どうやって~ is the format to ask someone how did he/she do/did something, right?
like どうやって出来ましたか = how did you managed to do it

in anime, i often hear 何やっているの for 'what're you doing' type of questions. why isn't there any particles between 何 and やって? is it a colloquial form?

You guessed it right, it is common to leave out particles like that in spoken language.

一般会話では、特に「を」が状況によって、 飛ばされたりしますね。:p

接続語省略されても、　前後の文、その場の状況や雰意気で意味を理解(解釈)しなければならな い英語 よりも日本語の場合が多いですね。:note:
