Well, Gackt will be appearing once again on the big screen in a new movie that’s set to come out in 2009 called “BUNRAKU”. This time, however, it’s a Hollywood flick that will feature both Josh Hartnett and Demi Moore.

Last year someone from Hollywood apparently noticed Gackt’s performance in the NHK drama 「風林火山」 (Fuurinkazan), and well, look where it got him. The screenplay for the movie and directing are under control of Guy Moshe and Gackt, or Yoshi as he’s apparently called in the film, is the samurai partner to the protagonist (played by Hartnett).
Gackt commented on his decision to perform in the movie and among other things, he’s said that he feels honoured to be recognized around the world for his role on Fuurinkazan. He also stated that he feels it is necessary for him to be a part of this movie and feels as if one of his dreams has come true with this opportunity.

The film is named after a type of traditional Japanese puppet theater, but the universe it is set in also draws inspiration from origami, video games, and other sources. Hartnett plays a drifter on a quest for revenge. Gackt will play his companion, a samurai named Yoshi.
Filming began in Romania during the middle of this month. The movie is scheduled to hit U.S. theaters in 2009, but no release information for Japan has been announced yet.

We are complaining about people only liking Gackt for his looks and not all of his many talents. And yes there are quite a few fans who think he is just good looking but there are just as many if not more fans who actually care about his accomplishments.

I think it will all depend on how big the film itself gets. If it's not *too* big and commercialised then I think Gackt's fan base will remain pretty much the same, however if it's set to be a huge block buster... with merch left right and centre... then it'll be a different story... although it will be nice to walk into a shop and be able to buy a huge *** picture of Gackt!

We shall have to see... I will actually go to the cinema to see this one... I've pretty much stopped going as my nearest cinema costs £7 for a ticket... I'll leave everyone not familiar with pounds to do the conversion! However, that's little to spent on seeing Gackt on the big screen! ^-^

I'm actually quite excited now I know it's official... although still fear the potential fangirls. :S

It sounds like it could turn out to be a pretty good film if they do it right. Which is good... it would have been upsetting if Gackt had been in a rubbish film... especially after how good Fuurin Kazan is.

The staff blog on his site is very much about food for some reason... the last two posts say little about anything other than what they are eating in Romania!

Shalimar_Doyle - Yeah I have... or a translation of it! His childhood was aweful... and the part where Kami died was so sad... the other members of the band didn't even tell him... he had a feeling something was wrong and was ringing round asking people if they were ok.


fiana - Love the picture... I am so in love with kenshin (Kagetora... what ever his name is... he has far too many names) ... he's definetely the best character in Fuurin Kazan... and I think would be even if he weren't played by Gackt ... I think... although it's hard to separate them now. I think when I've finished watching the series I will do some research into the story behind it... although I think they've got quite a lot right... with obviously some parts exagerated.

I think it's a general perception... kinda extends to Jrock in general. People seem to assume that the majority of fans are girls. As much as I don't think this is 100% accurate, I do know more girls who like Jrock than guys... and the same goes for Gackt.

About the autobiography - Did you get as far as leaving Malice Mizer and the time after that? If not I suggest you read that part... it's really interesting.
I think you've read the best parts of it though... his childhood was so strange and interesting... you can see how he became the person he is. I felt so sorry for him as a child. :(

onii-san is someone [older than you] who isnt your relative. someone who's not your real brother. it's someone else's brother so you call him onii-san. that's my info. in japan, they have different names for your own family members and for the others. like a little kid would call an adult "uncle"...but i may be wrong.

so i wouldnt call gackt onii-san...or if, i'd use very polite -sama. :bluush:

This has probably already been said - I'm not willing to look through 97 pages-, and there's probably a topic... but, I was wondering if anyone would seriously want to talk to me about Gackt and (dodges bricks) plastic surgery.

Or, Gackt in general. (I mean a proper discussion, not, "OMG HE'S SO HOT!" I spend way too much time doing that, as it is.)

From what people see, first off, they seem to think he's a very arrogant and egocentric man. I think this is mainly Westerners who are quick to judge (full-blooded British person, here, so I'm generalising AND including myself). It's like the whole, "omg hu iz he, iz he gay?" thing. I think guys this side of the world are so uncomfortable with themselves.

You don't have to be gay to appreciate beauty.

