I am sure you have heard the news already. Miyavi is in the Super Japanese band Skin, leaded by the Great Yoshiki-Sama.
Gackt-sama and Sugizo-sama are also in it.
I realize there is already a thread in Chit Chat somewhere discussing this new band but decided to make a new thread.
So welcome to the Skin thread

Hmm, they haven't done any songs yet, so, meanwhile, they're still a boyband for me :-)
So, Yoshiki is going to play drums again?? I just hope him not to have a heart attack during a show... but thinking about it again, that will be the perfect fanservice for me xDD

does it seem to anyone else that the general consensus is that this band won't last? that makes me kind of sad... that people don't even give them a chance...

i'm rooting for them, at least! even if the band breaks apart, i think their solo work will get stronger (especially miyavi... even though i like what he's doing).

my 34 cents.

Kikyos_Souls
May 28, 2007, 17:06
Know what I think as much as people do not think it will last, I think we may be surprised and realize that it will.
I mean a lot of it does not add up, Miyavia and Gackt? Even Gackt and Sugizo? Apparently when they first meet they started a verbal fight, but they are on better terms now. So they say...
Honestly it looks like egos will collide but I am sure they are just really happy right now and they will make it work. They are on the same "team" now, not competing against each other.

yeah, that's alot of ego in one band if you think about it, every one of them were the leader of an extremely popular vkei band at one time, so I could see some trouble, but honestly I think they'll try to work together for the fans, to make it something special and hopefully last a while. I for one hope things go smoothly because just the thought of sugizo and miyavi playing guitar together sends me on a spaz trip (let alone yoshiki on drums and gackt vocals lol). Those two together will kill. Anyways, so yeah, I hope that they work it out, and have matured since their earlier more immature days (except meev's, he'll never mature lol) plus it seems like they all miss working in a band together, the camaraderie of it all. Let's just hope that if somehow things do go wrong (God forbid)they at least make something amazing together before they do. who's with me? lol

Skin is an upcoming supergroup consisting of several Japanese rock musicians. It is to include Gackt, Miyavi, Sugizo and Yoshiki. The group will give its debut performance at Anime Expo 2007.

History
In August 2006, Yoshiki (formerly in X Japan and Globe) announced at Otakon that he would start a band with Gackt (formerly in Malice Mizer).[1] In December of the same year, it was reported that Sugizo (formerly in Luna Sea) might be joining the group as the third member.[2] Finally, on May 25, 2007, at the J Rock Revolution festival in Los Angeles, Skin was eventually announced, including the previously discussed artists, as well as Miyavi (formely in Dué le quartz). Skin will perform at the Anime Expo convention in Long Beach, California on June 29, 2007.[3] On May 27 it was announced that a U.S. tour would start after the Anime Expo performance, followed by some performances in Japan in November.[4] As of May 2007, no announcements regarding recorded material or the group's instrumental lineup have been made.

hey check out this yoshiki interview. I found it on jame usa. It details potential future jrock revolution projects and some info about skin as well, turns out it's not just gonna be a bunch of performances, they are already working on an album =D

JaME met with Yoshiki, the mastermind of the JRock Revolution event, in his dressing room at the Wiltern Theater in Los Angeles, California. The star was gracious enough to grant us an interview on day two of JRock Revolution, the evening after the confirmation of Miyavi as the 4th member of the super band SKIN.

We know you're extremely busy this evening, thank you for granting us a few moments of your time. Let's start with a few questions about tonight's event. How long have you been thinking about an event like JRock Revolution?
Yoshiki: About a year I guess. Maybe more like a year and a half.

What are your hopes and expectations for the event?
Yoshiki: First, I wanted to show all the band members their fan base outside of Japan. Many of the bands hear of their popularity here, but it seems to them to be more of a rumor. I wanted them to see the fans first hand. And also, I wanted to bring JRock to the US.

Where did you first get the idea?
Yoshiki: I saw Dir en grey live. They played here in this theatre. There were tons of fans at the show and the fan reaction was great, so I started thinking about it then. Also, I saw all the messages on my MySpace page, asking for Japanese bands.

You seem to be very in touch with your fan base. Do you think that's because of your MySpace page?
Yoshiki: Yes. When I was doing X-Japan, hide was the one. His role was to communicate with the fans, I was just the crazy leader, just doing whatever I wanted. Not to say that I didn't care about the fans, but hide was the one who played that role. But, we don't have hide anymore, so I think I should be the one to assume that role.

How were the bands that are participating selected?
Yoshiki: That was really hard. There were a lot of bands that wanted to come. It was really hard to make the schedule work, to make sure all the bands were available at the same time. Also, the JRock Revolution MySpace page ran some polls and did some research to see who the fans wanted the most, so we used that research as a reference. We wanted to make sure and bring a wide variety of bands, not just one genre.

