I have it... I like it... but its pretty expensive... What exactly do you want to know? The dictionaries are obviously good, with lots of words... the usage is easy and fast... but you might want to consider buying... the G90 I think it was... because that one has a writing input... :)

hello,
thanks for the reply... G90? i'll look into it. i know thw "70" is expensive, but iut's a good unit. I understand that i can enter the romanji as well- perhaps you can confirm... my friend yuko is going back to japan in a few weeks she's willing to bring me one back if i ask her... she also said that this is a good unit because of it being so easy to use. I would be using it as an aid to learn the language.
thanks Gig

romaji... don't think so... It's completely in japanese except for the english ;) well... you write romaji... like g + a to get が (I have it on the Alphabet-Input mode... it can be changed to kana) but everything else is in kanji and kana... so you should be able to read kana... the basic language (field namese, dictionary name, etc.) can either be english or japanese...

I don't know how advanced your japanese is but the dictionary is probably not meant for beginners...

i see......
I thought that this unit i would be able to injput romanji.. perhaps i was was wrong....
My friend Yuko had mentioned that she was not sure what level it was, But did not think it would be too diffucult to figure out.. with her help i might be able to make sense out of it... for all intensive purposes, I'd call myself a beginner...
you suggest the g90?
I might have to alter my plans.... thanks for the input..

I believe you can choose to have English or Japanese menus.

The kanji animations are great, and the English dictionary is there in it's entirety, and not just a dictionary for the 'advanced learner'. I hope to get one of these as well someday, and especially for the two features above.

I was going to buy a G90 because I wanted a Kanji-dictionary that could show me the 筆順(ひつじゅん) or stroke-order. Instead I ordered a Nintendo DS Lite along with some Kanji-learning games.

Hello. Well, I was browsing for a Kanji-computer that could do stroke orders, so I typed that in Google then that machine popped up. It basically is a Japanese/Chinese/English dictionary I believe. It also has an electronic pen, but so does the DS.

My DS is now stuck at customs I believe but it'll be here in a couple of days.. I can't wait!! :relief:

I have the G70. You can't enter kanji by handwriting, but you can learn how to specify a kanji by its strokes and radicals.

One thing I really wish that companies would include in these electronic dictionaries is an E-J/J-E dictionary set for English speakers. That's definitions in English on both sides. All of them are aimed at Japanese speakers who need the occasional English, not the other way around. Trying to figure out some of the definitions is a challenge in and of itself.

Just cramming a copy of the JDICT database into one of these units would be a big step up!
