but it's kind of odd, cause Gackt before, when he was with Malice Mizer, kind of looked a bit like me... odd... my friends joke that he's secretly my twin sister, cause we have similar singing voices too (i'm trying to emulate Kyo from Dir En Grey more though)

I started out like Gackt, but much worse... Then I worked on my vocal range, and finally I just tore my voice apart, went to the hospital, etc, and finally I have something that resembles Kyo if I don't hold anything back but it's very difficult... T-T Naturally though I sound closer to Gackt... It's not that Gackt sucks (he is amazing) but since Kyo is much more difficult to emulate, I strive to be like him for the sake of the challenge... (*-*)

@Gackt21: Umm... I'm not so sure bout it myself too. You see sometimes, singers release part of their song for preview and sometimes, they release raw versions like demo tapes, though the sounding isn't that good, as in there are static and a little background noise, but with the demo tapes, you'll more or less get a feel of how their new song will be like. That is if we are lucky, we will be able to hear them. But then again, I don't think Gackt would release his demo tape anyway *sob sob*
Anyway, Ghost's preview is out! BOMBARSTING!!!! I love the new song!

Hm, so he is also using this voice distortion thingy, I'm not sure I like it, it doesn't suit MYV for example, but Alice Nine also use it a little on some parts of their new album, at least in the song "Hyakkaryouran".

I'm not sure I think it fitted Gackt either, but as long as it's just a little little bit of the song that uses it, it's excusable :souka:

Actually, Crystallize, this is not the first time Gackt's using synthesizer. He's used it before but I think it was of a mild use back then. But I agree, excusable if he's just using it a bit. I mean he's got amazing voice, why sythesize it? And I have to agree with Devious, I love it so much when Gackt's doing the robotic move. Just a bit more and he'll look like a perfect popper.

I honestly think that Gackt sounds great no matter what. I only wish that he wouldn't use synthesizer because it distracts from his own voice. But the sound of the songs that use the voice synthesizer is still good, and it feels like a part of Gackt's style since he has done it multiple times.

I liked Jesus a lot because I love the english part of it. Everytime that Gackt speaks english I can't help but swoon. :love:

joining Gackt's fan club isn't any easier than trying to join hide's... everything is also
( only ) written in japanese and it does seem to cost money, too. it's really a pity, and i don't understand the people that are responsible for designing those sites...they must know that hide for example still has sooooo many fans from all around the world and most of them don't speak japanese. most people do learn english in school though, so i think, those fan sites should be in english and japanese.
and i don't undestand why some people seem so hostile, just because some of us don't speak japanese. like me. i am willing to learn, but i have not found anyone who is japanese and can teach me the language. i even tried to go to restaurants to have certain things translated, but most japanese restaurants where i live are managed and staffed by koreans :-)
it's not that some of us don't try hard enough, some of us, just don't have the chance, posibility, etc.
i even checked out a good computer language program like rosetta stone, but do you know how much that costs ? not everyone can afford that ! and the cheaper language programs you can forget, because i am actually german and i looked at a lot of programs that are supposed to teach americans the german language and they are all horrible. they translate and teach you complete nonsense..... so save your money !

Actually a lot of people make this mistake. The X-Japan's Hide is actually Hideto in short. Many non-japanese think that Hide is pronounced as "hide" in English but actually the pronunciation should be something like "heeday" (I seriously don't know how to make it simpler). As for the L'Arc-en-Ciel's Hyde, this is an English word. Same sounding as "hide" in English. So Avalanche, do you mean Hyde or Hide?

yah gackt was married, there was some stuff about it on the miyavi forum... i just copypasted from there... According to his autobiography he married a Korean woman and apparantly fans kept hounding them or something. So they divorced and he said that he would never marry again because he didn't need to be married to prove that he loved someone (or something like that, which I thought was sweet).
But I think it said something about his wife not being able to leave the house because of the anxiety or something. It really got to her.
True fans should respect their idols, not become obsessed with them to the point that it causes damage (be it physical, emotional or mental) to them.
I thought fans of JRock/Jpop bands and artists were much tamer than fans of Western bands because seriously, I've heard people expressing their joy when engagements between their favourite artist and their partner break off, and I was absolutely amazed when (for example) I was on a forum and people said "Oh, it would be nice if he was married, I think he'd make a good husband". But all fans are obviously the same.