Were there any bands that you really would have liked to have seen perform that were unable to make it?
Yoshiki: Yes, but this is just the beginning. There wasn't a lot of time when we planned the show. It was initially supposed to be 3 days with more bands, but there were many problems like visas, passports, and schedules. We decided to just keep it simpler this time so we could properly prepare. So next time we will have more time to prepare, and we'll bring the bands that weren't able to make it this time.

Would you take an event like this on tour?
Yoshiki: I'd love to, if it can be arranged. Logistically, it would have to be fewer bands. Having a tour with 9 or 10 bands would be too difficult to organize, and too costly. We'd need to tour with fewer bands to make it more efficient.

Why did you decide not to perform at the event? Many fans were hoping to see you take the stage and drum with a few of the bands.
Yoshiki: I don't know ....I wanted to make sure everything was organized first. If I performed there would probably be some kind of disaster (laughs).

Will you answer a few questions for us about your new band SKIN? Many fans are wondering about it..
Yoshiki: Sure, of course!

Do you have someone in mind to play bass?
Yoshiki: Actually ....we haven't decided (laughs).

Will there be an album, or just a series of live appearances?
Yoshiki: We're planning on releasing an album. We've already recorded rough versions of seven or eight songs. Everyone came here to Los Angeles in March for a few weeks so we could work on it.

What kind of a time frame do you have in mind for the band? Is this a short term project, or something we can expect more longevity from?
Yoshiki: Well, it's a band. You never know how long it will last (laughs). But, before we were a band we were all friends so I think it will last.

So that we don't take up any more of your time this evening, let's end with a final message for your fans.
Yoshiki: I have to say that without you guys I am pretty much nothing. I believe I exist because of my fans' support.

Does any one know anything about the rumor that they might be playing in France. From what I've heard Yoshiki says he felt bad that a lot of parts of Europe weren't getting much J-rock and said SKIN might be playing anime expo in France... I don't know if this is confirmed or just a rumor.

So does that interview mean that they are goin to get someone to play bass? I know they will obviously have to have one... but I mean a perminant member as opposed to session.

well Miyavi is still 25, he's actually turning 26 this september 14.

And yeah, Miyavi was ALWAYS the youngest member by far  even back in due'le quartz he was a year or two younger than the other members.

But with the line-up we can assume that Miyavi would be the next "hide" in the sense that he might just play that role literally. He's been very close to his fans more than anyone and that he's widely known for his great guitar skills. Although I share the same vK sentiment that no matter how great Miyavi is, he wouldn't be the same unique hide we really loved (Ok just to make sure no co-hide fan would kill me) ^__^

As for Gackt, we can assume he'll be the vocalist and Sugizo the supernband's drummer. Yoshiki can play almost any instrument but in my opinion he'll do best with a keyboard. :p

I know most of you are waiting to see Miyavi smooch Gackt and Sugizo smooch Miyavi and so on.
Then again I read somewhere Miyavi thinks Gackt as an older brother which is a good thing. Incest is wrong people. Although I highly agree with you dakkii I will be looking forward with glee for those "*myv waves, gackt slaps him upside the head* moments"

They might just make it... but we don't know if they can before they disband or something...

dakkii
Jun 19, 2007, 22:23
gaaxnela--> i think you're right... jrock is invading the world, as yoshiki has written in his master plan (ie. living in LA and jrev and i'm sure he had *some*thing to do with the US diru tour)... i think maybe SKIN will do for the US what X did to japan? something to gather ALL the jrock fans (in his mind... in real life probably no) into supporting one band and then hopefully gathering a larger world-wide audience (cuz america... erm... tends to infect things >_>)... i mean, i'm actually in tokyo right now (BE JEALOUS) and i had dinner with a family friend who likes gackt and she didn't even know the supergroup was happening... true she may not be the BIGGEST FAN EVER but if yoshiki wanted to focus on japanese fans, they sure as hell would know it. sorry this wasn't very comprehensive X_X i'm dead right now...

CharismaticDeath
Jun 20, 2007, 04:13
dakkii I agree. J-rock is even getting known over here... not only do wel sell Diru, MUCC and Despairs Ray in HMV now... but the Diru and MUCC secitons are regularly sold out at the HMV near me. This is quite shocking for England... especially somewhere as random as Lincoln... I thought I was the only person obsessed with J-rock (bar my friends) who lived there... but apparently not!!
Also I'm very jealous of you're being in Tokyo. :( I wants to goooo!!! So far not allowed... my dad claims its too expensive once you get there... the flight is no problem... we have enough airmiles within our family to rule the world... but the problem comes after that... espeically if I get in shops that sell J-rock stuff!! ^_^
I've been telling people in asia about the super band too... odd that us westerners seem to be getting the news first huh?!

