「せっかく」って英語でなんて言うんですか？それもう 、見つかってみたけど、何でもなかったのです。

Oh, and just in case you don't understand the 見つかってみた, I was trying to say I tried looking for it. Shoot, as for the whole sentence, I was trying to say I already tried looking for it, but found nothing. せっかく has been bugging me today. and as for the sentence I saw it in, it was 「せっかく　外に出れると思ったのによ〜！！」

Usually "Sekkaku" is used in a negative sentence. And "Sekkaku" means "with considerable trouble".

An instance, a person lost his way in a forest. And he wandered from place to place. In the end, he find a way out with considerable trouble. BUT, it was a new way to labyrinthine forest. And he say...
「せっかく　外に出れると思ったのによ〜！！」

It means "I believed that I find out a way out with considerable trouble but...". Sorry, I can not good explain.:p

And "I already tried looking for it, but found nothing" is "探してみたけど、見つからなかった" in Japanese.:note:
