class girl, unlike her athletic friend she was known for her cuteness and fashion sense. Sakura; the leader of this band of misfits. Rich, proud, and strikeingly beautiful with a heart colder than then ice. She was well known for using her looks to get what she wanted and if that didn't work she used her other talent, bullying.

Kimiko and Joe paid the group no mind as they talked.

'So, Kimiko-san. What kind of music do you like,' Joe asked pulling at a loose tread on his torn sleeve.

''Well, I like pop music and some bands from America, but I really enjoy playing the bass guitar.'' She gazed outside into the cloudless sky, 'Sometimes I sing, but I'm nowhere near as good as Aiko.' Aiko smiled at her friend, 'I'm really not that good.' She cocked her head to the side to look past Joe. He turned to face a girl staring at her feet. She was short compared to Kimiko and must have been two years younger than all of them. Joe thought she was cute with her hair pulled back in pig-tails and the top of her head didn't reach his chest. The girl looked like she wanted to say something.

Joe gave her his kindest smile, 'Is there something I can do for you little lady?'

She looked up at him, 'My name is Yuki and I work on the school's newsletter and I was wondering if you might answer some questions.' Joe was a little taken back by this, but smiled none-the-less.

"I think you might find it boring, but sure that's okay with me."

Yuki smiled, 'Thank you.' She bowed to him, 'Can you meet me in a day or two at lunch?' He bowed in return. 'Yes, that will be fine. I'll talk to you then, Yuki-san.'

'Thank you again, Joe-san,' she walked away with a slight spring in her step.

The group of girls that had been watching Joe followed after her.

Aiko took Kimiko by the arm, 'We'll see you in class Joe-san.' The two went after the group.

Joe stood in the hall alone, 'Oooookay, I think I just missed something.'

Many spelling and grammatical errors, but the story itself is interesting. Keep writing, it's good, it just needs a little editing. :)

-Sorry for the lack of updates! Thanks for the feedback!-

Yuki made her way back to class with a smile on her face. It was the first day of the school year and she already had something to put in the school's newsletter. At first she was scared to speak to him because of his sheer size and the fact he was a senior. His smile flashed into her mind and Yuki giggled.

So lost in her thoughts, Yuki didn't notice Hime pass her and open the ladies' room door. A violent shove from behind sent Yuki onto the floor of the restroom. Her head bounced off the hard floor and eyes watering she tried to sit up, but a pair of hands pulled her up and pushed her against the wall. Yuki did her best to hold back her tears even as looked into the eyes of her attackers.

'Poor under classmen,' Sakura's voice was filled with mock concern. 'You should be more careful. Such clumsiness can't be good for you.'

'I'm sure her clumsiness would go away as soon as she learns her place,' Hime said with an evil smile. Ayane looked didn't say anything and could not even look Yuki in the eye.

"I didn't do anything!"

Sakura flicked her on the nose like a naughty puppy. 'That's no way to talk to your betters.'

"Back off!"

The bullies turned to face Aiko and Kimiko both looked ready to fight. Sakura cocked an eye brow at them. This wasn't the first time she butted heads with Aiko or Kimiko, but the last time it happened she had her boyfriend with her. The look in Aiko's eyes sent a chill up her spine, but Sakura wasn't about to back down when she still had the advantage in numbers.

'Why would I do that?' Sakura asked pushing Yuki against the wall again.

Aiko got face-to-face with Sakura causing Hime and Ayane to step back against the wall with Yuki. Kimiko leaned on a sink ready to help her best friend in a heart beat, even though she wasn't big on fighting. The two women stood their ground until Aiko broke the silence.

'If you don't leave her alone I'm going to hurt you all. . . real bad.' She clenched her fist cracking her knuckles.

Sakura broke eye contact with her.

'I don't like bullies and you can ask Kimiko. I don't back down from them now matter how big or how bad they are.'

Kimiko nodded.

'She's not worth it anyway.' Sakura said stepping past Aiko and walked out the door. Hime and Ayane were a few steps behind their leader.

Kimiko put an arm around Yuki. 'Do you need to see the nurse?'

