Just wanted to profess my love for Kaela Kimura's music. I wasn't really into Japanese music until I ran into her stuff. I'm not a lyrics person, I think they can be important but usually the song, the flow of the music, the breaks, the structure and composition are what keep a listener happy, especially because its usually background accompaniment to some other task like work, driving, cooking, etc. My Japanese isn't good so I can't understand them anyway. :(
Her songs really impress me because they don't have (to my ears) those predictable structures, breakdowns and token production qualities that music in the west has. It doesn't sound over-produced. Seems really 'organic'.
Two thumbs up for KK.