I was actually looking through the translation of Gackt's autobiography again today, and I was surprised to see that it looks like Gackt got married when he was 19! I had pictured him to be much older than that. Especially because it also talks about the 'crazy fans', and I wouldn't have thought that he was popular enough to have any of those yet.

One of my most constant daydreams is what Gackt would be like with a daughter. He is simply adoreable with children, and I think it's so sad that the reason he doesn't want one of his own is because he is afraid he would hurt him/her. Like when he said that he just didn't want anyone to have his genes, because then they would go through the same awful things that he did as a child.

The reason that I picture daughter is that even if he would be able to get to the point that he is even a little bit confident in raising a kid, even with his troubles from his own past, it seems that he would still maybe see too much of his own self in a son.

I know, I probably sound ridiculous. This is the only thing where I read a lot into the things that Gackt has said. I am just really curious how he would act with children, and I think it is a sweet idea.

I saw yesterday at youtube some clips of Gackt with children from Africa . He was so sweet with them when he teach them japanes words. I had the feeling that Gackt is more relax with kids than adults. I think he feel more secure arround them coz kids don't have these dark, bad and hidden entintion that most of the adults have. Coz kids are simply pure. God I return again to personality analisys. My sis hate me when I do this analysing everyone I see. Why do I have the impression that Gackt is only not on good terms with his parents especially his overtly oppressive father? I thought Gackt and his sister got along fairly well and to me, Gackt seems to be a person ready to protect the young and/or the weak, and he seems to long to have a family, please correct me if I'm wrong. That's the feeling I got from seeing Gackt interact with children and from some reports about his past.

And this is another one of my opinions. I think Gackt will make a good father. He shouldn't avoid having his family (but crazy fans SHOULD leave his family alone to encourage him to have one). Because of his past, he'll understand what a child needs. The freedom to try things out and not be imposed upon duties and ideals set out by a father. He'll be able to love his children and give them what they want. So it'll really be sweet to see Gackt having a family.

Well, unfortunately, Gackt has stated (very firmly) that he will a) never get married again, and b) never have children. *sniffle* It makes me very sad, but I suppose there's nothing we can do about it.

And also, think about some of the things that he has said. Even though he knows what it feels like to have your life dictated as a child, and he didn't enjoy it, even now he is still kind of a control freak (no offence to Gackt).

And then, even if he would be an excellent father, doesn't it seem like he wouldn't be able to see it? He, sadly, does not have a very high opinion of himself. And so I think that he would always be questioning his parenting abilities, and that would be a depressing situation.

Yeah, that I'll have to agree that he doesn't have a high opinion about himself. And somehow I feel that a part of him knows that he is up to it but another part of himself don't think so. He gives me the idea that he is fighting against himself, sort of like struggling with himself. Lots of his albums and songs tells the same story of self struggling and multiple personalities. I feel sad for him too. But still, I do hope to see him ending up happy, probably with a family (just my wishful thinking).

I am not so sure about the idea of Gackt faking his voice, because think about when he talks quickly to his friends. He still has a deep voice. And he has always had a low singing voice! Especially when he was younger in Malice Mizer.

Hmm... me too, I don't think he was faking. But let's just say that Gackt has a wide vocal range. The low voice belongs to him and so does the higher pitched. His voice range is real wide, from what I know.

Regarding the Ghost PV, I think it's not on the show. Is it a terminator film? Maybe Gackt was singing the theme song for version released in Japan? Or maybe he just uses terminator film cause the film inspired him to come up with the song?

Gackt likes terminator right? Correct me if I'm wrong. I remembered Yami no Shuen sounded like terminator's song too.

other than that i find it interesting that in ghost in the non singing part (at music station with the robot dance) the music turns kinda in the "battle music" of final fantasy (game for playstation) and gackt also is dancing like the enemies breath and move in final fantasy (and that he was reportedly the model for some of the final fantasy characters)

Gackt was the model for Genesis. He wrote Redemtion, which is the theme song from Dirge of Cerberus, which is Vincent Valentine's game. I don't think that Malice Mizer wrote anything for FFVII. That doesn't seem very like them at all.