Yuki just shook her head as the upper classmen lead her out into the hall.

'Don't worry, we'll walk you back to your class.' Aiko said wipeing Yuki's face with a damp paper towel.

"Thank you."

Joe looked at himself in the mirror. It was time for his P.E. class, but he didn't want to leave the locker room. His shirt was tight and his shorts were, well, too short and tight. Joe he glanced behind himself at his rear. I might as well be wearing a speedo or something. . .

He looked up again.

"Could you just make with the thunder bolt already?"

-A quick update!-

Joe stood by himself away from the other students trying to blend in with the wall. The bottom of his boxers kept slipping out from his shorts. On, the brightside I won't have to answer 'boxers or briefs.' He smiled at his own stupid joke and sat down. The girls' teacher already had them getting ready to play a game of volley ball. His teacher was nowhere in sight and it didn't seem like he was going to show up.

"How much do you want to bet the old fart is passed out again?"

"Nah, I think he's sleeping it off in a jail cell right about now."

Joe glanced over at the students sitting a few feet away.

'Yasuka-sensei will have us run laps if he doesn't show up soon.' Said the shorter of the two followed by a big yawn.

"I don't want to start the year off running labs. . ."

Joe stood up and walked over to the the cart where the balls were kept. 'Screw running laps,' he said has he took a basketball from the cart. Joe smiled and nodded to the girls' teacher, 'Hope you don't mind, but I'm going to play basketball until our teacher gets here.'

"Go ahead."

Joe went back to the guys' side of the gym and started shooting. Basketball wasn't really his cup of tea, but he was an okay player. The first couple shots he missed and got a few laughs from the guys. Joe smiled to himself and then dunked the ball. A few 'wow's came from around the gym and Joe did a few more.

He tossed the ball to one of the guys he was sitting by. 'Come on, it beats having to run laps.'

That was all they needed and soon the guys were taking shots and some tryed to dunk.

Aiko and Kimiko entered the gym and listened to their teacher yell at them about being on time for class. She made them both run laps around the gym until she said 'stop.'

'Sometimes it just doesn't pay to be nice.' Kimiko said feeling her lungs burn.

'You're telling me,' Aiko wasn't really listening since she saw Joe.

"Aiko, you can put your eyes back in your head anytime."

"Bite me, you looked too."

-Bad week tally: burnt three times in one day on same arm, my meal sold the least, and my heater is broke again. Yep, I really need to do some writing.-

Joe rested against a wall watching everyone. Aiko and Kimiko had joined the rest of the girls playing volleyball after running laps for being late. After class he had to ask them what happened. Another guy fell flat on his back has he tryed to dunk the ball.

'That's it for today,' the girls' teacher called to the guys. 'Go wash up!'

Even back home Joe didn't like taking showers at school. Last time he took a shower after gym class he swore the mould on the wall was looking at him. He felt a little dumb sitting on the little stool to take a shower. No one paid him any mind and he did the same to everyone else. Most of his classmates had alreadly headed to their next class when he started changing into his uniform.

God, I'm so sleepy. . .

He let out a big yawn as he pulled his pants on. Playing basketball on four hours of sleep wasn't his brightest idea. Before his shoe was all the way on, Joe slumped over onto the bench. Loud snoring thundered through the locker room.

Aiko waited outside the gym for Kimiko and Joe. A few minutes later Kimiko was with her.

'Are you sure he's still in there.' Kimiko asked growing impaitent.

"If somebody hadn't spent so long washing her hair we would know for sure, wouldn't we?"

Kimiko ran her hands through her hair, 'You're just jealous that I have such wonderful long hair.'

Aiko just looked away. Kimiko meant no harm, but Aiko was a bit jealous of her best friend. She thought that Kimiko was perfect in almost everyway; she wasn't too tall, her hair was long and beautiful, her chest was full, and had it not been for the crook in her noise her face would look like a sculpted angel.

'Excuse me,' Kimiko stopped one of the students walking into the gym. 'Could you see if there's a really, really big American guy in the locker room?'