Nan Desu Ka
Jun 20, 2007, 04:14
ah not fair! your in tokyo!? I want to go to japan so bad >_<

kogetsu
Jun 20, 2007, 04:16
Yeah, Jrock really does have a chance now of being an international success. Essentially X Japan was a band in Japan, targeting Japan whereas now they're more based in LA. 雅-miyavi- has started to tour the USA and will be going to Europe, as has Dir en grey independantly, and touring with such big bands like Flyleaf, KoRn and Fair to midland. Also the pillows and Puffy Ami Yumi (if you could call them rock. Theres certainally alot of rock influence there) seem to be more America-based. Oh and theres a popular Japanese band playing during the WARPED tour, but I forget their name.

I'm going into detail abit too much...XD

CharismaticDeath: Oh, we don't have MUCC or D'espairsRay albums over here in NI yet. But we do have one of Dir en greys DVD's in HMV.

CharismaticDeath
Jun 20, 2007, 04:28
kogetsu Its a start... I remember not too long ago when we have none... all it seems to take is the band actually coming to the country. Well to play a main gig... BLOOD came to an anime con, but I don't think it had the same impact as then Despairs Ray played here. It seems kinda crazy though, becuase *technically* (not wishing to assert political opinions on this one!) we are the same country!!

kogetsu
Jun 20, 2007, 09:33
Yeah. @_@ I didn't really think anything of that BLOOD performance as I didn't like their music that much. The only Asian band I can think of to tour the UK as a whole is Electric Eel Shock (who Also went down to Dublin!). I'm surprised bands the likes of the pillows, Puffy, L'arc~en~ciel and even Gackt solo haven't came over here to do full tours. Anime has played a big part in their international awareness.

dakkii: I'm jealous. Although your friend is a Gackt fan, we can't really blame her because S.K.I.N. actually announced that they are a band in America... Yeah so I guess they are really trying to draw in international fans.

CharismaticDeath: I'm also jealous of you... the airmiles... Well... I'm not a westerner... but I guess I'm one of the first people to know here...

kogetsu: Yes. In ten years, Jrock will rule the world, and we can be the proud fans from the beginning (WE'RE FIRST!!!). there's a japanese band in warped... woah... and it's okay. WE LOVE DETAILS.

You guys are lucky there's HMV in your countries!!! The HMV nearest here is in Hong Kong!!!

dakkii
Jun 20, 2007, 19:48
what's HMV *feels STOOPID*? O_o

but we've known that there would be a superband for a while... they should have at least known it existed!

and true dat! WE ARE THE ORIGINALS, BABY!!!

CharismaticDeath
Jun 20, 2007, 20:35
kogetsuI didn't take notice at all! I only heard about it when my friend from Japanese class said she'd seen them because she happened to be at the anime con. I know Hyde recorded an album here... but I don't think has ever played here! Which is a shame. I'm sure we'll start getting some of the bigger bands once they realise there is a demand.

Gaxnela The airmiles are more my dads than mine... They keep canceling mine... it baffels me... I thought they just accumilated until I used them... but apparently not! Where are you from? I don't reconise the flag. ::feels slightly stupid!::... Ah Philippines... it says... yes I was being stupid!

dakkii HMV is mainly a music shop but also does a lot of DVDs. It's one of the biggest in the UK. I'm guessin it's not that big outside our country. Aswell as it being quite big it is also quite mainstream... so is shockin that they do J-rock!

kogetsu
Jun 20, 2007, 20:42
HMV is a major record/dvd shop over here. It's like as popular as Virgin megastores would be. You guys used to have them in the states but they got bankrupt o.o They're big in Canada though.

Gaxnela: Yep ^_^ I can't find that certain band though. I added them on myspace, i'll try and find their name later on!

Gaxnela
Jun 21, 2007, 19:08
dakkii: Like what CharismaticDeath and kogetsu said, HMV is a music store... I know it has branches in HK, Japan, and UK... I wonder if they're gonna put branches in more countries... We're still first... haha

CharismaticDeath: Well, airmiles are still cool! Yes, i'm from the Philippines. I also got somewhat surprised that HMV also does jrock!!!

kogetsu: It's ok... I'm just happy the jrock is going to far places...(from Japan at least) ^_^

CharismaticDeath
Jun 21, 2007, 19:12
Gaxnela Some HMV's are better for J-rock than others... I think the one in Singapore (biggest in South East Asia) actually has a proper J-rock section... I'm goin to try and persuade my dad to left me go there this holiday... I mean it's only a 5 or 6 hour drive from KL!!!

Airmiles will hopefully get me another upgrade to business class! I managed that one once... over 12 hours in ecomemy is not fun!

Gaxnela
Jun 22, 2007, 19:46
CharismaticDeath: Yeah, I think that Singapore would have a nice jrock section because they have a lot of fans and a lot of bands do covers there! And I aggree, 12 hours in economy is not fun... especially if it's a straight flight...