I don't think he was. The only FF character that they have actually credited with modeling on Gackt is Genesis... and he did the motion capture/ voice for that character so it basically is him!
There are similarities between him and other characters, for example Vanilla era Gackt and Cloud... although never acknowledged...
I think his role as Genesis could be seen as finally recognition that he was inspiration!

And no MM definetely never wrote for FF.

Oh my! So much has gone on and I've missed so much! Reading the previous posts have brought back memories. I thought Gackt modelled for Squall when FF8 first came out and then I thought he modelled for Cloud when advent children came out too. There was a point when I thought Cloud's best friend, Zack was modelled after Gackt too. But a quick check into FF's web tells me that these are all not modelled after Gackt. But somehow I just wilfully refuse to believe that they aren't modelled after Gackt. LOL! Gackt has modelled for game characters besides FF right? There's Bugaijin though and both Bugaijin and Genesis really looked so Gacktish.

My favourite Gackt hair style is Diabolos Tour. It's the same as the Redemption hairdo ^^

Really? Gackt's look was model for Yagami Light? How can that be? Can it be that......Takeshi Obata likes Gackt too? But come to think of it, Light is just a typical character of Takeshi Obata-sensei. Isumi from Hikaru no Go looks like Light and Light is a mixture of a couple of characters from Hikaru no Go, Obata-sensei's the other product before DN. So...hmmm....

The first time I saw Gackt? Well, my sister really liked Vincent Valentine, so she saw on the wikipedia page about him that some guy named Gackt wrote a song for his game. And then we watched the pv for Redemption on Youtube, and that was interesting enough to keep me watching (pretty hair!) ^^

After that I just looked him up and watched Vanilla live and was like "Oh my! What is he doing with that BOY!" But, of course, I loved it. After that it was just a bunch clips of Gackt on tv shows, doing various cool things. And then I was addicted!!! ^_^

One of the things that I love about Gackt is the way that he doesn't use as much makeup and strange clothes as most other J-Rock bands do. As much as I love Visual Kei (I shall love Mana-sama forever and ever) I like it that it's just Gackt, his music, and his pretty face. ^^ The most in costume he ever gets is for the Diabolos tour. It makes him feel so real, and I just really like that.

Okay girls. I know that I have done my fair share of crying over this whole thing, but I was thinking yesterday. I think we need to remember what it means to be a fangirl and love Gackt-sama.
I don't think that he has anything against white people, at least not based off his pvs. The only Asian girl in his pvs that I can remember is Vivian Hsu. The rest were white.
We all know that Gackt has a special place in his heart for Japan, the Japanese language, and I'm sure his fellow Japanese people as well. Gackt is Japanese. We aren't. I know that a lot of the things he has done are really crossing the line on what's fair and what isn't (trust me, I know), but....maybe we should give him some room for his feelings.
Gackt is well known for using strange forms of writing messages. Maybe he doesn't want them to be translated because he doesn't want the meaning of what he was saying lost in the process?
There's no way to justify the many ridiculous things things he and his staff have done, so I guess that this post might be kind of pointless. But ummm....I think I'm gonna just let Gackt do what he wants to do and take whatever I can get. I don't want to be a fair-weather fan, you know? And maybe someday still he will tour outside of Japan. We'll just have to see.

I havent been here for a long time and I have to say about the blog writing thing am not in japan and I still write in his blog in english,(like come on he does speak english) and for translation I either translate it with my computer or I wait for some knew that a group in facebook has (called: Gackt is Godly)
And is not that hard to find Gackt's songs in the internet and I would appreciate if you could give the man a break, you don't know him as a person, you know him as a fan.
I also been hoping for him to come to Ontario, Canada, but who knows maybe someday like Gyc-jir kind of said, he would do a world tour just look at X-Japan it took them a while

