Basically I co-own a small web development firm in the United States. It's a general partnership and we've been around 2 years. Is there a way I can apply for a Visa saying that I want to offer my services in Japan, web design, international business card printing, coding, etc...? Or is there any sort of way since I have this business to use it as a means to get a Visa to be in Japan, typically long term. Essentially giving me an extra edge to get a year long Visa. Other than my business I'll have my A.S. degree in business Administration by next semester.

The A.S. won't cut it for any visa.

Having a company in another country probably won't either, unless you register it in Japan. Go to www.gaijinpot.com and ask this in the Small Business SOHO forum. Hope that Trip Hop answers, and heed every word she gives you. Beware the site has lots of flamers.