CharismaticDeath
Jun 22, 2007, 22:16
The flights I'm doin at the moment are not direct but might as well be. The first leg is to Singapore then I have like a 30 min flight to KL. After the 12 hour journey to Singapore the last thing you want to do is get on a plane again! So all-together its more like 13 hours in economy!

it's definatly a hint lol, it's so cool huh? I love how it sounds too, the little hints of gackt's vocals, the intro piano followed by yoshiki's drums and the guitars, it's definatly them, I wonder if it'll be like an intro on their album or something, it'd be perfect for an intro :D

CharismaticDeath

A lot of people were saying how this band will never work
And that Miyavi like..doesnt belong or whatever [which I think is BS]

I think that the reason Yoshiki chose Miyavi was because he saw a little bit of what hide had in Meevers. So Gacchan will just have to buck up and deal with it lolz XDD

[first conversation I had about SKIN with my friend "Gackt and Miyavi? FTW" Lol]

Every band tends to have a lot of ego, sure this one has...a LOT of it..But I'm sure it will work :-)

I can't wait until they start making music and releasing it and stuff :]

well, actually there isn't really a proper j-rock section in SINGAPORE's HMV, but there are actually quite a few j-rock albums/singles available, u'll jus hav to go to the Japanese section (which is at level 3) den u will be able to find them (arrange according to the name of the artists eg. Jul 7, 2007, 06:06
who knows...I hope they get a full time bassist, but it wouldn't be very easy, all currently active bassists are too busy in their own bands at the moment, so they'd have to go after someone either retired or from a disbanded band...so they'll probly end up just using supporting bassists...the only one I could think of for a full time bassist would be Kisaki from Phantasmagoria, but he's on record stating he's retired from performing/making music forever so who knows XD

I don't see why they wont get one. It would make a lot more sense and improve their shows. Interview with Yoshiki
Interview!!

"What feelings you got about all your career ?" " I don't have the feeling to have finished something. It's something which isn't finished. I still hope to do more things and I count of course on your support "

"Aren't you tired with all projects you got at the same time ?" "I'm not tired
to make all this projects at the same time. On the contrary I am very glad to make all these things. And I want to continue to make my activities and thank you to support me"

"Do you continue Karaté?" "How do you know about it? I think it's rare a pianist who play karaté at the same time but i am still practicing karaté"

"Do you read fan's letters and do you reply to these?" "A thing is sure I read all of them especially on myspace it is easier. But for the answers I can't reply to everyone. I answers 1 email over 1000. I would like to answer more but, excuse me, I don't have enough time"

"During all your long career you played differents kind of musics which one do you prefer to play?" " "Rock"

"One fan of Japan asked : Are you going to do concerts in Japan & Europe with S.K.I.N or XJapan?" "I don't know which project is going to begin first in live but yes I'm going to do concerts in Japan & Europe"

"Which thing do you want the most ? And do you have it?" "I just wanna rock"

"What is musik for you?" "Musik is my life, it always was and it will always be"

"How do you do for being healthy? What is your secret ?" "I like chocolate so I try for not eating chocolate a lot and I do lots of sports"

"Have you ever though about doing your biography ?" "It's planned and it's for soon"

"What do you think about making people happy?" "Without you I wouldn't be there, I wouldn't exist. I have to thank you for all energy you gave to me and if I return joy to you it's nice and it's completely normal"

"Do you planned to open fanclubs of you, Xjapan, Skin or Violet UK outside of Japan?" "Yes if you want why not"

"Is it a real come back of XJapn?" "It's been a long time we are talking about rebuilding XJapan especially since last year. But one thing you must now it's in order to correctly end X-Japan. Because after Toshi left the band, hide and me decided to rebuilt the group in 2000 but hide unfortunately left us. From this moment, I'm in pain of not knowing what i'm going to do. So if i formed Xjapan again it's to end it correctly."

"If this project succeed, are you going to do some concerts in Europe?" -- "Why not"

"Why do you choose S.K.I.N for the name of the band?" -- "Secret! I have to ask all members if i can reveal it so it's not for today"

"Are you going to do some concert in Europe with S.K.I.N ? -- "Why not i love Europe"

"How do you live your first concert with gackt, sugizo & Miyavi?" "Band members are artist with strong personnality and it's a real pleasure to work with them. We are still going concert and repetitions"

"Who will be the bassist in S.K.I.N ?" -- "I will answer to you honnestly I didn't choose him yet"

"Will Jrockrevolution be in Europ and New York?" "Europe" -- "About Jrockrevolution, i received lots of mails about it in myspace. All people want new japanese bands. I want to help new bands so it's for that i want they go to Europe"

"Next year, it's the 10th anniversary of hide's death, are you going to do something for it?" -- "Just after the death of hide I wanted to do something but I couldn't mentally. But for next year, I'm supported by many artists so i'm going to do it."

Sugizo's thoughts on their performance
SUGIZO here.
Greetings to everyone I've met so far through MySpace! I'm so thankful for the chance to meet and become connected to everybody here. From now on, I plan to use this space to share my thoughts with you. I look forward to coming to understand one another, getting to know each other, and becoming one with you all.