The young man froze like a deer in the headlights of a big rig. He was a senior as well, but he was very shy and didn't talk much. Nodding, the young man rushed into the gym.

"I think you scared him."

In the locker room a group of guys had gathered around Joe.

"Should we wake him up?"
"No, let's push him over."
"You should stop talking, people would like you more."
"Come on we can out run him."

The young man pushed past them and shook Joe.

'You're going to be late.' He said too softly for Joe to hear. He shook him harder, 'Come on! Wake up!'

Joe rolled off the bench and landed hard on the floor, but kept snoring.

-Sorry about the lack of updates!-

Joe's snoring grew louder as the young man tried to wake him.

"You need to wake up! Your friends are waiting for you and you all will be late for class!" He shouted as he shook Joe harder.

Joe just kept snoring and rolled on his side. With a frustrated grunt the young man pulled back his leg and kicked Joe hard in the rear.

"Wake up!"

Joe's eyes slowly opened and he sat up. 'What? Ma. . .' He looked around confused unsure of where he was.

'You fell asleep and your friends are waiting for you,' answered the young man offering Joe a hand up. Joe took his hand and almost pulled him over trying to stand.

"Thanks little buddy." joe said putting on his shoe.

Joe patted the young man on the shoulder and turned to leave.

"Mama!" Mockingly came from the back of the room. Joe didn't turn to face the other guys. He just took a deep breath and his fist slammed into the locker next to him. With his jaw clenched thight Joe walked out of the locker room.

The young man opened the locker and was shocked to see how much Joe had dented it.

"Find yourself a new boyfriend, Kenji?" Asked one of his classmeates before he pushed Kenji knocking his head off the locker.

Joe leaned against a wall outside the locker room trying to hold back tears. A single tear rolled down his cheek. Joe slammed his fist into the brick wall trying to force back his memories. A dark shape formed out of the corner of his eye.

"Why couldn't you take me as well?"

"It wasn't your time."

"Joe! Are you all right?"

He turned to see Kimiko and Aiko rushing toward him. The dark shape was nowhere to be seen and he wondered if it was ever there. Joe shook away the pain in his hand.

"I'm okay, just really worn out. We better get going if we don't want to be late for class."

'If we didn't want to be late for class we would have dragged you out of there ten minutes ago,' Kimiko joked pulling Joe along with her as she started walking.

Aiko stood there for a minute looking at the cracks joe put in the wall. She ran her finger along one of the cracks and was shocked to see blood on her finger. She took a hand towel and pushed it over joe's hand. He looked down at her and nodded his thanks.

She smiled back at him sadly. He really needs someone to talk to. . .

-sorry for the lack of updates! Computer trouble!-

Joe tugged on his torn shirt as his teacher went on and on about expections of his biology class. To wasn't going to be like his biology class back home where Eddy manage to burn off one of his eyebrows with a bunson burner. A smile crossed Joe's face as the memory flickered in his mind like an old movie.

"What are you thinking about, Joe-san?"

He looked over at Aiko. "I was just thinking about my brother."

"Your older brother?"

"Yeah, my big brother Eddy." He said toying with his pen. "Eddy had a gift for getting the two of us in trouble. He always got us out of it though. The handsom and charming all-star quarterback. Eddy throw the game winning passes and I would stop the other team from scoring."

"Your brother sounds pretty cool."

"Yeah, he is. . . was." Joe choked on the last word.

"How are is your hand, Joe-san?" Kimiko asked giving Aiko a 'shut up' look.

He looked at his still bleeding hand. "Oh, this? Heck, this is nothing. You should see my hands during football and harvest season."

Aiko was glad to see his mood brighten and Kimiko was right to give her that look. She didn't mean to bring up bad memories.

"Do you still want to check-out Tokyo with us today?" Aiko asked him hoping he didn't change his mind.

"Sure, but first can we stop and get something to eat?" He patted his belly, 'I'm hungry.'

Both girls looked at him like he was crazy. Kimiko was about to poke fun at him, but didn't when the teacher cleared his throat. All three of them pretended to pay attenion.
