hi everyone,

I really want to try to work at Japan as an illustrator or designer. i don't know how to check my eligibility for visa online, maybe i should go to check it directly in the embassy.

btw I just want to hear you guys' opinion, i'm an Indonesian and have obtained Bachelor's degree in Graphic design (Curtin University, Australia). Since i learned Japanese myself, i only able to read , speak a bit and quite good in listening. My native language is Indonesian but i also can speak Mandarin, English, Melayu (Malaysian) and a bit of Cantonese.

Maybe you guys can visit my online portfolio at tsugami.deviantart.com
I just want to know how high my chance in getting a job in Japan.

Thank you :)

Taking a guess here, but more of an educated guess than not, it would be a hard, uphill climb, but not impossible. It may depend on a number of things other than just education and linguistica ability--although those are also very important.

As for details, I cannot provide any at the moment, but some who can will surely come along and do so. Please check back by here.

My fiance had a similar question so i will post it under here:

Ask them that I want to have a comic published in japan, and as a foreigner does that seem less likely to succeed if I use a gaijin name and have to have a translator, or have a pseudonym of a japanese name and have it already translated by a japanese person.

Again, just a guess, but I would say that it would more so depend on the comic content and quality itself.

Just last week there was an article in the Asahi Weekly about one French artist--Frederic Boilet--who has 'created a new niche in the market' shall we say? with a new style of comic. He has had some backup for a publishing company in the past...and that really seems to be one key. Who do you know? What publishing companies have you approached? What is your porfolio like? Those might some good lines of action to look into firstly.