After a period of intense activity, I'm finally able to take a moment to rest. I've been jet-lagged for so long that I wish I could somehow reset my body...

S.K.I.N.'s first concert was held on 6/29 at Long Beach Arena. All sorts of things went wrong, but everything turned out all right in the end and the show was a success. We expected a good turnout, and about 5,000 crazy, totally cool people showed up. Standing before them, I felt like we were able to fill the space with a kind of supreme bliss that was truly something to behold. Considering that information about the show was spread mainly through the Internet, the people who showed up deserve thanks and kisses for their enthusiasm. I think that the bulk of the audience was made up of local fans, but the Japanese fans and those who came from other countries also deserve thanks and kisses for their dedication and love.

I have the greatest respect for the other members of S.K.I.N. I've never before experienced anything like playing with artists possessed of such incredible auras and energy, becoming close to them, creating chemical reactions together. I'm forced to draw upon the deepest reserves of my own potential as an artist. I can't contain my excitement at the birth of a group who creates music and expression that is so thrilling and so full of pleasure, and I'm confident that we're going to evolve into an amazing band.

I really felt that music began uniting us all into one. Before my eyes, barriers of nationality, language, politics, and ideals were being smashed by the power of sound. S.K.I.N. expressed Japan and Asia's point of view, while each member of the audience transmitted the consciousness of their own country and culture. Differences ceased being important. Through music, people of different tongues, skin colors, customs, and religions become one.

You know what else I think? Our differences are wonderful and beautiful. What I've been seeking for so long is finally approaching. Rather than politics, war, or the desire for personal gain, I truly believe that music and the dreams we all hold dear are the forces that will unite the world. I can't wait to see what is coming.

Right now, S.K.I.N. is planning all sorts of things. Please wait for further updates!

The day after our intense concert, I stopped by Long Beach Arena a second time to see Ms. Anna Tsuchiya's show and watch Ju-Ken, the amazing bassist who played with us the night before, perform again. Of course I've known who Anna was for a long time, but I'd never seen her live before. She's a wonderful, sexy Rock'n Roll muse - I had no idea that such a charismatic pop artist existed in Japan! Wow. Now I'm a huge fan!

After that, I decided to see what was going on at ANIME EXPO. It was much larger and more exciting that I had thought, and I was reminded anew of the importance of Japanese culture and the influence it has. I had a really great time - there was even stuff from "Ghost in the Shell," which I love! I also want to say thank you to all the fans who took the time to come up and talk to me there.

And amongst all these other events, I've become one year older. Actually, growing older no longer scares me. Instead, I'm grateful that I've been able to live my life so far according to my own values. From now on, I'm going to live being true to myself while spreading even more energy than before.

I hope that all of us can walk on together forever.

I've been on his myspace n' stuff, he seems like a very beautiful person. btw, I've heard his guitarplay, its awsome [Miyavi's too]!

If only he could play bass!!

Yoshiki's got me really wanting to know what SKIN means now! It only bothers me because he's refusing to say! All I can think of is each letter has a significance to each member... but god only knows what they stand for!

Gaxnela - yeah hyde is going to conqure the world and we have a reason to follow him. He's a GOD.

anyway back to Skin does anyone have any of the songs, if you do would you mind sharing.

CharismaticDeath
Jul 19, 2007, 05:28
See I think the most likely outcome would be for Gackt to be the one seen to have conqured the world... but Hyde would be the man behind it all... with a whip! Yes I am just goin off into happy fangirl land now!

semi~sweet you have no idea how much I wish I could answer yes to that question... but sadly I have yet to find any SKIN mp3... let alone ones that are good quality!

CharismaticDeath
Jul 19, 2007, 18:13
Which song do you not like?

There is no way I could see them ever getting Hyde to join... but, hypotheticly, if they did... we would get Gackt and Hyde dueting vocals, and I really love the way their voices compliment each other... I wish there were more recordings of them singing together. It would be good if he did guest vocals even for an album... ahhh now letting imagination wander at how amazing this would sound.

Nan Desu Ka

semi~sweet: Sorrry, no songs yet...

CharismaticDeath: Haha. Hyde behind Gackt. How genius is this??? It makes sense. The band would be awkward if there are 2 vocalists to begin with... But it would be nice if he guest vocals... ^_^

the funny thing about skin though is that they're so damn big they dont even need a label lol they could do this whole thing unsigned and still anything they do or release will like sell out and break records and **** lol

@gaxnela lol yeah he's behind the times

funny Gackt-san <333

CharismaticDeath
Jul 22, 2007, 18:14
haha true. There is no way they could be anything other than amazingly popular!

I love Yoshiki's blog... it always makes me want to hug him. More than usual, as wanting to hug Yoshiki is a general state of my mind. He hasn't written for a while, unless it's on the Violet UK one, which I'm not subscribed to.