On to the plastic surgery issue. I support plastic surgery. If it makes you more comfortable, then go ahead and do it. In the end, the only one who's going to benefit is yourself and I'm a strong believer that Gackt HAS had surgery. When people say, "No way has he had surgery!" I think, "Are you blind...?" His nose (I'll leave the chin till later) is a prime example. Some time last year, after 'DruGParty' tour* (which was in March last year, I think) and before Fuurin Kazan he had his nose done. Well, I'm 100% sure he's had his nose done, it's pointy and more 'western'. I don't care, as long as it doesn't affect his voice. However, his voice does have a more nasal sound to it, than it used to... and I'm sure that's quite recent. Whether it's due to him ageing, or otherwise, I don't know.

*I'm pretty sure his nose was the same as previous years (excluding 2003-2004, because I'm sure he had his nose done in that time, too), although lighting does do wonders.

(Type in Gackt 2008 in YouTube, and you'll see his latest beauty commercial, this is a good example of his "new" nose. This was shown this year, in March.)

What I'm thinking is: Gackt, please, pleaaaase, stop before you turn into MJ. So many people think that, though, right? It is totally extreme, though, to compare the two. >.< Ah well.

AH! Another thing (this is just to get a discussion going). His TV presence. I think he's gone through 3/4 different TV personas? There was the first one, when he was new to being a solo artist. You see him as being shy, and incredibly awkward on programs such as 'HeyHeyHey'. Gradually, through two or so years, I think he sat down and developed this 'cold, enigmatic' aura. And then, from 2005-present he's slowly opened up and become a lot friendlier. I was wondering if people thought this was because he's got used to the fame, or decided to just be himself?

Oh, if people want to cut out buying the Ama Kakeru Ryu no Gotoku DVD, someone uploaded it onto YouTube (and it's subbed, for all us ignorant people out there, including me). I'm a little wary of it. I watched it, and at first, I was thinking: This is a whole new side to Gackt! And I felt quite touched. He seemed so open and honest - although, the honesty thing wasn't a shock, he's always been pretty blatant with himself.

Hm... it's a little too pro-Gackt and scares me how they don't criticise him once. It's a bit bias and probably propaganda, but, if you want to put all your faith into Gackt - watch it! It's incredibly interesting (minus Gackt's dramatic narrative, at points... makes me imagine how he acted in studio when he had to record it. He probably suggested it, though). d:

I agree with you about the plastic surgery. I don't have a problem him having it done and find it strange that it's such a controversial topic. So long as he looks good I couldn't give a damn how he achieved it. People get tattoos and piercing to enhance their appearance... why should plastic surgery be any different? Ok some people take it too far... and they stop looking good but so long as it's done well and controled then I don't see the problem... my friends now keep asking me when I'm gona get something done! I'm moving to Korea and they are convinced I will come back looking like a different person!

@CharismaticDeath that's great.Only 3 ppl XD My friend knows a guy who worked on the set of Bunraku.He saw him only once...and he said that he looked so tiny and thin to him (that guy is a big guy) but that he was laughing and looked like having a great time there with romanians and english crew too.I went to Romania myself just a month before the filming started and couldn't go again!*cry*I couldn't belive myself when I heard that he is doing a movie there!

On October 31st at ZEPP Tokyo, VAMPS (lead by rock band L’Arc~en~Ciel’s vocalist HYDE), sponsored a Halloween event, welcoming Gackt as a special guest. This is the first time HYDE and Gackt have performed together on stage, and they cosplayed, dressed in a bridal costume and military uniform.
Furthermore, BREAKERS, which is lead by DAIGO and Anna Tsuchiya also made appearances wearing Halloween costumes, and it became a one night only costume party.
The livehouse was filled with concert-goers adorning maid, and gothic lolita costumes giving off a Halloween-like mood. The starting act of the night was BREAKER’s “Obaka Unit・Shuuchishin”, making their debut with a Shuuchishin cover. Next up was Anna Tsuchiya who captivated the audience by showing the costumes she wore as Ichigo Shirayuri in the Kamikaze Girls film.

Decorated like a bird , HYDE appeared in a wedding dress stained with blood that gave off the image of a dead bride who had risen from the dead. With the fans shouting out shrill cries of, “CUUUUTEEE”, HYDE, swaying back and forth giving him a womanly appearance replied, “It seems like you like this " VAMPS first song out of a total of ten songs was 「LOVE ADDICT」 and guitarist K.A.Z, with his vehement sound, was singing enthusiastically.
