Japanese 'wa' similar to the Russian Mir and Pravda?

To me there's something often talked about when mentioning Japan's society. That there is heavy hivemind and conformity. People bring up Ruth Benedict's concept of shame society, the concept of Japanese "Wa" and Tatemae and Honne.

As reading about Russia history as I have recently, the Russian society closely mirrors what I've been told about Japanese society. That there is heavy emphasis of group over the individual since the beginning and the concept of Pravda and Mir, which together closely if not exactly match the Japanese society concepts.

Disagree.

Russian society is very diverse but there is a common - extreme individualism. To be more precise - only person's family limits one. That's why in Russia so rare massive public protests - everyone fights only for oneself.

From the Russians I met all were about "me", though not nessesaryly in a bad way.

A form of the collective good is above all is with the neo nazi, I remember an interview with one where he said something like "Russians dont care about the immigrant taking over mother Russia" in defence of their violence. Again these aren't facts but I guess it says something if not much at all.