I agree Gackt really does need a myspace! Although Miyavi's isn't actually him is it? I'm sure someone said it was an official fanpage.

Nan Desu Ka
Jul 22, 2007, 20:56
yeah that's his page, there is a link to it on o-re-sa-ma.com (meev's official website) he's mentioned it before too

CharismaticDeath
Jul 23, 2007, 17:06

Nan Desu Ka
Jul 23, 2007, 18:19
lol it's weird-ish but I dont really have trouble with it, the first time he updated the look I did though hahaha I would press the link for profile or disco or whatever and nothing would happen, I'd keep clicking and nothing would happen, I finally realized that you click once, the neo visualism sign blinks a few times and then the menu pops up lol

as far as the tour stuff, there's a box at the bottom right of the screen that says "The Beginning of Neo Visualism Tour" click on that and it'll take you to the tour stuff

CharismaticDeath
Jul 24, 2007, 01:14
I found the menu thingy... but still couldn't find pictures any where! Either I'm being incredibly stupid or there isn't infact a picture gallery at all... but that wouldn't make sense because he sent out a Myspace bulletin saying there were new pictures up in it!! Oh it's all so confusing!

Humm I'm supprised I missed that then... I did have myspace.. are you sure it was actually Gackt who owned it and not a fanpage?
I probably was goin through my phase of refuseing to add any bands at all at that stage... Actually come to think of it... I only add bands I know... or people like Yoshiki who write interesting blogs!

CharismaticDeath
Jul 30, 2007, 17:27
I have to admit there is footage of me being a screaming fangirl at a Despairs Ray gig! It was incredibly embarising to find the video on youtube... mainly because my friends were then when I found it and just laughed at me! At least I was polite enough to leave a comment apologising for my behaviour in the background of their vid!!

Gaxnela
Jul 30, 2007, 18:31
I understand you... There are times when you can't help but act like a fangirl... especially when you are seeing the band for the first time or fanservice happens... But seriously if maybe you just took a video for your personal reference or something extremely good happened to you there, then I guess I won't mind watching it because I will be screaming too... ^_^

I mean at least you acknowledged that you were the one screaming... I bet some people would go as far as blaming it on the person beside them...

margosana
Jul 30, 2007, 22:16
Ahhhh..about fan-girls...I don't see anything wrong about them XDD But sometimes I can't help but pity those celebrities who have over-obssesed-fan-girls going after them XDD

And now about the band.^^ It will be intresting to look how they get along...After all, strong personalities always clash XDD Every one off them was a leader in the past,so I think that it won't be easy for them to come to an agreement.Unless, they are going to try to find a compromise ^^

Gaxnela
Jul 30, 2007, 22:37
Yeah... Imagine all of them bring their own stylists or something... theen try to fit them all in a busy dressing room. And think of their personal space... And expect the member's seperate fanclubs who go there, and think of them fighting on who's better...

Ok, maybe I'm going a bit overboard... But we'll never know unless we actually went inside... ^_^

RevengeBabyYeah- You're probably right XDD Maybe in the beggining it was like that, but right know they must be taking it for granted. It's just that I think that musicians like Gackt,Yoshiki and Sugizo, are already used to all of them after 10-15 years of fame XDD

I think SKIN would be having their official site soon as this is Yoshiki's huge project. I mean...he's quite tech-savy, so a site should be up ASAP. hahas.

By the way, I'm not trying to be a wet blanket but I don't know how long this superband will last. This is because the individual members all have different pathways in their music careers. Moreover, their indv styles are so different. Coupled with the differences in their age, the prospect of them staying long tgt just does'nt seem bright. Well, maybe they could prove me wrong. Only time can tell. (:

RevengeBabyYeah
Aug 9, 2007, 00:46
Well I think the fact that they all have their own careers strengthens them, but I can see where you're coming from.
Urgh....wet blanket...I hate that metaphor :p

FrostPixie
Aug 9, 2007, 00:56
Well, SKIN is like a side-project. I don't know about Japan but it isn't unusual for members of bands from other countries to be in several bands at the same time. Especially European bands. Frequently, singers of bands have their own, successful solo careers, too.
I don't think the band will be their main focus, though.

CharismaticDeath
Aug 9, 2007, 03:37
NDK... try Gackt Ares for female sounding male vocals! His vocal range scares me sometimes!

FrostPixie: I know what you mean about Eurpoean bands... especialy Scandenavia for some reason... there are so many side project bands that I really want to hear more of... but their members are too buys with bigger bands!

Gaxnela
Aug 9, 2007, 20:33
FrostPixie: Yeah, I mean They all are quite big right now with their own careers.... I don't think they will give it up so they would be in a fulltime band... And to think that the 4 of them have quite different genres...

