== A question about the water supply system in your country ==

In Japan, there are often water shortages in the case of a disaster and a drought though we have a lot of rainfall. The reason often explained is that water pipe networks are not connected to their neighboring ones. In Japan, water supply is managed by each local government independently.

I asked about the nationwide water supply network system in an popular Japanese question message board. But the answers were wrong or inappropriate.

And I finally found one informative site. This site shows the water pipe connection system between the two main Japanese islands, Honshu and Kyushu islands through a submarine tunnel. It is said to be used in the case of emergency.

http://www.city.kitakyushu.jp/page/suidou/menu02/c2_27.html

But I can't get any information about water pipe connections among local governments. And I have no idea about the water sharing among local governments. We know that it is useless to ask government workers about this kind of information. Every Japanese knows that government workers often tell lies and often pretend to be stupid.

Instead, during the water shortage, troops of the Self-Defense Forces deliver water tank trucks to those areas. But, most of the cases, they are too little and too late.

<question>

1. In your country, do you have water shortage problems due to disasters?

2. In your country, do you have water shortage problems due to famines?

3. In your country, who controls the water supply?; the central government, local governments, private water companies or others?

4. Do they share water by connecting water pipes each other?

5. Do military troops supply water with water tank trucks?

That's all. Thank you in advance.

== Postscript ==

In Japan, we hear that electric companies share electricity with each other.

Dude, you have one hell of a condescending attitude towards Japanese people.
I am not Japanese yet if I was a Japanese member of this board I would take offense at your insinuations and assumptions about the people and the country here.

My wife and her relatives here are Japanese and if you dared to speak to any of them with the attitude like you show here I would be surprised if you didnt think the entire world was against you. :box::mad:

It isnt funny anymore and I for would would appreciate you knocking it off.

Not just on this thread but on a number of other ones as well.
Saying things like this;

But I can't get any information about water pipe connections among local governments. And I have no idea about the water sharing among local governments. Whether true or otherwise is unecessary. Your comments are couched in ambiguity. Are you a Japanese citizen? If you want local information go to your local town office. Or are you afraid of the people who poured oil on the ground to come chasing after you?

For those here that might think I am off the reservation here please take a look at the following links the first one in my humble opinion takes the cake.
Cherry nests little condescending digs at Japan and the Japanese people in countless numbers of posts he makes. Read some of his posts closely and you will pick up the paranoia.

In the UK I get my water supply in two ways, firstly I just turn on the cold tap when I get thirsty, secondly if water levels are running low, you never know quite what is happening now and whats going to happen next, I just wait for it to start raining, then I go out my back door, stand still, look up to the heavens, and just open my mouth and let the raindrops fill my mouth. Starts humming Raindrops keep falling on my head............

I am just happy he/she deleted the ginko leaf, the Tokyo's symbol. It is good that there are many kinds of people here.

The modern water supply system after the Meiji was originally from the UK, but the post-war period, Japan chose the US system.
This was not the conspiracy, but just adjusted herself to the rapid urbanization.
Currently the Tokyo local govenment has been introducing more high-tech oriented water supply system, Super Tokyo Water, but there still remains tons of people.
