Well, because I do have a lot of questions, and I do not want to bother everyone else in here by making new threads over and over again. I decided to make a single thread for my questions.

If been studying Japanese now for a couple of years with it's ups and downs. Sometimes I studied 10 hours a week or more, and sometimes not at all for another 3-4 weeks. I really need to get back on track again, so here are some of the stuff I want to ask you about.

1. Is it OK to write しました、　instead of した　ことが　あります。

だいだくに　入る　前に　ホームステイを　した　ことが　あります。

2. Are these sentences OK? I was trying to make some sentences and need to know if they are alright.

After

日本に　来たからは　オランダに　帰らなかった。
I have not returned to Holland, after I came to Japan.

すうを　やまたからは　ビールを　飲む　はじめた。
I started drinking beer after I stoped smoking.

けっこんするからは　私の　つまが　子どもが　できま した。
My wife got pregnant after we got married.

Before
日本に　来る　前に　おみやげを　買いました。
I bought souveniers before I came to Japan.

かわいい　日本の女に　会う　前に　日本語は　話しま せんでした。
I could not speak Japanese before I met a cute Japanese girl.

日本に　来る前に　アーストラリアと　スペインに　行きました。
I have been to Australia and Spain before I went to Japan.

1. Is it OK to write しました、　instead of した　ことが　あります。

だいだくに　入る　前に　ホームステイを　した　ことが　あります。

You can use しました instead of したことがあります, but the nuance also changes.

〜しました is a simple statement about the past.
〜したことがあります means experience.

大学に入る前にホームステイをしたことがあります。
I'd had a homestay before entering the university.
大学に入る前にホームステイをしました。
I had a homestay before entering the university.


2. Are these sentences OK? I was trying to make some sentences and need to know if they are alright.

I think that the basic structure of the sentences are OK but there're some conjugation mistakes.

日本に　来たからは　オランダに　帰らなかった。
I have not returned to Holland, after I came to Japan.
日本に来てからはオランダに帰っていない。

すうを　やまたからは　ビールを　飲む　はじめた。
I started drinking beer after I stoped smoking.
タバコをすうのをやめてから、ビールを飲みはじめた。
this would sound more natural.
喫煙をやめてから、ビールを飲むようになった。

けっこんするからは　私の　つまが　子どもが　できま した。
My wife got pregnant after we got married.
私の妻は結婚してから妊娠（にんしん）しました。
alternatively
私の妻は結婚した後（あと）妊娠（にんしん）しました 。


日本に　来る　前に　おみやげを　買いました。
I bought souveniers before I came to Japan.
*This is perfect! :cool:

かわいい　日本の女に　会う　前に　日本語は　話しま せんでした。
I could not speak Japanese before I met a cute Japanese girl.
かわいい日本の女性に出会う前は日本語を話せませんで した。
話す to speak
話せる to be able to speak
The particle は here is to contrast the two things (in this case, before and after meeting the gir.)

日本に　来る前に　アーストラリアと　スペインに　行きました。
I have been to Australia and Spain before I went to Japan.
*This is also good! Just remember Australia is spelled オーストラリア.