Gazerocks
Aug 9, 2007, 22:03
Maybe their new music would transcend all their different genres...therefore a breakthrough! It might hit the Oricon charts and break some records. I'm waiting...they're a superband afterall, hence higher expectations. hehe

Aug 12, 2007, 00:49
I'm pretty sure that the bassist is only temporary. It seems like he was a bassist-for-hire at AX, lol, because I heard that he played for Anna Tsuchiya, too.

Nan Desu Ka
Aug 12, 2007, 05:05
yeah Ju-Ken was only a temporary solution since S.K.I.N. was performing and Ju-Ken was already there to play with Anna Tsuchiya. I'm honestly starting to think they wont get a full time bassist

Gazerocks
Aug 12, 2007, 07:47
arHhhh....icic. but it's kinda weird to always get temps bassists. hahas. wadeva, just make good music! (:

Gaxnela
Aug 12, 2007, 17:14
Well, I'm sure the temporary bassist is just temporary... I think they will get a full time soon... ^_^

CharismaticDeath
Aug 13, 2007, 04:26
Yoshiki said in that interview that they hadn't decided. I suppose they only will if they find the right person... there's no point in getting someone just to say they have a perminant basist.

Gaxnela I don't believe the castrato nonsense either... she just says it to annoy me... aswell as calling him Gackto-chan! Which, to be quite honest, creeps me out! Ironicly enough this person is actually a fan of his... she just enjoys torturing me!

Nan Desu Ka
Aug 13, 2007, 04:28
what do you guys think about J? he's an awesome bassist and he used to be in Luna Sea so he has connections with Sugizo, plus he's also a solo artist now so he's not tied down like other bassists who are in bands. I think that could really work!

CharismaticDeath
Aug 13, 2007, 04:34
Hummm he could work... but at the same time I don't think they would get him for perminant... it would be like Ju Ken all over again. They seem to not want more than one member from the same ex band. I suppose if they did the sound would tip more towards the sound that band used to have. Ie, if they had J they would get to sound more and more like Luna Sea did.

But of corse this depends on whos writing the music.... from what I've read they seem to be trying to do a joint effort with the writing.

Nan Desu Ka
Aug 13, 2007, 05:00
I think it'd be better than ju-ken though because ju-ken is just a bassist in a support band, where as J is a proven bassist in one of the biggest jrock bands ever and a successful solo artist,(but I do see your point) even so I think he could be full time. He's better than ju-ken and sets his own schedule since he's not tied down to a band. Honestly though I really dont know. I always said Kisaki, but he's kind of a jackass and his ego matches or tops that of the other four members put together lol plus not really the same style either....really who knows what they'll do...that's kinda why I think they wont have a full time bassist

I still think it should be a female bass player. For fun they should get Thera from Danger Gang. hehehe. Maybe not the best bassist but she will keep them in line.
Or have auditions? Why not? Then maybe they could find someone because most good bass players are already in a band and really, who the hell at this time would want to join Gackt, Yoshiki, Sugizo and Miyavi?
I mean not to be rude or offensive those names would scare away most bass players ready to go. Not just them, their attitudes and they already have a pretty well firm take on what they want, so to have another big name in the mix would only cause more headaches and such.
Also by auditioning they could get someone who is really passionate about music but who hasn't had the chance to get it on the go, and it would open a lot of doors for that person.
To be "weird" they should hire a bass player who isn't necessarily Japanese, so they can be Japan's super band with their "...." Bass player. LOL!
Then we can all try and audition!
semi~sweet Rock on! You can do it!

hey guys, found this yoshiki interview on JaME USA

Let us get to the heart of the matter with your new project, S.K.I.N., whose musicians are from various generations. On what criteria did you choose them?
YOSHIKI: There was no choice with regard to the generation; it is not something that I took into account. I chose musicians who had a strong personality and true originality.

Considering the diversity of each band member, was it was easy to combine each individual's vision of music?
YOSHIKI: In reality, they are not really combined (laughs).

Is it difficult for the four of you to work together?
YOSHIKI: We all have very strong personalities, but strong in a good way; there isnft any clashing while we work together. There have been times when we had different opinions, but it was constructive.

So the atmosphere was good in the studio and during your rehearsals?
YOSHIKI: Yes, definitely.

What was your first impression after your first concert in the United States?
YOSHIKI: Ah! Speaking for the group, the welcome we received was really warm and I was very satisfied with the outcome. I felt that the public truly supported us.

Do you intend to have other concerts?
YOSHIKI: Wefre thinking about it, but nothing is concrete at the moment.

Do you intend to release a single soon?
YOSHIKI: It will be more than a single, wefll release an album.

A DVD perhaps?
YOSHIKI: Certainly.

Some years ago, you shot the PV for Rose of Pain in Paris; what memories do you keep of that shooting?
YOSHIKI: Ifm impressed with your knowledge (laughs). At the time of X, before X-Japan, all the members wanted to go to the United States except me who wanted to come to Paris, so then I came here. I like anything that has a link with old castles.

