a piece of information

Nobutaka Machimura (See Note 1) is the Chief Cabinet Secretary in the government of Prime Minister Yasuo Fukuda. He is a member of the House of Representatives of Japan and a member of the ruling Liberal Democratic Party. Like other prominent politicians, he is the second generation politician, as far as I know. And, different from other second, third or fourth generation politicians, he seems to be gentle and dovish.

His father, Kingo Machimura (See Note 2), was also a member of the House of Representatives. But his history was awful and disgusting.

from 1941 to 1945 : the governor of a prefecture
April 1945 : the Tokyo Metropolitan Police commissioner
August 1945 : Japan made an unconditional surrender at the end of WWII.
1946 : He was purged from public positions by the US occupation forces and the Japanese government.
1952 : He was absolved from the public purge. he was elected to the House of Representatives.

Before the end of WWII, he was the Tokyo Metropolitan Police commissioner. In reality, he was the top bureaucrat of the special political police. This organization was something like a secret police or Gestapo, the German secret police under Nazi rule.

Some people say that many ordinary Japanese were arrested , tortured and killed by them. They were not questioned for their crimes after the war.

I don't want to blame his son, Nobutaka Machimura. But I hate the Japanese political system that goes out of the way to select such a family member for such an important position.

This is again the tip of the iceberg of corrupt Japanese system.

The reason why many war criminals were absolved so early was that Japan was in emergency in 1950. Korean War broke out. North Korea suddenly invaded South Korea. The US forces were unable to control the Japanese society under such circumstances. There was already an uneasy atmosphere in Japan.

The US forces reluctantly allowed war criminals to take the wheel of the Japanese politics again.

North Korea virtually helped the war regime for their restoration in Japan at that time.