Cannot understand the contents anyway. I know Gackt could read English and his English is quite good. Well, if you could write on Gackt's blog then it isn't a big problem on the feeding of infomation part from our side. we never said that we know him in person. It's just that I personally find it disappointing that he "forbids" people to translate his blog which makes me feel (as a foreign fan) like I wasn't as much worth as a japanese fan. Giostigma, recently a lot of the things that have happened in my life have been very hard, and during that time I was just really finding out about Gackt. Everything that I read about him, every interview that I read, every song lyric that I read was soooo encouraging. Sometimes it felt like he was talking directly to me, and it was the only thing that made it possible for me to forget my problems. It's because of Gackt that despite anything happened to me I could still function through everyday life and not be depressed. I took every word that he said directly to heart, and very quickly loved and respected him more than almost anyone else in the world. And that is why all of this hit so hard, because it felt like I had just been tricking myself. Like, "No wait. That message wasn't for me. I'm not one of those fans he was just talking about. That's just the Japanese people."
I don't think that I'm too obsessed with Gackt. He says his purpose in life is to move other people to find their purposes, and I think he is succeeding. But the only way I can let him do that is to keep listening to his music and reading his messages and, yes....discussing him with other fans on forums. ^-^

Oh, I know this is going back to old topics, but I read an interview with Gackt where he said something along the lines of, "No one should be able to follow someone else without doing any work, and no one should just carry someone through everything....The only fans that I want to take with me are the ones who are going to come along." And somehow that made me feel like I understood a whole lot better.

I guess he just isn't one of the happy-zappy-nyappy An Cafe types who just gushes about "the fans" all the time. (I bring up An Cafe because my sister is a huge fan of theirs and I am always jealous of how nice they are to their international fans >_>) ^_^ We have to do a ton more work than Japanese fans, but at this point if it takes learning Japanese (which I am working on doing) and moving to Japan (which I sincerely hope to do) to qualify for Gackt's weird standards, then so be it. I don't really know why I brought all that up, but it was just on my mind.

Just for me it's that I'm 26 and have an ill father I have to take care of and that's why I cant leave this country... if I could, I wouldve left years ago. Now, I don't have it in front of me, so this won't be exact, but I think that somewhere in Jihaku, Gackt said 'If Hyde was a woman, I would marry him. But dammit he's a man!' o(>V<)o!

Edit: I just klicked on a link on his official myspace (the link said "for europe") and it led me to a german site which said GACKT IS ON HIS WAY TO EUROPE!!!! the other thing is, the news is from 2007 and he still wasnt here... ? but hey, looks like there's hope xD) and also that link said that there is a special edition of the diabolos album with a booklet that contains the lyrics in english and GACKT HIMSELF translated the lyrics from japanese to english... never heard about that tho :S but that makes me, as a foreign fan, feel alot better xD

Helleu! I'm back! (momentarily...) The power cord on my computer is completely broken, so now I need to get a new one. I just snuck onto my dad's computer for a moment now. XD

Ahhh! So many pretty pictures!! :-) Grrr...I wish that I had all my pictures so I could post some that I have of Gackt and Hyde. >_< They are so funny together.

I found this sound clip of Gackt imitating Hyde when he is really angry. XD I will post a link to it as soon as I have a decent computer to use. It is so funny. He sounds so much like every time Hyde yells at him in Moon Child. ^_^ ......I just saw that movie a couple weeks ago, and I am sooo ready to see it again. >_>

I would love to look at the European edition of Diabolos. I heard about it and it sounds so cool!

I am so excited about the release of Bunraku!! I hope it comes to theatres here. I felt bad once again for everything that I said about Gackt not liking Americans as soon as I rememberd that Duh...he is making a Hollywood movie. >_< But I seriously can't wait to see it. Did anyone else read the interview where Gackt was like (not a direct quote...I just pretty much remember what he said), "During an important fight scene in the movie, there are many place where it looks like I get punched very painfully. I think that a lot of people will say, 'Wow, that's impressive acting'. Well, I wanted to tell you that it wasn't acting, I did get hit, and it did hurt." XD Yay! Fight scenes are exciting! But I am kind of nervous about watching it, because Yoshi seems like the kind of character that is set up to die, and I hate watching Gackt die. >_<

Oh, and one more thing about Bunraku. ^_^ Did you read about when Gackt said that during the filming there was a part where he was acting out a fight scene with Josh Hartnett, and Josh threw him against a wall and Gackt blacked out momentarily. Gackt said that he woke up with Josh holding his head and yelling his name. Hehe. You probably had heard that, but I just laugh every time I picture it.
