I don't think that there's already a thred for this group, so I decided to make my own ^^

Versailles is a visual-rock group formed in March (2007) by Kamijo, Jasmine You, and Hizaki.

The current line up is Kamijo (vocalist), Hizaki (Guitar), Teru (Guitar), Jasmine You (Bass) and YUKI (Drums).

They currently have one single out called "The Revenant Choir" (which is a very beautiful song btw...kinda like a story) which also have a PV (hopefully the link works: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=URCd6Qd1-DM ). They're releasing a 7-song album October 31 2007 called "Lyrical Sympathy" and a DVD called "Aesthetic Violence" in December.

I personally really like listening to "The Revenant Choir". The guitar solo/duet is INSANE and their outfits are honestly so beautiful.

Concert DVD release from visual-kei rejuvinators Versailles. This DVD is available in five separate limited editions--each featuring a bonus perfume produced by one of the band members.

There are 5 different versions... Kamijo version with a perfume called 'Louis', Hizaki version with a perfume called 'Princess Stairs', Teru version with a perfume called 'B.P.T.', a Jasmine You version with a perfume called 'Elegant Jasmine', and a Yuki version with a perfume called 'Dark Master'.

I wonder what each one of the perfumes smell like.... I also wonder what 'B.P.T.' stands for... I'm trying to talk my dad into pre-ordering one for me but I can't pick which one! :P

@ Kaine LUCKY!~ I'm still deciding....I have a lot of time left to decide...but to be honest, mainly I want the perfume. If it were just the DVD, I'd wait till after Christmas and get my dad to buy it for me then, but this happens to come out before/around Christmas and have something that I love come with it (BIG fan of perfume. Don't usually wear it, but I like the different smells :P )

Amita: lucky? well.. it burned a nice hole in my wallet... but hell -_- it was a bday present to myself =D the second i heard unique version of DVD, i jumped on it.. and the fact that a fragrance/perfume that kamijo designed HIMESELF just worked as a 'OF COURSE YOU NEED TO GET THIS' booster =)

raikujin: LAREINE was a GREAT band... one of the best i personally think (and yes.. unfortunately they are disbanded).. but i love kamijo and his voice so my opinion is biased =P lareine and versailles dont really sound alike.. lareine is more romantic, melody and its not as rocked out as versailles... but they have some of the best ballads EVER!

lyrical sympathy preorders come with postcards? i think... is it too late to preorder it? shrugs.. cdjapan sells the DVD and perfume/fragrance. eh, pixy told me this one german site that was selling lyrical sympathy and their extra is a DVD.. i think its the shouts & bites pv tho?

Ah, im impressed by the guitar solos in The Love from a Dead Orchestra(TLFADO)<3 And Kamijo's voice fits so perfectly with the song... Shout and Bites is indeed good! It's like my fave song in the album followed by TLFADO x33 But it seems that he sang a lot about shinigami xD

YAY My CD came yesterday!!! The music is amazing! I'm not feeling well right now so I'm not going to write a full review, but so far, my favourite songs are TLFADO and The Red Carpet Day.
I just realized that the ending piano parts of Sympathia is the paino parts of The Revenant Choir....somehow it took me an unbelievably long time to realize that.

I just realized that the music for The Love from a Dead Orchestra is written in a strange way....I can't remember the 'musical term' for it (it's pretty shameful cause I'm in a special music program and I can't remember half the words used), but it's like 'One song' or a song under one title but it has different 'movements' or 'parts' in it. That's why it stops, but starts again at a different beat, or with a different....sound (?)....I'm still trying to remember the word though....

A lot seemed to like The Red Carpet Day. I prefer TFLADO but this song (TRDC) has a really good happy feeling to it and Ican imagine that it would be really fun to perform it and to have the audience shout.

The bottle is really small. For the past week or so, the Shinjuku Holiday CD shop has had the package on display. I overheard the Japanese fans who were checking it out all saying the same thing. "It's so small! It looks like a mini size!" I don't think they're too happy about it. It's so small that I don't think it's going to matter whether we like the scents or not. There isn't enough perfume for us to be able to wear it regularly anyway.

Hmm, it is kinda small. I thought that the size would be somewhat similar to those perfume bottles sold in the market... It looks like it's better suited for display and such instead of wearing it.

Kamijo at least isn't wearing his perfume. I received mine a day early because I got it by mail-order instead of a brick and mortar shop. "Louis" is a woman's fragrance. Kamijo said in the comments that this is the kind of fragrance he'd like to smell on someone else.

The perfume comes in a small 5 mL vial. The necklace is in a separate baggie and there's an eyedropper to transfer the perfume.

The live video is a digest of the 8/30 concert set to "Shout & Bites." The Kamijo version comes with about four and a half minutes of comments from him.

It seems that Versailles only considered a female audience when they decided on perfume for the Aesthetic Violence goody item. A more useful, uni-sex signature item would have been better. For example, a nice pewter cross with the floral Versailles logo running horizontally, and the engraved name of the member running vertically; similar to what Malice Mizer did for that Cathedral box some years ago.
In any case we really can't complain, not when you consider the other things that Versailles considered putting in there. And having said that.... here are the..

