Hey guys,

i'm travelling to japan in the coming summer, and will be doing some travelling after working for a bit. I'd like to see a bit of northern honshu, but want to stick to the shinkansen (due to ease), but am unsure which of the major cities to stay in for 3 or 4 days (or use a 'base'), to see the city and perhaps venture out a little bit.

I'm currently thinking sendai for the famous bay which is near by, but is there more and better things to see in cities such as morioka or hachinohe?

Thanks for any help!

Marcus

It depends on what you like.
If you fancy visiting temples and old architectures, I recommend you HIraizumi, situated between Sendai and Iwate.
so yeah, stay in Sendai, and have a day trip to there might be good.