What Parisian monuments did you visit?
YOSHIKI: I stayed in Paris for almost a month and so I had the time to sight-see. I often took the subway by myself, and visited places such as the Louvre. Sometimes during my stay, I went to visit places by myself.

And how about your visit this time around?
YOSHIKI: I arrived yesterday and I leave the day after tomorrow, if I have time I will try to do some sight-seeing tomorrow.

Will you try to visit the Eiffel Tower?
YOSHIKI: Ifve already seen it.

The castle of Versailles?
YOSHIKI: Already been there too! (everyone laughs)

Vaux le Vicomte (a French Baroque château)?
YOSHIKI: If I have time for it, then yes.

You are a perfectionist, if you had the chance to re-record songs by X-Japan, which would they be?
YOSHIKI: All of our work together was done thanks to each member of the group, notably hide, and since he is no longer with us, it is less likely that I'll change any of our previous works without the other members of the band there.

To finish, do you have a message for all the French fans who came to see you today?
YOSHIKI: For a while now, Ifve liked France and Europe in general very much, so I would like to come more often. I thank you for your support.

Thank you very much.
YOSHIKI: Thank you.

---------

The Q&A session started with the broadcast of a video reminding the audience of YOSHIKI's exceptional career. Most notably featured in the video was George Martin, the legendary Beatles producer, working with the leader of X JAPAN. This became a sentimental moment for various fans in the audience, seeing how much progress has been made for Visual Kei throughout Europe.
YOSHIKI arrived on stage, wearing jeans and a black jacket, smiling as usual and sat down in the middle seat, where he began the session by addressing the audience in French.

YOSHIKI: Hello, nice to meet you. I am YOSHIKI.

The audience was already on cloud nine hearing YOSHIKI make an effort to address them in their own language. The questions were pre-selected among those sent to JaME.

What are some of your impressions looking back at your career?
YOSHIKI: I donft feel as though I have finished anything, itfs not something that can be completed, but I have plans for many things I want to do, and I count on your support.

Do you become worn down by all the projects you have going simultaneously?
YOSHIKI: I am not tired to have all these projects going at the same time, on the contrary I am very satisfied to be able to work on all these things and possibly more. Please continue to support me.

Do you still practice karate?
YOSHIKI: How do you know I practice karate? [Someone shouts "We spy on you", which makes YOSHIKI laugh] I think that it is rare that a pianist would practice karate at the same time, and yes I still do it.

Do you read and answer the letters from your fans?
YOSHIKI: I definitely read them, especially on myspace since it is easier, but I lack the time to be able to answer them all. Ifll answer maybe one out of every thousand emails.

In your long career, you have played various types of music, what is your favorite style?
YOSHIKI: Rock!

What is the thing you want most?
YOSHIKI: Well! I just want to rock!

What does music mean to you?
YOSHIKI: Music is simply my life. It always has been and always will be.

How do you stay so young; whatfs your secret?
YOSHIKI: First, I like chocolate a lot and one of my methods is to avoid eating it. I also do a lot of sports.

Do you plan to write a biography?
YOSHIKI: It is planned to be done relatively soon.

What do you think when you realize that just by being here you make many people happy?
YOSHIKI: Without you I would not be here, I would not exist. I should thank you for all the strength you have given me and it is even better if I can make you happy.

Do you have any future plans to open a fan club for S.K.I.N. and X JAPAN to your foreign fans?
YOSHIKI: If you wish for it, why not?

Some questions about X JAPAN; how did you feel when you met Toshi again after all these years?
YOSHIKI: It was very strange. Toshi is someone with whom I grew up, and after I saw him again after all these years... I didnft know what to think about it. It was strange.

There is a rumor of X JAPAN reuniting; is it a true come back with a tour or only for recording?
YOSHIKI: Indeed, we have talked about the reformation of X JAPAN for a while now, especially this last year. If we do make it, there is one thing you have to understand, this is just to make an end to X JAPAN. After Toshi left the band, hide and I thought about reforming in 2000, but unfortunately he left us before then. Since that time, I have wandered in the pain of not knowing what I would do. I have the feeling that X JAPAN is not finished and if we could reform it, then it will be to put a real end to the X JAPAN era.

If such project eventually happens, will you come to Europe, for example?
YOSHIKI: Why not?

About Violet UK, are there any plans to come to Europe?
YOSHIKI: As Ifve mentioned before, I donft know which project will be the first to come to Europe, but naturally, the tours will eventually come to Europe.

Now a few questions about S.K.I.N., how did you choose this band name and what is itfs meaning?
YOSHIKI: Itfs a secret! I have to check with the other band members if I can reveal it to you, so unfortunately, it is not possible today.

Going back to tours, do you think S.K.I.N. will tour Europe?
YOSHIKI: Why Not? I like Europe.

How did you like your first concert with Gackt, SUGIZO and miyavi?
YOSHIKI: The members of the ban
