Hello,
I made this thread because I have recently been trying to decide which Universities I would like to apply for to pursue graduate studies in Japan. My chosen field is Economic Development or International Development and so far I've found about 10 colleges which offer masters degrees in this field:
Ritsumeikan Asia-Pacific University (Oita)
Ritsumeikan Asia-Pacific University (Kyoto)
Yokohama National University
Kobe University
Nagoya University
Waseda University
International University of Japan
Kyorin University
Fukuoka University
If anyone has experience with any of these University, or are familiar with other Master's programs on Economic Development in Japan, I would appreciate your input very much. Some of the thing's I am hoping to find in the ideal school are at least some degree of instruction in English, a strong economics component which includes Asia-specific and extensive developmental-economics-specific courses, and faculty who are actively engaged in the development field. I'm sure there are many other good qualities I could look for, but these are few big ones that come to mind.
Also, again I am very interested to learn of additional colleges offering graduate study in economic/international development (if they exist), particularly schools which are lesser-known than the ones I've listed above.
I hope this isn't too much info, thank you very much in advance for any input you may have.
Oh, I also read somewhere that The University of East Asia in Yamaguchi has a program on development (that was #10 on my list), but the website's all in Japanese and a friend of mine searched it for me and said she couldn't find any programs on Development listed in their curriculum. I've sorta wrote that one off as a result, but if anyone has had experience with this college I would be interested to hear what you have to say. Thanks.
