Help between ho and bo?

I am trying to translate a certain Japanese animated series, and being successful in the translation, but I have a hard time distuinguishing between ho and bo.

Is there some way I can find out between the two rather than selecting parts of the audio and debating whether it ho or bo?

What kind of thing did you have in mind? Usually people tell them apart by being well-familiarized with Japanese speech patterns and sentences.

Usually if I can't distinguish the pronunciation of a word I'm unfamiliar with I type it out in as many ways as possible then look them all up in a dictionary and try to determine the meaning based on the context in which it was used.