Hmm, you're right that perfume is more appealing to female fans, which contradicts what they said before that they want to target a wider audience. But maybe some versions of the frangrances are for men but we can't really tell at all by just looking at the box. They've probably got their own reasons by choosing to give perfume than anything else. :]

Have you ever heard Hizaki talk? He's not like Kaya, Jasmine or other heavy glam/VK drag performers, he doesn't raise and or otherwise feminize his voice to accent the image. You see him come out looking all pretty, then he answers a question and he sounds pretty much like any other dude in a bar, saddling up to a stool and ordering a beer. It's funny. Though I kinda wish he did do the feminizing voice thing... it would sound better with the image.

I'm not one for enamel wear on drag queens. If a boy is going to go-girl as much as Hizaki does, then I definitely prefer simply clothing.

Well they have certainly selected an opening act that won't give them any challenge at the "goods" table. But why M. Opera??? I'm surprised one of the other Sh. Artists bands didn't get the vote. M. Opera has a good vocalist but a shining example of what visual kei is... they most certainly are not.

It has to be Matenrou Opera, even if they're new and few people have heard them. There's nobody else at SAS who can go.

Dollis Marry is on hiatus since some members left in early autumn.
Juka is taking time off from music because of throat polyps.
Metis Gretel is about to disband.
The Unforgiveness only has one song, and isn't a rock band so they're confusing to audiences. Their lineup is Kanzaki and about 9 support musicians for string and backing vocals.

I think Matenrou will do okay. Their music is catchy and easy to enjoy.

I'm dreading hearing more about the tour. I'm going (from Japan) and as long as I'm going to Europe at all I might as well try to follow the entire tour, but it's a nightmare of coordination and logistics. >_<

As for Matenrou Opera... they totally lack a WOW factor, unless there is much more to then than what I saw three weeks ago. The vocalist is the best thing about them. But maybe they'll dazzle things up a bit before venturing to Finland, the home of heavy & death metal and which is most likely to be their the toughest crowd of the tour.

And as for the Japan to Europe tour you're proposing... have fun with that Euro / Yen exchange rate. It was 155.40 today... if you can even get a rate that good. I guess you are richer than me. Getting 45 Euro for every 100 Yen is not my idea of a vacation.

I agree... the M.O. vocalist IS that band. But I think a fashion and hair designer would do wonders with their image and would cover up the fact that they aren't strumming anything new on their guitars at all.

As for Versailles they are fun and the music is spot on with the CDs. Hizaki's guitar work is always a big highlight. The only critisism I have is that they tend to stay "in character" a little too much. They should appear (to the audience) more as rock stars and less like actors in Phantom of the Opera. Some is okay of course, but I think Versailles do it too much.

One thing I wish they would do is up the "fan service" factor. Get Jasmine and Hizaki together more. :-)

Another thing that would be cool is what Psycho le cemu used to do... guitarist Aya and drummer Yura would put down their instruments/drum sticks and while the others did a song with pre-record assist, Aya and Yura would lead fans through dance / para-para routines. It was CRAZY fun like nothing before in VK.

Now then... I am not suggesting that Hizaki learn to para-para (though that would be as cute as a basket of bunnies) but why not something a little more dramatic - like some theatrics?

Key Party band Eliphas Levi used to do this to a degree, when they'd play pre-recorded goth thematic music and the band would act out a scenario... like the one where the members pretended to beat on Kei (vocalist). They threw him to the stage, gave him light abuse et el before he pretended to kill one with a knife and then poison the other with a chalice of wine.

I personally would love to see Versailles do something like that for 5 or 10 minutes in a show. I mean... let's put all that make-up and those great outfits to good use. Maybe Jasmine could play an evil head mistress who delights in flogging poor cute Hizaki. Kamijo could come to Hizaki's rescue, only to find that Hizaki rather enjoys the abuse from Jasmine and togther they turn their efforts toward Kamijo. Kamijo eventually retreats from the stage and Jasmine and Hizaki... well..... you fill in the blanks.

Sounds like you should have gone to one of the Node of Scherzo shows. It was Kamijo, Juka, Kaya, Hizaki, and Jasmine You, plus a changing cast of characters. Metis Gretel and Dollis Marry appeared as Juka's and Kamijo's minions at the May show, and Kanzaki had a large role at the Halloween one.

As for the Europe tour, I don't need to travel in luxury, I just want to get to the concerts. I'm still in the research and planning stages, but I think I can do it for less than one might expect, given the awful exchange rate.

Versailles has been recording for an upcoming single in March at the moment. We have lots of email about the single release overseas ...so we are trying to think about what to do.....We wil inform you when it's sorted!

KAMIJO has been rehearsing for a play which is starting on Feb 13 to Feb 17th. Acting is the first experience for him but he is doing very well!!

We are sp happy about our first Eu tour with Matenrou Opara. But we have not finished the annoucement yet.....I think one more date to come.......
